[PS4, PS5] Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut $29 (PS4) or $49 (PS5) In-Store only @ Target

1140

Target appears to be clearing out Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut I assume due to it being added to the PS Plus tiers. Best price I have seen so far for the directors cut and I would highly recommend it if you like RPG games.

note
The PS4 version does not come with a free PS5 upgrade

Included in the PlayStation plus extra as well now.

Yep, same way Demon's Souls became worthless and sold for $15 by Target not long ago.

      • +1

I actually bought that too before even getting my hands on a PS5. Though it's still just sitting in its case.

      • +1

Worthless? I can't find even a used copy under $50

        • Just had a quick look and it's actually laughable.
Not sure if these dreamers are aware that you can buy it for $69 at JB Hi-Fi.

          • +3

@[Deactivated]: Cex has it for $50. Point is that it’s not “worthless” at $50 used, $69 new

            • +2

@FireRunner: I mean, it depends on how you look at it.
It instantly became worthless to me when it was available on PS+.
But if you're someone who prefers hard copies, different story I guess.

              • +4

@[Deactivated]: Not everyone upgraded to Extra or whatever? I imagine most people just let their PS Plus membership roll over into the Essential tier which I don't think gets access to this?

              • -3

@[Deactivated]: I feel like your argument misses the point that you're paying for PS+.

                • -6

@lordrupertliverpool: It's obviously not a free service, no.
My point is that I don't care for the game after I finish it so why would I buy a hard copy when it's available in the PS+ catalogue?

Lol it seems I've pinched a nerve with some DS fanboys. My bad broz. 😭

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: @p3r514n I don't think you realise SONY can REMOVE games from ps plus anytime they want!

You can literally lose the game next month!

        • I'm still wondering if I should do the crazy Turkish VPN thing for 15 years of PSN Deluxe for $600

It's obviously risky, and tiresome but I do know PS3/4/5 all managed working with multiple accounts quite well.

          • @hamwhisperer: I thought it was capped at 3 years?

            • @plmko: In the thread one guy did 8 years and the limit is mentioned multiple times as 15?

Maybe they have now blocked it?

    • I’m currently playing this from the Ps+ catalogue. I’m really enjoying this game. I’m at act 3 now after about 40 hours in.

  • +5

I would highly recommend it if you like RPG games.

    Role-playing game games?

    • +4

      ATM machine.

    • +4

      Rocket propelled grenade games

    • +9

I mean if I said "would recommend it if you like RPGs" there might be some rocket launcher enthusiasts who might be let down…

  • +15

I still want a hard copy of the games, subscription is a lease.

    • +2

      Fair comment.

I just want milk that tastes like real milk

  • +1

Almost 30 hours in and i just finished Act 3. What an amazing ride… looking forward to Iki island and completing more side missions.

  • Bargain! Just started playing the Iki Island expansion after finishing the main game. So good

  • +1

Curse the subscription buffet. Am torn between loving to buy games vs knowing it’s just there for no charge with the sub.

    Idiots!

  • +2

Cheap GOTY. Just ignore the others.

    • Sorry? What are you saying?

  • I tried to find the listing on Target's website, but since it appears to be an in store only deal (like OP just posted) I suppose you'd have to ring individual stores up to check if they have it in stock.

Would other stores like JB be able to price match you reckon by just showing the staff this photo? I'm thinking If I can't find it at any nearby targets that's what I'm going to do.

    • Will it work ? I am going to try tomorrow

      • I've done this before at JB at least, they look at the other retailers ecommerce website and they find the product code for that product, they then use the product code to search other retail stores through some type of system to see if that is the set price across the board, then they will price match based off that.

Theoretically I guess it should be okay as long as they can find the product code for Ghost, it would just come to whether or not they think this price reduction is genuine.

    • +2

I searched their site before using the photo. They often take them offline when they go clearance, could be because stocks are too low I'm not sure. JB would probably accept the photo, I didn't put up the photo for PS5 so might be harder there. They might not pricematch though if it's clearance.

  • +3

    Amazon come to the play

    • probably won't match if it's in store only.

  • How much is the PS5 upgrade?

  • +1

man gotta love target's clearance, shame it's super hard to get notified about it.

    • such a roll of the dice to find anything on clearance but when you… hooo boy! I once picked up a game I definitely was never going to play for $10

  • If you're on the fence about it, get it, worth it.

  • This is good. I might try trade in my original ps4 version at EB and price match rhe ps5 DC.

  • It's a decent game and worth it for this price I guess. I didn't think it was worth the price at launch though. The game just looks pretty but feels monotonous after a while. Easy to platinum the game though

  • Loved the game, although I recommend putting into Japanese with English subtitles, felt more authentic. Plus the guy who voices Kenji was a hoot.

An absolute classic and must-have title.

    • i got put off by the terrible lip sync that was never fixed and just ended up going with English voice, honestly the english voice actor did fantastic jobs so its really up to your preference in this game unlike some other games where you definitely need to use the original voice due to the English dub being terrible.

      • I think in the ps5 version they did tweak the Japanese sync from memory.

However I found it hard to follow the subs during action - I multitask like a man.

        • yh they tweaked it, i tried it on the ps5 version without having tried the the prior version and yet it is still abysmal, and yh I agree it's hard to follow the subs, this isn't exactly similar to games like Yakuza series where dialogues mostly happens during cutscenes only.

  • +1

Went to the local target, they don't have this price and don't accept online deal matching.

    • +1

Edit: They did not tag the new price on shelf, but when I do price check it is the clearance price, was able to get last one

  • Can anyone post a photo of ps5 price please?

    • I do have it, went to post it using imgur but wasn't working. Not sure if it's because my internet is playing up. If you know of other ways to post it on here happy to do it.

      • Yeah not sure sorry. I’ll go check out my local tomorrow. Hopefully can price match with EB

  • Hot damn come on Amazon

  • very good game but might as well get PS extra.

    • Do you get to keep the game with PS Extra?

      • Not forever

      • It's subscription based so while it is in their library and you have a current paid subscription you can play it. They do take things out of their library too so in short no you don't keep it.

  • +1

Thanks OP, grabbed the last PS5 one on the shelf at Modbury, SA this morning.

    • was literally there thursday and they told me they had none!
