[Announcement] Cheddar Now Available on Cashback Button on Mobile

Cheddar is a CBA-backed deal discovery app on the mobile, available on both iOS and Android. They have also been doing cashbacks over the past year. We have now integrated Cheddar cashback on OzBargain, where we show the available cashbacks on the store or on the deal.

For example, cashbacks on Uniqlo:

Note that Cheddar cashback will only be shown on OzBargain mobile site. Clicking on the Cheddar cashback entry will open the page inside the Cheddar app (if installed).

Thanks for the integration of Cheddar into the store cashback comparison section.

Note that Cheddar cashback will only be shown on OzBargain mobile site. Clicking on the Cheddar cashback entry will open the page inside the Cheddar app (if installed).

    Why is that?

Today's shopper's are multi-device users and browse on desktop and switch to mobile if necessary for better discounts. Desktop allow's shopper's to see more information at once and browse faster. It would seem to be harder to discriminate against desktop users then it would be to provide information to all users (desktop and mobile)?

1+ on this. On desktop, could we have a "Mobile Only" tag on the cheddar cashback offer?

      • +1

This is how I would like to see it implemented.

    • Also Cheddar should be happy with this as it will lead to a larger audience as shopper's will be more likely to discover and have a reason to use the app.

      • Will also increase the number of angry support tickets they'll receive from untracked transactions if previous Cheddar posts are anything to go by…

Yes I would like the cashback amount to be visible on the desktop site also, with a 'via app only' (or similar) tag.
I mainly browse OzB via desktop but if there's a deal that has a greater discount if I use my mobile, I will switch over.
Like app-only deals, they still appear on the desktop site but users just switch to their mobile to redeem.

    • After communicating with Cheddar, we have adjusted it to show on both desktop & mobile site.

Nice - had dramas with cheddar the first few times but although took ages.. was sorted in the end. Thanks Scotty and team.

    • I have another menu log cash back that hasn't tracked been 3 weeks.

        Hi @mokr,
Can you please email our team at [email protected] and we'll look into that for you ASAP! Thank you.

  • Will this also be added to the referral system?

  • Hi @scotty, just wondering has the integration been switched off? I can't see it anymore, such as the Uniqlo example above

    • Cheddar turns on&off specific merchants at their end. They are a bit like promotion based cashback — only turned on when there's a sales campaign.

      • Interesting…! Thanks for getting back to me

  • Seems like the Cheddar mobile app may no longer be necessary.

    The website says (my emphasis):

Explore epic deals on web or on-the-go with our app, and you'll discover exclusive offers and promos.

Today, I made a purchase via desktop browser and it was tracked by Cheddar instantly (hopefully I'll be able to withdraw). Convenient to have both!

  • This didn't last long… Cheddar is shutting down and we'll start removing the cashback links on stores & deals.

    • I did read that it's hard to be profitable with cashback sites.
