This deal has been out for a few weeks now but no one had posted it yet.

ShopBack has a new way to pay in-store at venues via the app called ShopBack Pay. Currently only available at selected Sydney cafes/restaurants.

As part of the launch, get $5 bonus cashback (with minimum $5 spend) for using ShopBack Pay for the first time. Eligible selected Sydney cafes/restaurants should have this “Pay” logo on the cafe/restaurant page in the app: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/217669/97643/d0356341-…

How it works:

  1. Scan QR code in one of our cafe/restaurant partners to open the ShopBack app (each venue will have their own ShopBack sign/poster at the store with the QR code).

  2. Pay your total bill using your linked credit card and/or cashback (ShopBack Pay allows you to select if you want to use the cashback balance in your account. If you opt-in to use your cashback balance, payment would be taken out from your cashback balance first and then the remainder from your linked bank card. ShopBack Pay allows you to use the cashback balance in your account no matter how small your cashback balance is, so that’s pretty neat).

  3. Earn the $5 bonus cashback & the individual cafe/restaurant cashback (the $5 bonus cashback gets approved in a few days & the individual cafe/restaurant cashback is usually approved in your next purchase at the same cafe/restaurant).

Have tried out at a few places and haven’t had any issues yet.

        Hey hey @ilovefullprice and @mick123, happy to help with some clarity. The program here is for both users and the merchants, we're incentivising the venue by offering them loyalty from patrons who are going back to redeem that cashback. That way, everybody wins.

        I had similar issue when using ShopBack Pay in store too. I was at Machi Machi (Regent Place) and I knew they previously had a shopback QR code sign displayed at the counter but I was reluctant to try until this offer came up.

        One day, when I was about to give it a try, I can't see the sign at the counter so I asked the staff, she just simply told me it is not available and ask me to pay in other ways.

        Anyway, at the end I was able to use ShopBack Pay at CoCo (World Square) without any problem. Both spending cashback & bonus got tracked instantly, previously with my CBA credit card purchased at CoCo, I often had to report it back to ShopBack to get my spending tracked. With the ShopBack Pay, it fixed the CBA card's tracking issue.

      If you just use your (linked) bank card to pay, you might not be able to use the cashback balance in your SB account tho.

        Which is fine for me as i prefer to keep the balance grows but i thought this would only work if you scan the barcode?

          For this $5 bonus cashback to work, you need to use SB Pay, ie. you need to use/scan the QR code.

    I was in Sydney for a work trip and paid with a linked card and it tracked instantly. I didn't realise i had to go back again for it. I just had a look and i need to go back by the 27th for $6.67. I guess it will get rejected then!!! I actually went there thinking i would get cashback….

      Bonuses are paid about immediately but the cashback ("return cashback") is paid on next visit afaik
