      9% according to the can.

These are about $2/can in Japan!

    • But they are good ain’t they ? XD

      • +5

Even with Australian taxes and imports these are way overpriced. If you are charging $10 a can for these I hate to imagine what your mark up on Happoshu and One cup Ozeki is…

  • +2

    $10 a can? Jeez…

  • +6

No offence but curious to know why are those so expensive in Australia. It literally retails for $1.5~2 per can in Japan. $10 RRP sounds insane.

Also "Strong Zero" is from Suntory, "Frozen Zero" is from Kirin.

    • Mainly tax and shipment

      • +7

I’d get out of the market if you have to mark it up 400% due to shipping and taxes. Keeping in mind they make a profit at $2 and that includes japans taxes. Pre Covid you could fly to one way to japan for this carton price.

          lol

Tax is as twice as beer due to the high alcohol content but I think $1 is the maximum for a 350ml can. Shipping is another $1 max possibly much less. I think $6 is quite fair since most likely they buy from a wholesaler with an already marked-up price.

And no you won't survive a carton of this.

"Mainly tax and shipment" and a lot of GREED

      • +2

Flown over first class are they?

      • $71 tax and $13.60 gst
If they are $2aud a can in Japan they are $2.70 a can here if you minus the taxes

  • +1

    Pretty overpriced anyways.
Can get it from most good Asian supermarkets for $5/$6.

    • +2

Probably not the 9% version , 6%version is imitated version brew by Coca-Cola, that’s why they can sell at $6 / can

  • Anyone know of a supplier in Brisbane? Keen to get and retry, however haven't found the Kirin brand anywhere.

    • Flip us an email, will get you hocked with the supplier in Brisbane

Australia tax in full flight here

    • The beauty of capitalism is that if you can supply the same product better/cheaper then by all means do it.

  • +2

This is less than $1.50 in Japan. GO TO JAPAN.

    • Still not allowed

  • Good deal for the proper Kirin Hyoketsu considering all the typical Australian mark ups. Any chance I can get a flat in Sydney?

  • Had a few of these before going out in Japan. They give you a proper kick start

  • Do you also sell the Suntory Horoyoi? Or know anyone in Brisbane who can supply me with some for my partner.
