This isn’t the regular bbq ur thinking of with bulk buy sausage pack 2kg for 13 dollars lol

  • Steaks in general :)

  • Does this winery still have Chinese owners?

    • +2

I don't think so, it's all owned by Accolade Wines
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accolade_Wines

    • Not sure why that is relevant, Grant Burge was acquired by Accolade Wine in 2015.

      • +8

It's not relevant to the bargain itself but I can see why someone might want to choose not to support a Chinese conglomerate. It's actually ok to ask where your money may end up.

        • +2

Problem is no one will have the answer as Accolade Wine is a private entity.

@jackyli1204: As has been said, Grant Burge is owned by Accolade Wines who are in turn owned by the Carlyle Group - a Washington DC based Private Equity company. :-)

            cellarone.com.au is owned by Accolade.

    • Think you got the wrong winery..

      • Yeah it was mentioned a couple of years ago, not sure why, as mentioned above looks like an investment business owns it. I had tried to direct my spending towards Australian owned family businesses, probably still will as investment companies never really have the customers best interest as their first thought.

        • You would have to look else where, not many mainstream wine brands are "family owned" nowadays.

          • @jackyli1204: One here <waves> :-)
            Gratefully not mainstream :-))

    • Seriously? What has it got to do with the price of fish; on a Cold Saturday morning?

    • +2

I think you are mistaking this with Burge Family Wines - they did sell to a Chinese owner a few years ago.

        Cheers

  • I've got some credits to use. Anyone know which is better out of:
    Houghton Premium release Cabernet Sauvignon
The Ink cab save (Margaret River or Coonawarra)

    • I would pick the Houghton. I hear the Ink cab sav is overly sweet.

I'd go for the Blackwell Shiraz 👌

        Lovely drop

      • Already have plenty from another deal. Forgot to add this will generally be used as cooking wine.

        • The filsell or blackwell?

        • If you're cooking it's generally safer to go with a merlot, easier to reduce without too many tannins ruining your flavours.

          Depends what you're cooking though.

Thanks Tangenyahu, that worked. I hadnt used those links before.
And Thanks for the deal- fantastic!
BTW Filsell is better than a BBQ quaffer. Chris Ringland is a quaffer

    • +1

Chris Ringland does some amazing wines.

      You can't compare a Filsell $50rrp to his $20 Dan Murphy's range.

Probably look at the Reserve, but you won't find it heavily discounted often.
