Anyone Know What Weed This Is?

Anyone know what weed this is? https://ibb.co/XznLFYF

I'm in Brisbane, and its covered a part of my lawn…

Looking for something to control it, cause my lawn mower won't even cut it.

Crawling over my lawn. Dense. Kinda like bean sprouts on the ground.

Thanks!

    How much for an ounce?

$300, inflation is out of control.

Well, $300 for an ounce is better than $300 for a gram!

I think there are a few weeds there but the main bunch seems to be a type of oxalis.

We have something similar. You can use a spray or just pull it up. If it is the same as what I have, the runners are fairly easy to pull up and are strong enough so they don't keep breaking. They converge to a central mass of roots. If the soil is soft, you can pull up the mass and dispose of it otherwise a small hand pick will help you uproot it. Filled up a whole wheelie bin. Once done, just pull up any new ones that you spot so not a big problem once controlled.

I don't know the type but also have quite a few in my garden this year thanks to the rain.

I use Hortico Weed and Green Hose On Lawn Herbicide a few times a year and it really help getting rid of weeds on my lawn. In my experience, Hortico brand seems to work much better than Yates.

Pretty sure it’s chickweed. Hand pull most of it, and then spray something like bindie/multiweed/bow n arrow. Kills the weed but not the grass.
Don’t bother with weed n feeds- the herbicide hurts the weeds and the feed helps the weed- so net it’s not very effective.

[showing Creed the picture of a pile of marijuana]
Creed : That is Northern Lights, Cannabis indica.
Dwight Schrute : [disappointed] No. It's marijuana.

That's Zerg Creep, you are done for!

  • The easiest and most effective way is going to be using a selective herbicide but be very careful with which one you choose. I can't see what type of grass you have but if it's buffalo you will need to choose something that is safe to use on it as the most common and cheapest "weed 'n' feeds" and herbicides will kill it. I suggest Bin-Die or something else with the same active ingredients (bromoxynil and MCPA). You will also need to be careful with your measurements when applying it as too much will also kill/damage the grass. To prevent weeds sprouting again in the future you could then apply a pre-emergent such as this which will stop seeds from germinating. This usually works well with grass as most types spread from the existing grass rather than sprouting from seed, obviously don't do it if you intend to reseed your lawn.

if it isn't smokable…it might be edible.

Not that, oxalis is tiny and won't go thick like this.

  • It's chickweed

Take the photo and head to Bunnings or plant nursery.

I had something similar and pulled it all out at the root, but the root is sometimes hard to find if it's buried under your lawn or intertwined.

I ended up getting 'weed and feed' but for Buffalo lawn (which mine is) which took care of the issue.
