Powerade 1.5l No Longer Stocked at Woolworths?

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but I went to grab some Powerade 1.5l bottles from Woolworths over the weekend, they no longer stock them. But no, just that they have stopped selling the Gatorade 1l bottles as well.

The only one you can get now is Maximus 1l, which I do buy when its around $2 or under and only in the grape or passionfruit.

But thought I'd make the forum post and let people know, if you check the Woolworths you'll get that weird map if you try and check stock locations.

Just another way they are removing value I guess a little frustrating, I'll have to go to Coles from now on as they still stock both. .

They should start stocking Picari Sweat outside of the international aisle.

      Picari Sweat or Pocari Sweat?

      Parmi or Parma

      • That'll be the next poll. Followed by the pronunciation of tomatoes.

    • Thanks for the product information, never heard of that one before

i just thought the information would be helpful for some people, as i know not everyone wants to pay 100% more getting 600ml bottles or whatever :)

It's pretty big in Asia and a lot better than others like Coca-Cola's Aquarius.

Unfortunately supermarkets in general have been removing the 'middle shelf' for years without people realising, e.g. flour and sugar. You've got the cheap homebrand and then the expensive brands.

      • I'm curious, do you actually drink these after sport? Do they help?

        • Whilst I'm no nutritionist most occasions water is sufficient, albeit electrolytes do have their place for extremity's. Generally these sports drinks are just loaded with sugar but I'll admit they taste great!

        • For me it was always a glass of milk after lifting. Curbs the hunger a little bit and refreshing. Though for many people they find it makes them sick.

probably adding value to other customers. I don't think large bottles of sports drink is on many people's shopping lists.
So remove it off the shelf and add a more in demand item = more value.

  • Thanks for the update. I (rarely) bought the bottles but usually bought the sports drink powder mix from the same section - I'll hafta check to see if it's gone as well.

  • Similarly they've stopped selling their "stacked chips" (Pringles homebrand). They were my obsession for a couple of weeks :(

    Coles still have them.
But only in Orange and Yellow. Now $2.65 for the 1L

I am also fairly disgusted by this as I liked the Blue in the range too.

The one thing that has value for dollar and they remove it. SOBs.

Thanks for letting us know Coles Marketing Department.

  • It was always interesting the large bottles Powerade/Gatorade being cheaper than the smaller bottles even when not on sale.

My son thinks he plays better when he drinks Powerade/Gatorade, so we just buy him the powder DIY mix

    • Is it the Gatorade DIY mix or something similar?

I don't know much about electrolytes but your son may / will play better if the electrolytes are absorbed faster in his body.

I remember forgetting my drink to the gym and I purchased gatorade from the vending machine, dranking maybe a quarter of it before a work out on an empty stomach and I felt pretty good after about 15 minutes. Don't know if its the gatorade or a placebo effect but i felt petty good, better than my normal BCAAs i bring to the gym.

Yeah was the Gatorade powder mix but Coles/Woolies stopped selling it, so now switched over to Powerade powder.

He plays elite under 10s sports, so probably probably a placebo effect haha I think he likes the taste.

He actually likes my version of Gatorade/Powerade mix.. I dilute it less so tastes sweeter.. once he finishes, I just ask him to drink water. Too much sugar, especially the artificial stuff isn't good.
