HOAX?: Phillips Cashback Promotion: Due to a Technical Issue When Your Claim Was Lodged, Your Bank Details Were Not Recieved

Update::
Confirmed to be genuine. If you go to the below webpage, it does confirm philipspromotions.com.au as a authorised 3rd party contracted to process claims.

Interestingly a week after i lodged by cashback promotional claim for $100 after purchasing a air fryer, I got this email. I almost clicked the links until i realized the email address. Has anyone else gotten this? and how would they know about the cashback and my name and email? Does anyone think this is genuine?

In process of contacting Philips right now. Will report back.

  • I assume you are concerned about the via crsend.com?

When you first applied for the cashback did you receive any confirmation email? Does the reference number match this email?

    • Yes i did, unfortunately there was no information on tracking the claim or where to go for questions.

I am personally not familiar with crsend.com. Does that suggest something specifically?

      • I'm not familar with crsend, but if you reply to the email, does Philips Promotions <[email protected]> show up in the recipient?

Could be the website they used to track the competition entries.

Do a search for 922817 in your mailbox and see if number matches up with the email from when you first did cashback. It is a unique identifier to your specific cashback.

Same email as in the official link.

    Use the official link?

    • Sorry mate, i didn't quite understand what you mean.

Are you saying i should use the official link to contact Philips? If so yes i already have.

Considering the URL 'philipspromotions.com.au' redirects to philips and is also registered by an advertising group, I dont think 'scam' would be immediate thought

    https://www.crazydomains.com.au/whois/philipspromotions.com.…

    • it is very unsuual the email would use a different domain? thoughts? Combined with wanting bank account details being provided via unencrypted means i found very unusual.

Looks like CleverReach (crsend.com) is a bulk email service that Philips seems to be using. Nothing too suspicious about that.

      • it is very unsuual the email would use a different domain?

It's not unusual for companies to use a third party for cashback and promotions. If you read the terms and conditions, it often tells you which company is managing the whole thing

      • it is very unusual the email would use a different domain

It's very common. That way, there's no negative impact on your main domain name from anyone complaining about spam.

  • I emailed philips directly to chase up my cashback and they replied that there was an error with the form on their website and requested my bank account details.
Sent them the details and received the cashback today.

  • Thanks drup, just emailed Phillips with your reference number (you should redact that) and got your refund in my bank account. :)
