Good deal for this CarPlay adapter. My partner has one and it works quite well. Price has been hanging around $99 for a while, but now is $79 but you can get it for $59 with the $20 coupon that's deducted at checkout.

NOTE this will only work if you already have wired CarPlay in your vehicle.

I’ve used 3+ different types of WCP adapters and this one is by far the best I’ve tried. I paid $99 so this is a bargain.

    • thanks for that ! I was wondering how good it is !

how quickly does it connect from when u start the car?

      • +1

Only 5-10 seconds slower than my new factory WCP…

  • This one doesn’t work if you have Sony CarPlay system.
    It will have no sound

    • All Sonys?

    • You've tested it on every Sony CarPlay-compatible headunit?

      • How would I be able to test every?
        Xav 8000 doesn’t

        • +1

How would I be able to test every?

Your original comment suggested you may have.

  • +2

Reviews suggest that it works great or doesn't work at all. Worth a try I guess…
Has anyone tried this on a vw golf?

    • yeah exactly, amazon returns are super easy when things don't work.

  • Lots of reviews saying it disconnects frequently and needs to be paired again.

  • Can someone please advise what this gadget do? I have a 2014 Kia, can it improve my car sound system?

    • +4

Makes wired Apple CarPlay headunits wireless.

    • It basically making your existing wired CarPlay into a wireless one by connecting this to your system, as commented above, it may work for your car it may not, so your chance to try it.

    • +1

Does your car have apple carplay and do you have an iPhone ?

      • +1

No it doesn't have apple car play. Useless for me I suppose then?

        • +2

          Correct. Useless for you.

  • +1

    Wonder why no android

    • +2

Probably because it's a different device:

      https://www.amazon.com/Motorola-MA1-Wireless-Android-Adapter…

      • need a local option though :)

      • Bit random, completely different device at a higher price.

My point is, why when most head units in cars support both Apple car play AND Android auto, does this unit only support Apple car play…?

        • Because headunits are designed to support both. But this isn’t.

That’s like saying, Xbox plays DVDs and Xbox games. So why doesn’t a DVD player support Xbox games.

          • @PainToad: My bad, I thought this deviced communicated with the phone via Bluetooth/wifi…

  • +3

i got this one https://www.aawireless.io/ , it is extremely good, quite expensive and long wait for its arrived but worth the wait, seamless connection. Highly recommended

    • I also have this device and can recommend, but it's worth noting that it's for wireless AndroidAuto, not Apple CarPlay (which the device in this deal is for).

    • How was the shipping?
Also does it work each and every time you get in the car?

      • I bought in Jan during China lockdown which delayed till March arrived to Australia. It works seamlessly everytime i started the car, no more messy wires or annoying disconnected

        • thanks mate!

    • I also have had AA wireless since January.
      Mitsubishi Outlander.
Works very well with the odd crash or Android Auto glitch.
Like at the moment, I can't sent voice navigation requests unless I use the watch to send nav requests.

      • Hi,
On few of these adapters I saw Mitsubishi is not compatible ?? I have an Outlander and use apple car play. Does this work for apple car play ?

        • Haven't tested with Apple. Only androids.
          But 'should' work fine.

          Even steering controls work seamlessly

          • @Elias11: If I may ask -Which model year is you outlander please ?

            • @BamOz: Sure. 2017 safety pack (not exceed) but they all have the same screen etc

  • I never knew a thing like this existed! Now I'm searching for a deal for an android version… anyone have any suggestions?

  • I've got one of these units.
It starts up and connects pretty quickly, I would say less than 30 sec.
It can be unreliable though, even after playing with the settings. Sometimes no audio at all. sometimes the screen just freezes up and nothing happens so you need to reboot the unit.
for $60 though, I would say roll the dice.

    • I have had a similar experience - works most of the time, just the occasional glitch.
I find if I’m not playing any audio and the first thing I try and do after booting up is play or send a message, there will almost always be no sound. When there’s no sound, I switch to another audio source (eg radio or Bluetooth audio) and get some sound to come out, then switch back to Apple CarPlay and the sound will work.
When it freezes (rarely), I just unplug the USB and plug back in again to get it to come back.
My biggest gripe is that once it connects after turning the car on, it won’t automatically play whatever was playing last, like it does when you use the regular wired connection.

  • Anyone tried this on an android headunit? you know those ebay jobbies that look similar to the OEM fit? Very interested but don't want to jump on it unless theres confirmation it works.

    • -1

Not a chance this would work with Android. There are other options for android. See comments above.

      • Not a single person has read this question correctly. The headunit is running Android, it has carplay as part of its system. Wired carplay already exists with these headunits.

        • Fair enough. Probably should have added that it’s android with CarPlay. Didn’t even know that existed. Also assume you downvoted me. I wasn’t the one who downvoted you for the record.

          • -1

@[Deactivated]: I added enough information for the people relevant to know what I was talking about. I was asking for real world experience from those that have this sort of headunit, if you don't know they exist, maybe just don't comment or hey, ask for clarification.

    • -2

This model works with only Apple devices.

      • -1

Didn't read my question properly, the HEADUNIT is android. I am not asking about android phones.

        • Man stop getting so upset. You’re assuming people know about Android headunits with CarPlay. I didn’t know they existed and I assume many more don’t. I mean the concept sounds ridiculous when Android has their own version.

          • @[Deactivated]: I am not assuming anything, I asked a question and several of you assumed I was talking about something else. As the old saying goes - if you don't know, just don't say anything. Not upset at all fwiw, people just need to read properly.

            • @doobey1231: Ok. Well I’m going to assume that a lot of people don’t know Android headunits support an Apple feature. So may be best to add that to your comment in the future. People responding were only trying to help. Chill bro.

        • -1

@doobey1231 It is a common sense..if you are having wired CarPlay then it should work…I think you haven’t read the description properly.

    • This is not for an Android headunit, it's only for vehicles and aftermarket headunits that already support wired Apple CarPlay.

      • The android headunit is an aftermarket headunit that already supports wired carplay.

        • Your original post didn't specify that, a lot of the Android units don't have the CarPlay functionality built in. I used to have an Android headunit in one of my previous cars (2018 Nissan QASHQAI), and CarPlay was an additional dongle, not built in.

It's impossible to know if it will work reliably or even at all considering the different models and software across the different Android headunits. Best best would be to buy one and see.

  • No $20 coupon showing

  • How to get $20 coupon?
Mine still showing $79 at checkout

    • Can’t see it either.

    • Because it's expired.

  • No coupon available

    • Because it's expired.

  • Has anyone used this on a Mazda with the new infotainment system (the bigger one)?

  • Saw the $20 off button once; refreshed the page and it disappeared. Can anyone else see it ?

    • Because it's expired.

Looks like a good deal if it works.
I bought this for my 2021 RAV4 from US Amazon for AUD $165
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08GLVW169/ref=ppx_od_dt_b…
There's a delay of about 30 secs on startup.
Occasionally if it doesn't connect, I hold the power button on the head unit to restart head unit and then it connects.
Also got one of these magsafe chargers https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B097BGJP7Z/ref=ppx_yo_d… plugged into cigarette lighter outlet for a completely wireless setup.

  • One of the important thing is support for multiple profile and how easy to choose connected phone. This becomes important when more than 1 person uses the same car such as husband and wife or kids. So everyone's phones will be set to connect to the device. Imagine your car is in the garage or driveway of your house. Often it connects to the phone which is not the driver's but the one at at home. In this case you will need to move away from the house to break that connection or ask the phone owner to disable the bluetooth/wifi and reboot the device so it would connect to driver's phone.

Maybe 6-8 months ago I watched a comparison review on YouTube about these devices. Some models (I forgot which ones) had support for multiple profile which was providing option to choose which phone to connect.

  • Darn I missed the coupon
… will keep in cart just in case they do it again.

  • Anyone know why this one is so much cheaper than the other unit on the same listing ($230+)?

  • I've got one of these, worked relatively well in my 2019 Ford Everest (SYNC3), and works flawlessly in my 2022 Toyota LandCruiser.

Beauty of Amazon is if it doesn't work for you, just send it back. All these things are hit and miss for their support and stability.

  • got it today, works perfectly (in a Kia). really like it ! no more cables !

  • Mine arrived yesterday evening. Fitted in my MK7 R Golf and so far seems to work perfectly fine.
Happy this was also ordered through Amazon, which will make any returns easy.

  • Got it today, works well! It starts up with the car quickly and I haven't had any issues so far.

  • Works flawlessly with a Kenwood eXcelon DNX995S after market head unit.
