What about those people who came to say "who cares"..

        • +1

          I don't care about them
          .

      • +2

I don’t care but voted to sack him anyway.
Like any enterprise that is primarily concerned with making money, if you really care buy shares and vote.!!

    • Only state with a public holiday “Friday before the AFL Grand Final”.

    • I dont recall

when u try to go all in and lose and miss out on orefer coach, the current coach should have just quit. like a vote of no confidence.

getting sacked prolly better, the payout is better lol

Why is it called "football" when they mostly carry & catch the ball with their hands ? Shouldn't it be called "hand-and-foot ball" ?

    • +1

Ah, a fellow egg-ball post. Look up the history then for why.

    • because football is mostly foot against ball, for some reason we decided to call football "soccer" and the lite version of rugby "football".

    • Why is it called "football" when they mostly carry & catch the ball with their hands ?

What are your thoughts about American football then?

    Like, WHO CARES !!

      Ben Rutten?

    • -2

you obviously care enough, given that you took the time to write a comment. Do you post this on every single thread here that’s about stuff you don’t care about?

Gee, and I though anyone was welcome to post on OZB. Glad my posts annoy you!!

Def needed to go, Bombers a shambles and honestly deserve it atm.
Fans are paying the price for typical old boomer board members who think they know how to run a sporting club.

Hird deserves a second chance. Not too sure he would want to though?

      Hird deserves a second chance.

That's all they need, another few years of the media talking about Hird and the Drug scandal…

      • Exactly….😉

I am a Dees fan, happy to see Essendon in the pits for a few more years.

      • That's what I thought…

        • +1

Thanks for posting though, love the footy posts.

    • The club hung Hird out to dry and given his involvement at GWS I suspect he wants nothing to do with them.

The common thread in the downward spiral is Dodoro. He's had a key role in recruitment/list management since the late 90s. Given 1999, 2000 and 2001 minor premiership teams would have largely been the work of his predecessor he would have to be the most unsuccessful list manager in history.

How has Dodoro kept his position over the years?
        It blows my mind!

"Carlton Sacking Michael Voss - Was It The Right Call?"

i don’t think it was the right call at all - Essendon has a real Messiah Complex and often forget that it takes at least a couple of years to turn a team around, especially with a list as terrible as Essendon’s. They brought on Worsfold because they thought they needed an experienced coach and that didn’t work, so they took a gamble on a reasonably untested coach because they could mould Truck into the kind of coach they needed but then forgot to look after him.

I think it’s unfair to say “hey you made the finals and we weren’t expecting to come close, amazing work!” then 12 months later sack him for doing a rubbish job.

The issues at Essendon are far deeper than just poor coaching. Most of the board need to go. How Dodoro has managed to keep his job baffles me every day.

Kevin Sheedy was the last coach who lasted more than 4 seasons. That’s not a great look for the club. Why would you want to coach at a club that clearly won’t support you as a coach and will be quick to dump you the minute things are going wrong.

It’s a rare occurrence that a bottom of the ladder team gets a new coach and suddenly become a GF contender the next season.

So rather than the board admitting they’re doing a crap job, they sack the coach and now it’s gonna be at minimum another 2 years anyway that Essendon even get close enough for a sniff of playing finals.

If they get Hird back, I’m handing back my membership card

Completely agree with everything you've said.

Definitely not the right call, but the relationship could not have continued since they made a late attempt on Clarkson (unless they're a ozbargain member and thinking of the money the Rutten is on next year, haha)

I think they dug themselves in hole by saying they're looking an experienced coach. I mean who's out there? Hird - no way, Lyon - I think he is overrated and his defensive gameplan will not work these days, Buckley has ruled himself out. The last coach who won a premiership who is not coaching is Malthouse…

On a side note, how crazy was the Carlton/Collingwood game! I switched off with 7 mins to go thinking they cannot not possibly come back.
