Affordable (~$50) Backpack Recommendations?

Looking for a budget backpack for daily usage around the $50 mark. Need at least 40L in size (three compartments), preferably black or grey colour scheme.

I did buy one of these cheapo ones off of eBay, straps kept falling off and there was a large hole in the bottom after less than a year of usage.

Any recs? TIA!

  • It lasted a year? Honestly just buy that again.

  • There were a few cheap Dell backpack deals posted recently. Few different models too.
    Here are some of them.

Might be worth checking Dell AU and see if they are any deals.

Sorry I just read "under $50" and thought of the Dell backpacks, but according to your link you need something big.

Get a Kathmandu backpack in last seasons colour. You will find the clearance store at Birkenhead Point (and some Kathmandu stores).

I have a large backpack that I bought from them for $60 12 years ago. I used it as my daily for almost a decade and it's still going.

My Kathmandu is nearly that age, still looks new. It’s my motorcycle backpack too so it gets shoved against leather and hiked up at traffic lights regularly too.

        Are you me

I use mine as a motorbike bag too haha

  • Get Tigernu from Aliexpress

    • Do you have any personal experience with those bags? They look pretty good

        good
        AliExpress

        Pick one.
        I doubt it'll last long

  • May be better off buying something better quality that lasts a long time. I have a Deuter bag that I've had since 2006. I haven't used it every day that whole time but it has taken some beatings. A couple of the zips have seen better days, but they still work. Just need to be careful how I use them.

I have bought a backpack to replace it (Osprey) but I'm still using the Deuter bag as a rucking backpack. Like dchuch1 has said try to get one or something of similar quality that is in last season's style/colour.

  • You are not going to get anything good at that price, pay $50 and it lasts a year or pay $250 and it lasts 10-20 years.

Local vinnies/salvos. Under $20 you can get a backpack that is in very good condition.

    • Ebay and Gumtree sell brandname bags secondhand too. I've had two Crumpler backpacks bought around $50 delivered that were in basically new condition.

  • 45 Litre (according to comments) for $69 same day delivered (Prime).

  • Almost all stores (e.g. Kathmandu, Macpac, Paddy Palin, etc.) have a decent clearance page. Some bargains can definitely be found there.

  • This deal was just posted. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/719627

Not sure if they have anything your size.
