LED Strip Light Diffuser Help

Hi community,

I'm looking for some help. I recently bought some led strips from a deal but I'm now looking to set them up. I see you now need a diffuser and was looking if anyone had any ideas/tips.
I see led bargains all the time so I am hoping some out there has done this before and has some recommendations.
I look forward to hearing them.
Thanks in advance

I was looking at doing this several months ago. A few places sell the aluminium channel and diffuser strip but adds up for long runs. I think cheapest I found was on Ebay.

    • Would you have a link of what you bought please? Thanks

      • Sorry. Didn't actually end up buying these as ended up too expensive for what I wanted. Just search for "aluminium channel" on Ebay. However, as other posters have noted, AliExpress is cheaper if you are prepared to wait.

Assuming you mean you don’t want to see dotting,

Assuming you want opaque colour diffuser
    My suggestions would be:

30-60 chip per 1m configuration: need 35mm depth minimum

120chip per 1m configuration: 15mm depth ideally, but you can kind of get away with 8-9mm

Like the other poster said, it does get a bit pricey.

    • Yeah I got the Lenovo ones in the recent good guys deal. So I'm looking to mount in a hallway. Looking to get rid of the dots and simple installation. I will check how many chips there are and research the depth accordingly. Thanks for your reply and info.

    • Thanks for the info seems I might need to get the 35mm

I've sourced several meters from Aliexpress for some floor lamp projects (prices have gone up a little since then) - Aluminium Channel Holder for LED Strip

    • Hi mate just wondering if the ones you got:
1 completely diffsue the light (no dots)
2 easy to install? Any drill or was it just stickers?

      Thanks in advance

      • Better a late reply then never, but:

        1. They worked for my purpose but you can see the dots if you look carefully. The thing to consider is that the disernability of each individual LED is going to be dependent on (a) the distance from the LED to the diffuser and (b) the density of LEDs on the strip. In my case I had 60 LEDs/m which suited my needs as floor lamps (you don't directly look at the diffuser) - but would recommend either 90 or 120 if you're concerned about visibility.

        2. I got the 'V' shape ones and actually used epoxy to attach them to an aluminum V channel - but they came with some clips which were designed to be screwed in and would clip the channel in place (the design means that you couldn't directly screw through the channel).

        • Thanks mate, I did buy 10m worth of v shape hopefully it's fit for purpose. I really appreciate the help. People on OzB are legends.
