Mizuno Wave Inspire 17 Men's Running Shoe Black/Gibraltar-Sea $100 (RRP $220) + $5 Del ($0 with $150 Order) @ Running Warehouse

400

An excellent price for these relatively recent shoes. I've put 1000km+ into an old pair of Wave Inspire 13s that are only showing mild wear on the heels, and been watching prices for a replacement for several months. This is the cheapest I've seen them go.

Currently showing availability for a wide range of US sizes from 8.0 to 15.0.

The Waveknit variant in Obsidian are also on sale for $150.

Are we still talking about shoes?

        • I am sure discussion veered off to the socks

Do you notice the grip on these mizunos seems to peel off around the edges very quickly? Love mizunos - I'm dead loyal to them. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced or fixed the peel problem?

    • Same here. I do love mizuno but they worn out pretty fast. Still trying to find something comfy as mizuno but nothing yet.

      • I am neewbie to Mizunos. Should i get this shoes? 8 will use it for daily walking.

        • My podiatrist recommended wave inspire as I have mild flat feet and this profile is good to provide mild arch support. The mizuno site (cb available) had some good deals similar to this price a few weeks ago

    • Yep. The black grip detached from the sole on my waverider 24's, on the side. Used them for about 500 km of street running. Wasn't going to buy Mizuno again anyway as they are apparently targeted at heel strikers.

      • Indeed. 12mm drop:

Stack Height:38 mm (Heel), 26 mm (Forefoot) - includes non-removable sockliner

        • Apparently all Mizuno are for people who heel strike. I used my waverider's for less than a year, but never found them comfortable. I was always double-striking, as the large heel drop meant my heal would touch the ground before I actually landed properly on my midfoot/forefoot. After 500km, I noticed my speed was decreasing, so I decommissioned them for running and use them as casual. But part of the sole simply dropped off.

  • Does medium width mean it's normal width?

Yes. 'D' (Medium) is considered "normal" width.

The ultimate dad shoes. Having kids doesn't make you a dad, these sneakers do.

    • reading this wasn't sure if this was meant as a good thing or a bad thing :)

  • Is the Wave Inspire 17 suitable for everyday use (mostly standing and walking)? I have a normal arch, and prefer a slight inward bend support, along with medium heel (not too high). Something more durable.

Also, how do Mizuno shoe sizes compare to Nike, New Balance or Adidas? I've worn Nike (US 10), New Balance (US 10), and Adidas (US 10.5).

It's a pretty high heel compared to the norm these days which I think is about 8mm:

Stack Height:38 mm (Heel), 26 mm (Forefoot) - includes non-removable sockliner

      Which means a 12mm drop.

Despite the numbers, its hard to tell until you try them. I prefer a low drop but ended up buying a pair with a 8mm drop (Brooks Divide 3, trail shoe) as it actually felt very neutral to me.

Current shoe is a Mizuno Wave 17 (waveknit in obsidian got for $100 FYI in Dec '21). Have used them for 6+ months.

Came as a long user of Asics GT2000s. Shifted from ASICS as my big toe kept putting a hole in the front part of shoe/toe box. I have a flat arch.

    Quick review.
    - Higher height feel. Firm underfoot with stiff sole from the plastic wave shank. Took a good couple of weeks to "wear in"
    - Look a little "squarer" around the foot vs my other shoes.
    - These still give me slight arch aches occasionally but I still use them as my daily training/5km race show and morning walks.
    - The top of the cushioning has worn a fair bit on the cuff on the inside, near the inside of ankle. Shoes seem to be rubbing together but never happened with my other shoes, well not that I noticed anyway.
    - Picks up small stones in the central channel of undersole.
    - Good shoe. Looks good. Not sign of hole in toe box from big toe so far. (Last ASIC pair showed wearing around big toe in 3-4 months, hence why I was done with them)

I do recommend them, but I will try another brand like Brooks before either coming back to ASICS or other brand.

  • Thank you, ordered.
