    Great price for that combo

  • For owners, what's the AF like? I have an old E-M10 II. I like the size of the E-M10 and E-M5 but would like the focus performance of E-M1.

    • I also have an old E-M10, and have been waiting on something like this since the Kogan E-M1/12-40 2.8 deal fell through.
I think the E-M5 III has the autofocus from the E-M1 II which uses phase detect.

    • I had an E-M5iii before jumping to Fujifilm, and I had an E-M10ii before that plus E-PL5 and 8. The 5 is significantly faster and more confident focusing especially in video and continuous AF cos it uses hybrid phase detect and contrast detect. It has the same AF system as the E-M1ii basically

  • What a massivev original price hike for the black! Different materials?

  • Olympus Promotion currently running for this camera (includes the kit with 12-45 lens), get a bonus 25mm f/1.8 or 40-150 f/4-5.6. Needs to be from an authorised retailer, so might need to price match if they don't accept Amazon. https://shop.olympus.com.au/promotion/chooseyouradventure

      It looks expired though.
"when you purchase an OM-D E-M5 Mark III from an authorised retailer between 1 July – 31 July 2022"

      • Oh yeh, didn't catch that :(

  • No idea about the implications in camera or lens quality, but Olympus sold its camera arm to JIP last year. I currently have an Olympus and it makes me curious about switching to Panasonic 4/3rds or even go full frame with a Sony for my next purchase.

JIP rebranded it to OM Systems and seem to be going full steal ahead. They announced an OM-1 - basically an upgrade to the EM1-III - and some new lenses. So looks like they're pretty committed.

The 43rumours site suggests we will see a new OM5 released next month, but it's definitely just a rumour.

Yep looks like it'll be around for a while, I think I read OM Systems is 3rd in terms of total retail camera sales, and I only hear good things about their new models.

Even if the company did go belly it, it's a good deal for what it is and should last a long time, and Panasonic still seems committed to m43.

  • I would have jump on this if I have not jump ship to iPhone 13 pro🤣🤣

  • This or LUMIX G9? In term of photo and video quality

    • Of course G9, a Panasonic legend!!

Just the Panasonic menu system will save your day…..

      • Another vote for the G9. It is such a solid well featured camera and the best bang for buck around when it comes to m43. The EM-5 MKIII does feel cheap with its all plastic body, a far cry from how well built the MKII version was. Hopefully the rumoured OM-5 will correct that.

        • Yeah tried to hold the olympus the other day, it was a bit plasticky for me. Wish it got magnesium body like the rest.

    • G9 is similar price but without lens

      • This is sale that trying to get rip of old stock.

Buyer who understand what G9 can do and pull the trigger are likely to hand-pick the lens they want.

        • G9 is older than e-m5

        • I'm just a beginner, is the kit Lens good enough or any suggestions for a good one but not too expensive for beginners like me? Cheers

          • @kodoq: This is a great lens. Small, light and good range with great optics - don't even think of it as a kit lens

            • @chartparker: Sorry, I meant the Lumix G9 + 12-60mm f3.5-5.6 not the Olympus

    • The G9 autofocus may not be as good as the EM-5 III
