      Sorry bud it's not 8 in 1

      • Sounds like the detergent we really need!
I'll just drink regular wool wash for now

    Made in Australia /thumbsup

    • +3

Definitely buying one cause of it !!

    • Also Omo.

The $17 is just covering Coles special price. https://shop.coles.com.au/a/national/everything/search/Dynam…

    • That's why you'll do S&S on Amazon

      • I buy it with my Coles gift cards and stacked spend offers (10%, 20%, 25% back in points) which Amazon doesn’t give me. Way ahead.

  • how’s does this compare to costco pricing albeit they sell the 6L version

    • +8

This one is a better deal as compared to Costco's one.

      This deal (Amazon AU) $15.30/3.6l = $4.25/l
      Costco $34.99/6l = $5.83/l

The best deal in previous posting is Big W $22/5.4l = $4.07/l

      • The question is which is the better product?

I also just bought some Coles Laundry Liquid @$1.5/2L, pretty good online reviews.

        https://shop.coles.com.au/a/national/product/coles-smart-buy…

      • I think the costco one is $25 in store this week.

      • +1

How many mls of each is needed for each load should be considered too, to get $ per load.

after spending hours to work out the maths you realize you just don't like the smell………

    How does it compare to:

Parents think this does just as good job as Dynamo and others

      Front loaders
Woolworths sunny glow seems ok, scored 80% vs Dynamo which was 75%

      Or

Aldi Almat Laundry Powder Concentrate Sunshine Fresh Front

      Top loaders
Coles Lemon Fresh Laundry Powder (62%)

      • Yeah thanks had a look but it doesn't go into detail why or how they are better.

I have personally tried a bunch of different brands and in regards to the feel after a wash they all feel the same, so unsure what and if there is anything special about them that make omo or dynamo costly and advertised as much better than this cheap coles brand

        • +2

Im starting to think the choice reviews are very arbitrary. Look at their results for front loaders for this year and last year. Totally different.

          2021:

          • Coles Ultra Concentrate Laundry Capsules (85%)

          • Dynamo Professional Discs capsules (85%)

          • Dynamo Professional 7 Actions in 1 Wash Liquid (84%)

          • Aldi Trimat Advanced Concentrated Laundry Liquid (83%)

          • Omo Laundry Detergent Triple Capsules (83%)

          • Dynamo Professional Free & Clear Liquid (82%)

          • Dynamo Professional Our Best Stain Removal Oxi Plus Liquid (81%)

          • Coles Ion Laundry Liquid Concentrate Original (81%)

          • Coles Ion Laundry Liquid Concentrate Colours (81%)

          • Dynamo Professional Deep Clean with Odour Eliminating Technology (80%)

          2022:
          Omo Laundry Detergent Powder (84%)
          Omo Ultimate Powder (84%)
Aldi Almat Laundry Powder Concentrate Sunshine Fresh (82%)
Cold Power Advanced Clean Powder (81%)
Woolworths Clean Sunny Glow Laundry Powder (80%)
Cold Power Clean and Fresh Powder (76%)
Coles Ion Liquid Concentrate Colours (76%)
Coles Ion Liquid Concentrate Original (76%)
Dynamo Professional Our Best Stain Removal Oxi Plus Liquid (76%)
Dynamo Professional 7 Actions in 1 Wash Liquid (75%).

A couple of the items are discontinued but still the results are way too different than what you would expect. Their testing procedures are probably not very consistent from one year to the next and their interpretations of the results are probably somewhat subjective.

      • So dynamo dropped from 84% last year to 75% this year. In that time many people have reported it has been changed and smells different. Maybe they've weakened it?

  • This one is high efficiency

Lock it in the subscriptions against inflation

    • +11

Just found out it doesn't work that way. My subscription keeps fluctuating with the current price, it's just the discount that's fixed. I had no idea

      • Wow … dont know that, thx

    • +3

Subscription doesn't lock price. You pay market rates when it's time to ship a new order

I use this in a Samsung front loader and find the effectiveness of the detergent highly disappointing. It barely gets rid of any kind of stains on clothes. Bought it because it was recommended by choice but real world performance is one star out of 5

    • How Choice pays its staff?

    • +1

Which one do you prefer over this for the Samsung?

      • Haven't finished my current bottle yet. Not sure which brand I would try next.

    • +4

I tried this Dynamo one as well, but wasn't happy with it in my Samsung front loader either. I've found the best liquid for price and cleaning ability is Aldi's Trimat Advanced.

      • Hmm Interesting will give that a try and see how it goes

        • I'd be interested to hear your thoughts if you do give it a go.

          • @bonezAU: Sure will report back when I do try it out

    • +1

I agree with it barely removing minor dirt marks. I've stocked up on Dynamo from previous sales but will be looking elsewhere once it runs out.

    • +2

Good article by a chemist that touches on why you’re experiencing this:

      https://cen.acs.org/business/consumer-products/Almost-extinc…

TL;DR liquids are better at removing oils and grease. Powders are better at removing physical stains.

  • +2

I think I'll stick with my Almat Laundry Liquid Concentrate 2L $5.49 2L

  • +11

FYI this detergent contains isothiazolinone, which is a known irritant. If you have sensitive skin or eczema I'd probably steer clear of this. We switched detergents a couple of years back and I developed severe contact dermatitis for 3 months until we worked out it was due to clothes containing residues of isothiazolinone. After we stopped using that detergent my skin cleared up within a week and now we check the SDS before bringing any new products into the house.

    • +1

ah, didn't know that. My family has history of sensitive skins due to eczema and I shall avoid this irritant in future. What is an alternative detergent product you use that wouldn't have that chemical in it, if you could suggest?

      • See below, thought I was replying to your comment.

    • +1

Have you tried the rinse+ option on your machine? If your laundry is rinsed proper it shouldn't matter too much what is on the detergent.

      • I don't think so but I'd rather just steer clear of the chemical altogether if possible as I have a pretty horrible reaction when I'm exposed to it so it's just not worth it. I've had localised flare ups due to dish and hand soap too.

        • +2

Sorry that must be awfully inconvenient

          • +2

@reactor-au: Thanks, it is rather annoying. The thousand bucks out of pocket for GP and specialist appointments to work out what was causing it was pretty painful too. Though if you want a licence to print money I'd highly recommend becoming an allergy specialist.

    • What would you recommend? I have very bad eczema maybe the detergent is causing me flare up

  • +3

My mum has bad eczema and swears by sensitive detergents, and I'm pretty sure her go to is Surf Sensitive or Persil Pure (something alliterative anyway).

I don't suffer quite so bad, but my preferred detergent was Earth Choice Concentrate Powder. Since the start of the pandemic that has been really hard to find and I wonder if they've stopped making it. We switched to their liquid detergent and unfortunately it turns out that better for the earth isn't always better for the skin as that was what triggered my dermatitis. So some brands will put isothiazolinone in some products but not others.

At the moment we tend to buy one of the Ecostore sensitive liquids as that doesn't give me any issues. We've tried a few different detergents if they are on special, but always look at the SDS before buying. That applies for hand soaps and dishwashing liquids too as some of them have isothiazolinone.

I also work FIFO and have never had a problem with any of the industrial/commercial detergents they use on site. I've always found it a bit strange they don't give me any problems as I thought they'd be really harsh. But no idea what brands those are though sorry.

    • Have you tried their Undo This Mess laundry liquid?

      • No, but I just checked their ingredients list and they all contain both benzisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone. That would be no good for me based on past experience.

  • +4

How is this compared to cold power. I usually get the 6L when it's on special and currently amazon is matching big w price plus extra saving with S&S $23.4 for 6L =$3.9/L. Doesn't this work out better? I worked it out and you get the same # of washes https://amzn.asia/d/6LSlnzJ

  • Does it have an expiry date?
