From my reading it is not $100 off.
You add the watch and the $100 gift card to your cart and it discounts the gift card amount from your cart.
You still pay full price for the watch - you get the gift card for free.

Amazon only charges when they are ready to ship so you are actually paying full price for the gift card and getting discount on the watch.
They will charge you $100 for the $100 gift card and ship that out immediately, while applying a $100 discount on the watch which they will charge for later.
Delivery date for the gift card is showing as Aug 14 for me so plenty of time to add it to your account and apply it to the order before the Watch 5 releases on Sept 2 so it effectively is a $100 discount on the watch.

There are steps to run through - you have to select "use my gift card balance" as the first option for the pre-order (which I think is not the default).

Not an issue. Once you click to apply it to the order it's removed from your gift card balance and won't be available to spend on anything else.

The gift card is free at checkout. Don't know where you're getting that other $100 from in the equation.
In my previous comment I was addressing your cost breakdown in the table. There is no $100 charge and the watch isn't $449 checking out with the card (using your breakdown where there's a $100 GC charge).
Wonder if galaxy watches will have a trade in option soon, would be willing to trade in my galaxy4 watch but not buy a second one

Christ I hate how Amazon has the different models as colours.
I'm going to pick up the Watch 4 Classic nothing has changed except the sapphire glass, battery and temperature sensor. All non upgrades to me. Display, CPU, storage and ram are the same. I'm charging my phone everyday so charging the watch for 1 hour every 2nd to 3rd day isn't an issue.
Samsung severely overestimates their battery life, you'll be charging it daily
Depends if you leave GPS on all day yeah. You can push it to 25% battery per day if you just have Bluetooth on and just connect to your phone. Watch 5 Pro does 24h with GPS on.
I can easily get 2 days on my Watch4 44mm bluetooth. I leave it on charge while showering every evening anyway.
I'm looking at buying the pro graphite Bluetooth + 4G, with sports band, on Samsung site it come up as $725, plus bonus $100 to purchase accessories. But why do I see on third party site like Amazon, Jb hifi for $849, have done something wrong?
