How do I get this offer if I’m already on Coles Mobile?

    • +1

Turn off the auto renew option - then about a month out from your plan expiring you’ll get an offer of 20% off renewal option (there’s a couple of choices) with the up to 50gb existing data carryover option. That makes it cheaper than this offer. As for Volte roll out to existing customers - that will happen progressively

      • Is this a firm option or just a random offer? Mine is about to expire.

        • When does yours actually expire?
First you need to have auto recharge turned off in order to attract the offer
Mine appeared at the beginning of the month I was due to expire. It’s visible in the Coles Mobile app and I received an SMS with it as well

          • @Bodogbodog: Thanks for the info.

Mine is due expire on 2/9, just turned off the Auto Recharge. So I guess I'll have to wait until October and see if I receive the 20%off SMS offer, or in-app option. Right?

            • @archiechan: Mine is due on 1/9 and I got the offer at the start of August. I have another one due end of Sept but nothing received for that one yet. I suggest you leave it until a week out then either ring or message them and ask if they can provide a discount for renewal (leave auto renew off of course)

              • @Bodogbodog: Thanks budd, will report back

                • @archiechan: Yeah also got a month expiry notification text and email earlier along with an offer for 20% off to recharge within the same message.

Would VoWIFI be available as well?

    • +1

I ported to Coles mobile today (from Belong due to recent price increase). It is showing 'VO -WiFi' on top right.

      • I activated a new number with Coles mobile a few weeks ago. And i'm not getting VoWiFi through my phone. Even but i used to got VoWiFi just fine through Boost on the same phone. I don't know if my phone yet supports VoWiFi through Coles mobile. I heard it depends if the phone has the correct VoWifi support for the carrier through its software. I've got to wait for Oppo to send a software update for the A74 5G phone to support it with Optus.

        • On their Q&A's on their website, says vowifi and volte slowly rolling out to current customers
          So may also be that?
I'm also with Coles Mobile, and getting neither

  • Thanks, my Catch plan is due for renewal soon and this saves me $21 !

Come on woolies, follow suit so I can get 10% off groceries too!

    • Don't forget, discount Woolies giftcards.

    • Woolies got the gift cards so it's more like 15

      • Didn't even know about the additional gift card discount as mum already got it with seniors, but good to know!

        • Seniors get 5% instead of 4% off.

          • @Techie4066: Woolworths mobile only gives 4% off?

            • @nicholasv: As of recently, yes.

              • +1

@Techie4066: Hopefully seniors doesn't follow suit! I used to get 5% with racv but that's down to 3% and 4% for wish and woolworths cards, respectively

        • How can seniors get gift card discounts ? More details please.

  • No 5g access ?

    • +3

3G and 4G only at the moment.

  • Would this work on spacetalk watches?

  • +2

Glad to hear VoLTE is finally available on Coles mobile.

Hopefully there's a good deal once my Optus prepaid expires.

    • +2

Best to port out to a different network first, less problems.

      • +1

Ah yep very true, thanks for that!

  • +7

Can't wait for this to roll out to existing customers. The call quality without VoLTE/VoWIFI is pretty much trash.

  • -1

    when this promotion end?

  • +1

Is VoLTE available on amaysim yet? Uses the same main carrier (Optus) as Coles Mobile.

  • Anyone able to recharge a current Coles Mobile service for $99?
If not, would port out & back same day work?

  • +1

    What is voLTE

    • +2

      Voice over LTE (aka 4G).

VoLTE calls sound a lot clearer than 3G or landline calls, because they use data instead of the standard voice network (don't worry, they don't count towards your data allowance).

When a carrier does not have VoLTE, any calls you make will automatically go through 3G.

If I travel outside Australia, do I receive SMS messages?
I understand colesmobile doesn't support international roaming.
Just wanted to know if able to only receive SMS on international roaming.
    Can anyone help to clarify?

    • +1

Now that Coles has VoLTE and more importantly VoWifi, you should be able to recieve SMS and calls if you are on a strong WiFi connection, without needing to rely on any phone towers overseas.

      • +1

From my understanding Optus which is the provider for Coles disable Wifi calling overseas.

You can only use wifi calling within Australia or with an Australian Ip address.

I believe this is done on purpose to force users to pay for roaming.

        • That's annoying.

Perhaps you could access it over an Australian VPN?

          • @ParmiAndChips: This is interesting. I'm overseas end of year for a country that's listed in free texts, and will have access to pretty consistent Wi-Fi for my needs. Tempted to port into this and try using my home network IP through wireguard vpn on my pi. I'll probably grab a local sim anyway as a dual-sim back-up, just nice to get messages and calls on my regular number while on wifi.

          • @ParmiAndChips: As long as you're using something like a travel router (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/tag/travel-router) and connecting to that, it should work.
It won't work if you connect to the VPN on the same phone - as the phone won't use it to do WiFi Calling over

    • +4

      Roaming is now supported

    • +1

Yes you can received SMS for free when travelling overseas.

  • Great value! Thanks, OP.

  • Anyway to get this if you are already on Coles?

  • This would still be dependent on Optus supporting your device. My previous phone moto g6 plus had volte but was not supported by Optus.

  • I bought and used this last year from July 2021 to July 2022.
The quality of coverage and service deteriorated through time!
Will never go back to it :D

Currently on 1 month plans until I find a good one.
Kogan Mobile has been good so far!

    • +1

Why don't you go on boost? I've been on it for nearly a year and it's great

      • I'm currently on that (1 month —- $1) :D
Boost is more expensive compared to Kogan Mobile :D
Will go with either Boost or Kogan finally

  • +2

Have to say, not impressed with the data speed on Coles Optus, having moved from Boost recently. Before the days of longer duration deals I moved monthly between various carriers and MVNOs, so I know what should be possible. My downloads ping at about 10-16ms and range from 2 to 25 Mbps at best with full signal. I'm guessing Optus is heavily throttled through Coles and if data rate is important don't go there.

    • What's your location. Metro or regional?

      • Geelong

  • +1

Does this count towards spending for flybuys offers?

    • Yes. Have done so in the past and even paid with discount E gift cards

      • Where's the best place to get discounted gift cards?

Existing Coles Mobile customer here. Volte/WiFi calling enabled after a quick chat with a very helpful Coles CSR.

I asked for it to be switched on - the weekend of August 6, and it was enabled Mon, August 8. Flawless switchover on my Samsung s20 FE 5g. I understand eventually all existing customers will be migrated, and the service will fire up subject to the Volte compatibility of your mobile handset. I received an email confirming that the service had been activated. Nice!

This service is a keeper. Hasn't missed a Volte/WiFi calling/SMS/MMS beat. Calls - crystal clear. Love it.

Great value IMO - all things considered.

    • How did you ask? Did you call them or live chat?

      • Called them. For me, painless.

  • +1

VoLTE is enabled, but what about Wifi calling? Can someone confirm if Wifi calling is also enabled? Thanks.

  • Thanks op

  • Can anyone advise if Coles Mobile has esim? I checked their site and it doesn't mention it (so I assume they don't have esim yet) but I wanted to check.

    • No eSim on the Coles services - yet…

  • How does it work with phone and watch combo, can you get one plan to run lte on both devices or seperate plans for watch and phone?

  • when is the last day to activate? My existing plan in Boost expires in 50 days.

    • +1

It says: Offer ends 30/8/22, unless withdrawn earlier. Ongoing recharges revert to standard price of $120 with 60GB or as otherwise advertised. Activate within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised in the promotion, whichever is earlier, to get advertised inclusions.

  • Awesome. Phoned them and enabled it. VoWifi now appearing on my poco x3.. just need to test it….

If this doesn't work well I'll have to move on from Coles, reception over the last year has been terrible at my place.

  • What’s the best method to know if you have good reception with this provider optus.
My daughter got a Realme c21 for her birthday and I’m not sure if to get a cheap sim or get this as spread over 12 month’s might be a better deal.

As the Realme c21 is locked to optus I don’t really have much options.
Myself and wife use boost and we would never use anyone else.
But as it’s a sim for daughter and for her phone I thought it might be good option.

Myself and wife also got a couple of optus phones on a deal different to daughters a while back and same thing probably locked and it be nice to have them set up as well.

Is the Realme c21 got volte I’m not at home to know obviously.

Is this deal online only or in store as well can you use a flybys to reduce more

    • Ask Optus to Unlock the RealMe C21. They should do it for free. Do it via a Web browser and the Optus "Support chat" window.
PS: Try a different carrier SIM first, in case it is already unlocked!

  • Does Coles mobile offers wifi calling for receiving calls and sms while you are in overseas?

    • Yes it does now.

      • Thanks JGreninja, do you know whether Coles Mobile geo block wifi calling?

        • Not sure about that. I will discover it in November when I travel overseas.

          • @JGreninja: No worries, enjoy your trip in Nov :)

  • Can someone explain international roaming to me.

Looking at the Coles rates, receiving an SMS has no cost, I have a dual sim phone so can I just set my phone to use a SIM I buy overseas for all data and calls but still get any sms messages that people send to my Australian number and it won't cost me anything at all?

Do I need to enable it before I leave Australia?

Edit: Hmm, I think I have to pay Coles $25 just to enable international roaming…not exactly the bargain I was hoping for considering I only want it in case I need to get an SMS for a password reset or one time pin to login to something.

    • Your should be able to receive SMS overseas without doing anything. Confirmed from chat support that international roaming was removed but back now.

    • +3

No international calling and no VoLTE/VoWiFi.

  • +5

I just signed up and activated my plan. Confirmed international roaming is back and VOLTE AND VOWIFI was active by default. The port literally took 1 minute. Getting full bars and around 90mbps on 4G in Melbourne CBD.

  • Help please - would I be able to pick this at a Coles itself or is it only by delivery? -asking because current plan ends 30th and standard delivery is 3-8 business days
    Thanks!

    • +1

Coles stores have this plan and Sim on special in their weekly catalogue starting on Wednesday - so you can pick up a Sim from a store then
      https://www.coles.com.au/catalogues-and-specials/view-all#vi…
Note I am assuming you are new to Coles as these Sims are available for new services only as opposed to recharges of existing Coles services. If you’re an existing customer you should be able to get a 20% off offer via chat or turning off auto renew in the Coles Mobile App

      • Thanks for confirming !
Picked one up, and yes , I'll be a new Coles signup.
A great replacement for Boost as we need the included overseas calls

    • +1

Shows in the Stationary & Media catagory.

  • Just wondering can we pick this up instore?

    • +1

See above comment! If store has stock just grab there but no you can't order via ColeMobile online site and collect in store.
