Good deals for notebook/ultrabook from Good Guys

Hey Guys,

Picked up the 20% giftcard from goodguys recently and want to use them to purchase a notebook. I prefer getting an ultrabook, but tbh it'll mostly be used at home on the couch anyway so notebooks probably will suit that purpose also.

So looking to see if people have picked up a good price for notebooks/ultrabooks from Goodguys. I have no preferences really, just looking for good value (not into gaming or CPU intense programs)

So happy for people to point out good priced notebooks from good guys along with prices that people have been able to get.

    I was planning to get a 13" zenbook but the goodguys salesperson refused to budge from their price ($1200) so now I'm going to wait for the new models(later this month).
    I'd recommend you do the same and wait it out since your giftcards probably won't expire before the good guys gets stock of the new ultrabooks.

    Honestly though, 'Ultrabooks' are just a marketing gimmick and since you'll be using it at home, you're best off getting an ultraportable instead. You'd save half the price and it'd be just a bit heavier/thicker.

      ultrabook is a registered name of intel, it's meant to mean it has no moving parts but I've seen more than a couple that have mechanical hard drives.

    Im really a newbie when it comes to computer technology. Are the notebooks already available with IB? Are we expecting their prices to go down aswell when IB ultrabooks are released?

    If not, are there any IB notebooks that are available through GoodGuys for relatively good value? I'd prefer to purchase something with latest technology if there isn't much price difference.

    I'm also keen to pick it up before 16th June as I'll be travelling overseas and like to claim the TRS and also use it while I'm away (my current laptop is on its last legs, battery needs replacing and screen flickering)

    Ended up selling my gg gift cards and buying hpfolio 13-1008tu from officeworks. Price matched dse price of $897 so ended up with it for $852. Haven't tried it out yet so seems like it got some good reviews

      All good. I Noticed that deal from jb the day after I bought it. Officeworks was ok to beat jb price by 5% and just refunded the price difference that I originally bought it at.

    Hey I picked up a UX31E-RY009V at GG for $1110 then got it cut by almost 950 some time ago. It's a pretty good buy since I've only seen some offered for 1250 on other sites. Notebooks are also a nice pick at GG, they offer good prices for items at par with other hi-end gadgets out there. Just keep on browsing and haggling, everything starts with clicking the www.thegoodguys.com.au site. Happy browsing!
