Absolute steal for a great franchise.

  • +5

I really enjoyed RE:Rev1, as for the RE1 I wouldn't recommend playing it unless you're a fan, it's fairly dated.

The $1.50 deal is good, but the Revelations 2 ep 1 is normally free.

Anyone wanting to get in to the franchise should start with RE2:remake and develop an interest, then go from there with the older titles.

    • +3

First RE I played Revelations 1 on Wii U lol. Enjoyed it too except for the final boss where you had to rewatch this unskippable cutscene everytime you died
Played Zero earlier this year. It was pretty fun, takes a bit of patience to get into due to the fixed cameras and dated controls.
Get the skip door mod if you’re playing zero or the original, watching door animations got old after the first couple of doors lol

    • +7

I agree, except RE1 remake is a masterpiece IMO!

But yes, I think it would be off-putting to someone new to the franchise and new games would be a good recommendation. For me I have been playing since the original RE1 on PS1. Favourite franchise of all time.

Nearly finished all achievements on RE3 Remake (and completed RE Zero last week for the first time - stupid hookshot!).

      • +1

I did enjoy RE1 the current PC version, but I'm really looking forward to the inevitable RE2/3/4 style remake after RE4 comes out.

It's weird how they keeping continuing without releasing RE1 remake which would sell really well and help more people in to the franchise.

Zero is the only game I have left to play.

        • +6

It's weird how they keeping continuing without releasing RE1 remake

It would actually be Resident Evil Remake Remake since the 2002 version is already a remake of the original 1996

        • +4

Nobody remembers/cares about Code Veronica :( It's the one most in need of a remake.

          • +3

            @xers: I do!

Love RE:CV think it would be an amazing remake.

          • @xers: I played the 360 version recently, they should get to it, but RE1 should be the number one priority after RE4.

      • +3

Yeah maybe I'm one of those 'old guys' who is stubborn but I actually feel like RE1 has been the best of the remasters to date. Actually keeping the classic fixed cam/tank control is much more preferable to me, and I've been less of a fan of the direction that the others have taken.

Loved RE1 and RE0 as far as the Steam releases go and I wish they would throw us nostalgic oldies a bone once in a while.

        • I'm one of those old guys too, but I am still enjoying RE2 and 3 Remakes! 🧟‍♂️

My only complaint is RE7 gives me motion sickness (on XBox Series consoles) and I have tried the tips to resolve it but I guess I won't ever get to play it… this is why I have held off on village too.

          • +2

@beebul: Ah yeah. Low FoV does that to me too =(
Can't remember what the deal is with 7, but for Village on PC I need to use a mod/hack to bump it up to about 100.

I didn't hate RE2 remake, but I thought the B Scenarios were kind of half assed compared to the original.
I.. kind of wasn't a fan of RE3 remake. So much was cut and redesigned, and they sort of swapped nemesis and Mr X's behaviors from the games respectively. Can't believe how dirty they did Nemy in the RE3 remake =(

          • +1

@beebul: Get the PC version of RE7 and use this tool to increase the FoV

            https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/2181-resident-…

            • @Agret: @Stoibs @Agret - I might have to try this, only my PC is a laptop and it doesn't have a decent graphics card, it's mainly a machine for work and music production :(

Hence me getting most stuff on console..

I think a lot of first-person stuff gives me motion sickness, even the first scene in RE3 remake that is 1st person!

      • +2

I'm with you… Been playing since the PS1 days… Also as someone who suffers terribly from motion sickness my gaming is limited but this franchise has been easy for me to be able to play.

      • I second this! I didn't even realise it was a remake until……crimson heads…
I played the original and loved it - i didn't think it was dated at all but then again I could be biased.

    • RE1, specifically REmake, is a masterpiece and one of, it not my favourite in the series. The atmosphere is unparalleled to any other in the series IMO. RE Revelations is meh in comparison.

  • +5

    Good deal 👍👍👍

    • +2

      Agreed 🙌🏻

  • Are the PC versions decent?
I really feel like I’d prefer to play these on the playstation in front of a TV, but not sure if it’s better to just save the $$ on this pc bundle…

    • +2

PSN usually have a sale on RE content around halloween. I would hold off if you want to play this on console.

    • +7

FWIW the PC versions of RE1 and RE0 are the only way you can play the game at 60+fps. Not that it matters much since it's fixed camera angles anyway.

      • +6

You can also get the skip door mod on PC which is a godsend
I know the purists will say that’s not how you’re supposed to play it, the doors add suspense or something. In my experience it just adds frustration by artificially prolonging the loading, especially when you’re entering a room you just cleared

    • +3

Take your pc to the living room TV hook it up and connect your ps4/ps5 controller to the pc via bluetooth and game on 😁

      • +1

I just connect a gamepad to my laptop over bluetooth (PS4 or XB1) and then plug the laptop in over HDMI and run this program called Parsec on my PC & laptop to remotely stream the screen. Parsec also passes the gamepad through to the machine hosting the game. You could use Steam Remote Play but I found the latency on Parsec to be lower.

If you are looking for these on Xbox, you can follow the this post and use the same strategy, with the current best coupon AKS10 to get Xbox Argentina region codes.

I added everything except RE3/7/8 to Xbox because of how cheap it was. It's a pain the arse adding via Argentina VPN and can take an undefined amount of tries for each code, but it's super cheap.

  • If anyone already has or doesn't want Resident Evil 3 and has a VR headset, I have the Walking Dead Saints and Sinners from the current Humble Bundle if you're willing to trade. I don't have a VR headset unfortunately…

  • What Resident Evil game (not limited to the ones in this deal) would you recommend to someone who has never played?

I was told Reisdent Evil 4 on Wii is one of the best?

    • +1

There’s a Resident Evil 4 remake in the works that might be worth holding out for.

Im in a similar boat having not played the series, but I’d probably start with the 2 or 3 remakes or 7 and 8.

      • There's an excellent retexture mod for RE4 here: https://www.re4hd.com/?page_id=9303

Many old games have model or texture improvement mods now. Also check before playing. Most retextures use AI upscaling x2 or x4, but some go beyond that and introduce complete new textures.

    • +3

Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes. Can't go wrong with 7 and 8 as well.

    • +8

You can jump in almost anywhere but it depends what style of gameplay and genre you most want/like to play:

      • 2 and 3 remakes and 4-6 are third person shooters and focus more on action than horror in varying degrees. 4 is the most balanced. 5 and 6 are the most action heavy. 4 and 2 remake are the most highly praised out of this bunch. 5 and 6 are probably the weakest RE games, but still good games (just not great). Haven't played 3 remake but it's supposedly like 2.

      • 1 and 0 are fixed perspective old school (think Silent Hill) third person shooters and focus a bit more on the horror side of things than action (slower gameplay). Unless you're used to this style, or enjoy it, they may be harder than the others to get into.

      • 7 and 8 are in first person. 7 brings back the horror focus but is still quite action intense. 8 has more action than 7 but is still quite scary. Both are amazing games. Absolutely worth your time.

They are all connected via an overarching story but you can start almost anywhere. It would be best to start at 1 in terms of story but starting at 2, 4 or 7 (and playing consecutively from there) would be fine. The only games in my opinion that shouldn't be played out of order are 7 and 8. Much better if you play 7 before 8.

      • +1

Nice summary. I would say start with re2 remake. It’s near perfect in my mind.

      • Yes, thanks for sharing this information. So far I have only played the original PC releases of RE4 and RE1. This bundle is poorish value to me though since I only need RE2 and 3, thus $21.50 AU for each. I'm holding out for $15 AU.

        • No worries. It's also poor value for me as I own/have played all but 0 and 3 remake. Excellent deal for those who own none of the games though! 7 is on Game Pass by the way. Some of the others may be as well?

    • +2

Resident Evil 4 on PC is fine but I would recommend grabbing re4_tweaks, which has many fixes.

If you want to update the GFX a bit, there is the HD project which already includes re4_tweaks.

    • I didn't play these back in the day, came to the series with Village which was great. Played 3, a lot of fun.

Tried 6 next and felt I'd done my dash, clunky and not enjoyable.

      I stopped there.

    • I played the RE2 remake as a virgin to the game and enjoyed it. It's uncomfortably stressful at times though lol.

  • +4

You can also play Resident Evil 2, 3, 7 & 8 Village in VR with praydog's mod as well.

    https://github.com/praydog/REFramework

    • YES I played the castle area(village) in quest 2 and god I was blown away, plus u can use oculus controller for motion control/shooting. May Praydog have blessed life for doing such good job for free

    • RE 4 and RE 7 alreally have VR natively but only on select VR platforms like the playstation VR and oculus Quest store.

  • +1

They flogging it off before an RE4 remake? To hopefully drive sales of RE4 at a higher price?

  • +2

Thanks OP. Really liked the original Revelations back on the 3DS (I rememebr getting a bundle which included an atachment for an extra joystick). Can't complain for $1!

  • +2

50% off makes RE Village $47.47, but don't forget there's an expansion pack coming for $28.49. Better to wait for goty imho.

    • You can get Village from CDkeys for $31.29 if you can’t wait

    • +2

Disappointed by that 50% off coupon. Steam now selling VIII at $57 as regular price, I was hoping HB will give us another 50% off $57, instead of 50% off $95 :(

It turns out I already had these in my steam account feel free to use:

Resident Evil Revelations 2 - Episode 1: Penal Colony
    20ZJ8-7DZXW-KDQTC

    Resident Evil HD REMASTER
    4MHMP-KML55-HGZFL

    Resident Evil Revelations
    458MF-L3VN5-9PDY5

    • But I thinks the code for RE Revelations 2 here is all four episodes (referring to the Deluxe Edition, not sure why they even include Episode 1 pack).

  • +4

Nice find! I did want to play the original just for the Jill Sandwich!

    • +1

I'm at work…Should I avoid looking up what "Jill Sandwich" is till I get home?

      • I don't know about Jill Sandwich but I heard Blue Waffle is nice. 😂

  • Sigh… add it to the pile of shame I guess…

  • +2

    /Spits out Jill sandwich.

Bargain, I paid hundreds for all those.

  • +4

If you're someone who doesn't own these, this is a no brainer.

As a LOOOONG time fan since the original RE1, I absolutely adore these games.

Recently played through RE4 on my Quest 2 and holy hell… Might have helped that I barely remembered the game from the original 2004 play through I did, but man what an experience. I hope the guys who did the VR remake get commissioned to do other titles in the series as it almost rivals Half Life Alyx (which is hands down the best VR game experience at the moment and I played on my Index).

Opinion on the games based on memory -

Resident Evil 0 - Haven't played since my og playthrough back when it first came out but don't remember enjoying it that much. Felt more like a DLC to RE1 then a game in it's own right. Guess I just didn't care enough of what happened to the Bravo Team. Does add to the lore a bit with the original Umbrella founders.

Resident Evil 1 Remake - I mean… it's a masterpiece. Sure it still has the tank controls and it doesn't quite have the original cringey yet amazing dialogue from the OG version (HERE'S A LOCKPICK FOR YOU THE MASTER OF UNLOCKING) but it's a brilliant game and deserves to be played through.

Resident Evil 2 Remake - RE2 was always my favourite entry when I was younger. It just added so much to the original formula. The remake itself is only a few years old and is an amazing game it its own right. Highly recommend.

Resident Evil 3 Remake - RE3 was always one of the weaker games in the series. RE3 the remake took me 3 hours to finish on the hardest difficulty my first time through. It's a disappointing follow up after RE2 Remake (I found out later a different studio worked on it which explains the quality difference). Nemesis doesn't hold a candle to Mr X from the RE2 remake.

Resident Evil 4 - This is considered the best one by a lot of people. I remember hating that they made it more actiony at first YET you still had to plant your feet and fire. The game is made a lot harder by the enemies trying to flank you and coming from all directions and the story is VERY silly… But playing it through in VR recently has given me a new appreciation for it (in saying that you can move while shooting in the VR version which probably made me enjoy it more).

Resident Evil 5 - This one cops a lot of flak for being too actiony but it's actually one of the better co-op story experiences that I've had. It copped flak for being a racist game when it came out because the story takes place and people had issue with a white hero shooting African zombies. One of the weaker entries.

Resident Evil 6 - The only main stream RE that I never finished. This one is straight up not an RE game, it's some weird linear action game. Even the co-op experience is not enough to save this one. I managed to get through 3/4 of the main scenarios but just could not bring myself to care enough to finish the final one. WEEEAK.

Resident Evil 7 - A very polarising entry that people either loved or hated. They switched the POV to first person, introduced a new character who is probably the most oblivious character ever (he has his foot cut off, sticks it back on and uses some random liquid and it sticks back on and he doesn't even question it for example) and they changed it to a very - you're unarmed and running for the first 1/3 of the game which creates a lot of tension and fear…. Personally I really enjoyed the game for what it was although the last 1/3 of the game is def the weakest (when you finally get armed and can fight back).

Resident Evil 8 - Direct sequel to 7 with the same character spouting the best one liners (Bad guy - CURSSSE YOUUUUU - Protagonist - YOU'RE THE ONE WHOSE CURSED!), way more actiony but I still enjoyed it. Story is totally whack but thats RE really in a nut shell.

The Revelation Titles - As much as a RE fan I am, I could not get into these ones. The first one was made for 3DS and it shows. And I never tried the second one.

  • +1

yeah you don't get RE 8 the village you just get a 50% off voucher. Just FYI

    • +2

Village full price is now $57 on Steam but still $95 at Humble. You’d probably get a better deal during the Steam Sale than using the 50% off coupon

      • I bought and finished RE 8 when it was released. lol I don't have this issue.

  • +1

Damn bought it and then realised i had most of it :(.

Why complained? It's OzBargain, buy first and think later XD
