I have been on the hunt for a dehumidifier since Feb/March this year when things got real wet on the east coast.
After my research i was keen to try this one, but it was out of stock everywhere - as was pretty much every dehumidifier.
Now there seems to be stock and the price is ever so slightly reduced with Amazon price matching Costco

Costco link for reference: https://www.costco.com.au/Home-Furniture/Heating-Cooling-Air…

Looks like some of the other Ausclimate ones are reduced too:
Ausclimate NWT Medium 20L Dehumidifier $399 (RRP $470) - https://www.amazon.com.au/Ausclimate-NWT-Dehumidifier-Exclus…
Ausclimate NWT Supreme All Seasons 50L Dehumidifier $749 (RRP $889) - https://www.amazon.com.au/Ausclimate-Dehumidifier-Exclusive-…

I recently bought Ausclimate NWT Medium 20L Dehumidifier and loving it.
You will be wondering where all the waters coming from to the tank ;)

    • +2

Same, got the 20L one a couple of months ago and really impressed with how much moisture it collects

      • +2

I bought the same model in Nov 2021. Wish I bought it years ago :).

    • Does it work during the summer? I've got central AC but it does jackshit for humidity, that's why I'm thinking about getting one…

      • Mate, I also have central ducted air condition and same we had all the shitty mold everywhere (especially the bathroom) so we are using this now.

        • Are you guys using it in tandem with the central AC?

Removing the humidity is great, but summer hot is still hot >.<

  • +1

Good brand I have the 35l and it works super well.

    • +1

I also have the 35L and agree that it works super well.

  • +1

Agreed, bought one of their units about 10 years ago, the control panel is getting a little flaky but everything else still works fine.

  • I'm waiting for this one to be delivered. Hoping it will work ok for an ensuite bathroom and bedroom area. This ausclimate might be the better choice though

    • i've been using that one. it really works.
but it has a slight smell coming of it, not sure if all the desiccant dehumidifier has similar smell too or not

      • Mime does not smell. Different brand to yours.

I've been using the Shinco 10L, got it for about around $230 including the $20 cashrewards on Amazon Prime day.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Portable-Dehumidifier-Remove-Moist…

The Shinco is a compressor based unit (better for the price for 18+ degree weather) whereas the Ausclimate is dessicant based (better in colder conditions weather).

It works really well in my larger bedroom.

    • Thanks for the recommendation, this one does look decent. For anyone else looking, note that this one is significantly weaker than the Ausclimate models, so it'll take longer to draw the same amount of moisture out of the air. Best suited to smaller rooms.

      • +2

Yeah agreed, even though they're both rated at 10L/day, I think the Shinco is only really able to do that in warmer high humidity climates, due to it being compressor based. I'm still happy with mine for the price and it easily drops the humidity from 70s to ~ 50% (though struggles to get it down to 30%).

    • Thanks for the recommendation. Have been eying this on amazon as well as the ausclimate ones so might give this one a go.

    • Sorry to say but that went for $179 in a lightning deal :D
And while it's small, for the price with a compressor it's been going great! When it's warmer and raining a lot I wouldn't be surprised if it could fill its 1.8L container 5 times in 24hrs with fan on high.

      • Ah, dang. Time to hand in my ozbargain badge then.

Out of curiousity, when was this lightning deal? I hovered on the Shinco dehumidifier for ages and also checked here and on Camel Camel Camel and never saw it dropped sadly.

        • I bought it at 9:45am on 13 July, if that helps. Prime lightning deals won't show on Camel. Lightning deals are typically 6 hours if I remember correctly, but this one might've cleared out early. I was super lucky - although a dehumidifier wasn't front of mind I checked the lightning deals page at the right time and that price was too good. Might have set an alert the night before.
I can relate to your regret, don't worry. It's probably best people aren't told something was available cheaper so sorry about that :)

  • Got mine in June.
    It’s a great machine.

  • I've been using the Brevelle dehumidifier
https://www.breville.com/au/en/products/air-dehumidifier/bad… for the last 2years and found it to be outstanding. Its usually sold for under $390 at most retailers.

  • Can anyone explain to me the difference between the models? What’s premium about this opposed to the 20L model which can collect more for longer?

    • +1

The Desiccant type will be smaller and quieter. It is also lighter if you need to move it upstairs/downstairs.

    • +1

Dessicant: quieter, works well at low temperatures, uses more electricity, warms up the room like a heater.

Compressor: louder, doesn't work well in low temperatures (less efficient below 18 degrees). In warm temperatures is more energy efficient than dessicant. Doesn't add as much heat to the room.

In general, dessicant is better in cold weather or when noise is an issue, compressor is better otherwise.

      • Good to know I made the right choice, cheers for the explained!

  • +1

I highly recommend this Ausclimate model dehumidifier. After the Feb/March floods our house was very mouldy (ceilings, tables, cupboards, wardrobes etc.). It was impossible to find this one but we eventually snagged one from eBay for around $530 with eBay plus discount. It worked so well we looked at getting another one. However, around May/June they were in short supply and scalpers were charging $800 for them and people were paying that price.

    • +1

Yeah I got scalped at HN for the bigger unit in March.
They had the only stock around and they knew it. Had to pay full price. Still getting over it.

  • +1

does this also stack 7% cash rewards given it's under "Home" ?? +3% for gift cards ??

    • +1

      Decent saving if this tracks!

  • +2

I have this model for our apartment and it works very well.

Only thing I would say is the interface is pretty basic. You can set a timer for a few hours but makes a loud beep when finished, which sucks if you're sleeping.
It's also pretty loud, people say it's like white noise.. but having a white noise machine it's considerably louder. It also makes the room pretty hot/warm… But I like to sleep cool.

So we run it during the morning/day/evenings

  • Can someone help me decide between 10L premium and 50L supreme models? Thanks

$499 from other sellers with free post

    • You negging me for helping you? Wow.

OK here's the link to the other seller if you can't look for yourself :

Ausclimate Cool Seasons Premium 10L Desiccant Dehumidifier (Exclusive AUS 2-Yr Replacement Warranty) AU1910DD https://amzn.asia/d/cbuBV63

  • How does the Ausclimate AU1910DD compare to the De'Longhi DEXD214F Dehumidifier ($369 @ Amazon) https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B093BWL9NZ/

  • How much would something like this cost to run let day if U say leave it on 24/7

    • Have a look at the spec sheets for each dehumidifer, it tells you what the power draw is.

For example, the Ausclimate 10L dessicant dehumidier draws 420W or 730W depending on which power mode it's in — let's assume 730W, most of the time.
      https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/9589/2379/files/Auscl…

So it'll most likely cost you a bit more than it would cost to run your typical reverse cycle air conditioner for the same amount of time. It's relatively cheap overall, but with power prices skyrocketing these days, you'll notice it for sure.

Have a look at this article, it explains how to calculate the running cost:
      https://healthyhabitats.com.au/blogs/articles/best-dehumidif…

The compressor dehumidifiers use less power (since they don't need to heat things up), and are comparable to a smaller RCAC.

For comparison, the Ausclimate 20L model uses 355W of power.

  • With 2 years warranty right?

    • Correct :)

  • Good guys commercial was my go to when every store was no stock. Delonghi and Breville models were about $350 and shipped from Perth for $10

  • Definitely Compressor for WA if anything due to electricity prices but would these HELP a split aircon function ?

    • would these HELP a split aircon function

It depends — lowering the humidity will make you feel more comfortable (in hot weather), so you may not need to run the aircon as much.
      https://www.carneyphc.com/blog/air-conditioning/will-my-air-…

    • If you're cooling the air with the AC, the AC will dehumidify at the same time. This desiccant dehumidifier will increase the temperature of the room whilst dehumidifying, so may negate any cooling benefits. If you're wanting to heat the room, then this will definitely assist and reduce himidity whereas RCACs don't dehumidify in heating mode.

Thanks OP, bought one. Hopefully the kids get less sick now..

  • Thanks and agreed, this is a good price. Been monitoring for a while too.

FYI the all seasons 50L is cheaper at Costco at $700 compared to Amazon at $749 https://www.costco.com.au/Home-Furniture/Heating-Cooling-Air…

  • I have this and we love it . We mostly use it to dry washing now on wet days .
It's user interface fairly simple and it doesn't have a humidity detector built in so you can overdo it. I purchased some cheap wi fi thermopro sensors so I can see what the humidity levels are and turn it off when it drops enough.
Also purchased from Amazon for $529 after appliances online cancelled order when stock unavailable in march.
It warms your room up too , so room often 4 or 5 degrees warmer than other rooms.

    • Can I ask which model wifi sensor?

hi guys, looking for some help here. I already have a reverse cycle AC in my apartment and it has 'dry' mode. how would that compare to say buying the medium version of this?

might also note, when I tried dry mode it blew out cold air so turned it off cause we're already freezing this winter

    • Dry mode on AC will basically be the coldest your ac can go so it's okay in summer but not great for winter. This will be the reverse, great in winter as it also heats up the room a bit, bearable in summer but for shorter periods.

      • Yeah I don't have an issue in summer only winter. Ok cool thanks for your help, looks like I need to grab one. Cheers

        • Yeah the desiccant ones like this are great for cold weather. Very effective!

  • Bought this last month, and it works extremely well, removes moisture plus heats up the room

  • +1

Got delivered today and very impressed after the first use. It reduced RH by 18% in about 2 hrs.. nice!

  • Whats better in Melbourne? Dessicant Or compressor?

  • Bought one of these which has been working great. However, there’s some random beeping noises which come from the unit. This occurs when both the louvres are moving and when it’s not. Does anyone have the same issue?

  • Also great for drying clothes

  • Guys I've got central AC but it doesn't take care of the humidity, so I need a dehumidifier for the coming hot weather…what should I pick? Compressor or Dessicant based machines? Thanks!
