      I couldn't make it past pages 8-9

  • Are these frypans any good?

    • tefal are one of the best :)

    • very good, far better than my over $200 crap bought from myer. far better value than that british guy's cookware.

        Yar :(

I bought a $150+ Jamie Oliver pot (8lt/10lt) after a few dozen uses the "non-stick" coating cracked in several places and little chips would come off. I stopped using it mostly because I wasn't sure if it would destroy it or how dangerous the non-stick coating can be to your health.

We had a non-stick scanpan and the coating also cracked and was falling off and must have fallen into the food. After googling the health effects, I bought a Scanpan Impact series stainless steel frypan and it's not that much harder to clean than a non-stick, it literally just wipes clean very easily.

Never buying a non-stick again, ever.

        • Ya I think after all the complaints they received and the bad press they were forced to change the formula for their Non-stick (Tefal now display it contains no Lead/PDFE/etc and is recyclable somehow).

If I could find a light enough pan that was also cheapish and cast iron I would just use that.
I still bought one of these new Tefal pans today (Hard anodised tend to be much stronger and harder to scratch) will see how it holds up to an onslaught of steaks and egg and bacon breakfasts over the coming months; its certainly much thinner than my previous Tefal pan.
I have a feeling it won't last much past its 12 month warranty.

Just be careful which ones you get because tefal made a cheaper range of frypans to sell in stores like target, big w etc. to make them more affordable for people.. I bought one from myer years ago for $100~ and only had to replace it a few months ago. I then bought one from target when they were 40% off, the non stick is no longer really non stick (I did take particular care of it) and the surface is no longer flat but that might just be my wife's fault :P

    • probably your wife's fault. my "cheap" frypan which i paid about $30 when they had 30% off is still as good as a new one after 6 months use.

    • Tefal have a range that are made in china as well as a range that are made in France. From memory big w sells the French one while target and Kmart sell the Chinese one.

      • Mine is made in China, not france

      • The last couple of these I bought from Target were the "made in france" variety. I can't say enough good things about the ones I have bought. We use them a lot, and they are good as new. I have one that would be about 3 years old, and I couldn't fault it in any way whatsoever.

      • Just bought a 26 cm "ISSENCIA' frying pan from KMART for $19 which is made in France. However the anodized ones there were made in China and the 26cm one was $25.

      • I bought three from of these from Target last week (all at half price). They are all labelled "Made in France".

  • does anyone know how much the 30cm fry pan was?? I picked one up on clearance (damaged packagin), and it scanned in at around 21$ - very heavy duty, with the pretty copper patterns on the base …

    • $27.00
      WAS $54.00

  • of the Kmart tefal pans at half price (from back page of catalogue), from memory the 30cm ones were $26-30 (2 different 30cm ones)

  • Most Tefal Frypans were 50% off last week at Target. So stock may be limited.

  • can they be used on induction cooktop?

    • Not that I'm aware of. Also, I must be in need of another eye check, as I can't find this deal in their current catalog.

      • I can't find it in the catalog either. I am going to Target soon though, will report back.

    • The Hard Anodised ones can be used on induction (the ones made in China)

The others I am not sure, find a picture of the package and look for a little box with microwave symbols coming off it.
Kind of looks like a square "Sun".

  • just got back from Target Hornsby, there is no discount on normal Tefal frypans.

    • If there is a Kmart nearby, just go there and you might find a better price. They also have a 50% off promo there.

  • If you are near Peters of Kensington they are selling tefal frypans at half the rrp as well. I bought one a few months back and vaguely remembered its made in France.

  • Not on sale in store

I went into Target today and was told it was a 2 day sale ended yesterday. I was ready for an argument only didn't get one. I just told them I had been told it was listed till 13th online only they are out of online stock when I checked so I had to come & get it. They honoured this deal without a fuss.

This is the second tefal I have bought. First is 18 months old and slightly discoloured where I overheated it.
Use the dot in the middle to avoid overheating it and you won't have an issue. I use mine almost everyday and love it but I am pretty careful not to overheat it & don't let the kids use it unless I am there.

I gave this new one to my daughter as I expect mine will last a good few years yet. Yes, I gave her the lecture on the importance of the dot & not letting her housemates screw it up. Wonder how that's going to go. :-?

I am a bloke with not much kitchen stuff after a divorce so I don't have a lot of experience with this type of thing Only I really have to say it's one of the best things I bought.

I often fry without adding oil or spray. When I am done, just wipe with a paper towel and it's clean. It goes in the diswasher whenever I am too busy/unorganised to wipe it while its hot. I bought that one at kmart so is probably the cheap one although I think it was $80 (it has the steel handle so I can put it in the oven & bake/roast in it -not like these).

I love shopping at Target. They really try hard to keep me happy.

    PS
Target clothes for the kids are always good too……

    PPS
I am not associated with Target or Tefal & consider myself to be a very demanding customer.

    PPPS
    The one I bought today was a 30cm "Evidence" @ $55/2

    • Cool story bro :) needs more dragons!
