We do not offer any WARRANTY for this item since we don’t have any control as to how you will use these cells.
If you experience any issues with the cells, we do not have any support for it.

    PSA.

With no warranty (lawful how?) you are probs better off rolling the dice on some aliexpress randoms. I did back in 2020 for about $700 inc BMS. Haven't even burned my camper trailer down yet.

Haven't even burned my camper trailer down yet.

Are you in the camper trailer because you burnt the house down?

        PSA

Don't confuse a warranty (voluntary) with a guarantee (enshrined in law as a consumer right).

Unlike the USA, these are NOT interchangeable terms.

        • It's the second line that has me concerned;

If you experience any issues with the cells, we do not have any support for it.

namely the use of the word any at both points in that sentence.

          • @ESEMCE:

It's the second line that has me concerned

Agree. I think their language is a little ham-fisted (hence this comment )

Consumer Law would disagree with this statement.

Personally I wouldn't even bother dealing with companies who flaunt Consumer Law so flagrantly.
Just not worth the hassle and not worth supporting.

Remember - whatever they state on their site may have a bearing on the contractual arrangement with their consumer; but they cannot exclude statutory guarantees that cannot be contracted out of. "Fitness for purpose", "merchantable quality" etc are the kinds of things the Australian Consumer Law mandates for goods and services sold to consumers (which can include business consumers).

      See https://www.accc.gov.au/business/treating-customers-fairly/c…

The bigger problem here is likely to be that this business, owned by a company (Blue Kangaroo Pty Ltd), is potentially misleading consumers (as evidenced by the comments), who appear to have inferred that Big Wei Battery is stating there are no consumer guarantees. This could potentially fall foul of s18 of the ACL:

      (1) A person must not, in trade or commerce, engage in conduct that is misleading or deceptive or is likely to mislead or deceive.

That is a pet peeve of mine. Businesses consistently breach that provision, for which there is no excuse (at law, or ethically).

      • Report a consumer issue

        Business name: BIG WEI BATTERY
Entity name: BLUE KANGAROO PTY LTD
        ABN: 67620257561
        ACN: 620257561

      • While they may be liable still, they'll force you to take them to court over it, which will be an absolute nightmare.

I don't know how many cases of the accc actually enforcing it on consumers behalf.

Keep miles clear of this mob.

  • Anything around the 100Ah range on special - looks like a good price on this 280ah

I'm always wary of batteries these days since seeing https://www.reddit.com/r/assholedesign/comments/n6sbhu/the_h…

  • At least copy and paste from correct item

    Nominal voltage- 12.8V
    Discharge Cut-Off Voltage- 10V
    Charge Cut-Off Voltage- 14.6V

    • Thank you.

      Hope it helps

With such a deal like this, ozbargainers will be very weary buying from this company in the future.
OP shot themselves in the foot…..

  • You guys are idiots. If you're buying standalone cells, it's because you're using it for DIY, with your own BMS, etc. If you don't know what you're doing you can easily damage the cell (it's not that hard, but neither is driving a car for example but look at all the (profanity) ups).

Also, good luck with buying cells on AliExpress. Though they may work well, you're probably getting old/used cells.

    • You guys are idiots

I think that's a little rough. OP seems to be sailing close to the wind in terms of ACL Section 18(1) and that's what people seem to be riled-up about - and then conflating guarantee and warranty as one in the same.

They can't sell DOA or otherwise not of merchantable quality cells - but suggesting they should offer a warranty is either naïve or a misunderstanding of the difference between guarantee and warranty.

If you're buying standalone cells, it's because you're using it for DIY, with your own BMS, etc

      Absolutely.

      • Fair, I'll cop that was a little rough and wasn't needed. Apologies to anyone offended.

  • I just bought a battery from these guys.
    Warranty is definitely concerning.

    • Hi there,
      Good afternoon
Our BWB LiFePO4 batteries come with a 3-year warranty and lifetime free service
If you have any questions about our battery, you can always talk to us by sending us an email or visit our shop in Slacks Creek.
      Thank you

    • My understanding is that their BATTERIES carry a pretty comprehensive warranty and it's only their CELLS products which have statutory guarantees coverage.

Thanks for everyone's reminder and concerns.

In fact, we could have done a long-term warranty based on the top quality of the battery cells, but we have seen too many customers make wrong operations due to a lack of professional knowledge, resulting in damage to the battery cells and BMS. The risk brought by this kind of customer DIY project is something that we cannot afford. Therefore, we can only guarantee the quality of unused (Brand new) cells but cannot provide a warranty for them.

We made sure that the 280AH GFB LiFePO4 cells are A-Grade & Brand New, have been tested and guaranteed to work as advertised, and we made sure that it does follow consumer guarantees provided by ACCC and actively made sure consumers know we do not provide warranty for the product because as stated above it is 100% working and tested.

It is also very easy to enjoy the warranty provided by us, just buy our BWB LiFePO4 batteries directly, and customers can immediately get a 3-year warranty and lifetime free service. We offer a 3-year warranty for ALL of our BWB LiFePO4 batteries because we are able to control the risks for the batteries produced by ourselves.

We strongly recommend you seek advice or guidance from a qualified and/or certified technician especially when you do not have any experience in using this to avoid any risks or losses
