  • Is this the best discount on IKEA gift card so far?

    • +1

There was one at ShopBack for one $100 IKEA gift card at 15% but that calculation also included the bonus cashback challenge

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/716220

    • Also curious, looking for the best IKEA discounts running anyone can suggest

    • +2

This equals to $50 IKEA GC = $10 Coles Dollars back.

  • I could've sworn JB Hi-Fi was included in the Ultimate Him gift cards.

    • but now there is no JB Hi-Fi in the Ultimate Him

      • +3

        Never was.

JB is included in the Home, Teens and Kids gift cards.

      • But JB Hi-Fi is in TCN Him, and it's have offers in Woolies for the same period.
But note that there's some sort of the TCN Him card appears as "DAD", but apparently it's still a TCN Him card.

        • +2

The TCN HIM and TCN DAD gift cards have the same list of participating retailers and they also use the same gift card prefix (5021 2510 298, if I remember correctly). However, they have different EAN-13 barcodes and have different product look-up (PLU) numbers, so Woolworths can absolutely tell whether you purchase a TCN DAD or TCN HIM gift card.

    • +7

I’m 100% certain JB Hi-Fi has never appeared on the Ultimate Him gift card.

You are probably confusing the Ultimate Him gift card with the TCN HIM gift card. The TCN HIM gift card features JB Hi-Fi as a participating retailer.

There’s actually a third gift card called “HIM” that is sold at Coles (BananaLab Him), but I’m just muddying the waters now, especially since that gift card is in a completely different market segment to the Ultimate Him and TCN HIM gift cards…

  • ikea looks good.
hope I can get 5 of them

    • Can we buy 5x50 GC at same time and get 5x2000 points?

      • I'd like to know this too or domyou need to go through the register 5 seperate times?

      • +1

        Yes.

You can also buy the 5 gift cards in separate transactions and you'll still get the bonus points.

Btw, don't forget this deal is for 2000 bonus Flybuys points per gift card. That means you'll still earn 1x standard Flybuys point $1 spent per gift card (because you earn standard Flybuys points on the purchase of third-party gift cards at Coles).

        • Can i buy 5 in one transactions? Or must separate?

          • +4

@tinx: It doesn't matter whether you purchase the 5 gift cards in the same transaction or separate transactions. There is no mention of a transaction limit in the deal’s fine print.

If you buy 5 of the gift cards in this deal in the same transaction, you'll get 5x2000 bonus Flybuys points.

If you instead buy 3 of the gift cards in one transaction and 2 of the gift cards in another transaction, you'll earn 3x 2000 bonus Flybuys points on the first transaction and 2x2000 bonus Flybuys points in the second transaction.

@WookieMonster: Hi Wookie, need your expert opinion. So last week for the officeworks gift card, I tried purchasing using self-check out and both Coles e-gift card and Colesmyer physical card declined with the error ‘invalid product mix’. Both those methods worked the previous week when paying for the Coles Prepaid MasterCard. Do you think they have updated the check out, or is it just because Officeworks is a Coles group gift card? I’m wondering if I will be able to pay for these IKEA and TCN cards with my Colesmyer cards at the self check out this time.

              • +1

@magster: I’m not surprised to hear you got an Invalid Product Mix error, because it fits in with my previous experience.

You get that error message at Coles if:

                • You try to purchase any other gift card issued by Coles Group (e.g. Coles gift card, Coles Group & Myer gift card, Liquorland gift card) at Coles and attempt to redeem a gift card issued by Coles Group (e.g. Coles gift card, Coles Group & Myer gift card).

                • You try to purchase any gift cards at Coles and attempt to redeem a Coles Groceries gift card.

The Invalid Product Mix error will crop up at both self checkouts and standard checkouts, so staff will have no way of getting around it for you (no matter how much they try).

I think you should be okay purchasing any of the gift cards in this deal with your Coles or Coles Group & Myer gift cards.

                • +1

@WookieMonster: Thank you! I’m guessing Officeworks is a Coles group gift card. I was worried they updated the check out, until I thought about this.

                  • +1

@magster: For future reference, it says on the back of the blue cardboard sleeve that the Officeworks gift card is issued by Coles Group. It should also say this on the back of the Officeworks gift card itself.

  • Buy the Him card, and you can use it to buy charcoal from this deal
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/719910

  • Doing the curtains of my new house. Need about 40 of the ikea ones.

How can I go about this? Any way to get around thr 5 card limit?

    • +1

Open 7 more Flybuys accounts or find 7 friends with Flybuys.

    • Same boat am going to spend a few thousand on ikea

    • Open 7 accounts

    • Major obstacle here is finding $50 denomination IKEA GC in Coles, I checked one store, only $100 IKEA GC there.

      • +1

I just went to a Coles and spotted both $50 and $100 denominations of the IKEA gift card.

  • great

  • +1

were ikea cards previously sold at coles? never seen them there at the stores i frequent.

buying the last mastercard offer ($100 gc) seemed to have bumped up my flybuys offer minimum spends

    • IKEA gift cards extremely rare (at least at the stores that I usually visit in Sydney).

That's why I'm surprised at the people saying that they'll buy 50 of them. I don't know if they're more common in Coles stores in other states & NSW is an exception or something.

  • -1

are ppl just lying to qualify for Hiver?

    • I am a student so I qualify, but they never verified any details from me. And the qualifying requirements are actually quite broad as it covers anyone with a tertiary qualification I think, as well as health care and teachers

  • Nice. Effectively a 20% discount off the $50 IKEA Gift Card. Will likely purchase this (if I can find one, which according to others sounds like it will be a challenge).

    • I think it will be a challenge to find IKEA gift cards during this deal. The Coles I just went to had 12 IKEA gift cards (a mixture of $50 and $100 denominations). Hopefully there is more in the gift card storage area… or more incoming from the gift card distributor.

      • Hey Wookie, would $100 x 1 IKEA GC give 4000 points? The promotion only states for $50 GC.

        • +1

No, because the promo is for 2000 bonus points on $50 or more

It’ll be a flat 2000 regardless of what the gift card denominations are. Best value ofc would be the $50 variants if you can find any :)

  • Darn was hoping for ubereats this week to use for the current promo I got

  • Do you know if there is a limit to how many gc Ikea will accept for online purchases?

  • +1

Is there a gift card redemption limit for 99 bikes or way to consolidate Him card? (Looking at the commuter bike on sale)

    • +1

      I contacted live chat:
There is no maximin number, you can just keep adding them one after the other in the gift card section…

      • I tried this but it doesnt work on gift card section. Can you pls explain if you were able to do it?

        • This is what I was told via 99bikes live chat:
"If you have multiple gift cards, then unfortunately this can't be processed on our website.
You would need to make the purchase in store, as they have the ability to process multiple payments (including multiple gift cards) on the same order."

  • Can ikea gift card be used on ikea food court
    Children love the horse balls

    • Yes! Enjoy the family deal while it lasts

  • I checked Coles today and could only find these cards https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/17833/97794/20220823_1… They seem to be missing a lot of the retailers. Are these the right "For Him" cards? Thanks.

    • +1

That is the older EFTPOS version of the Ultimate Him gift card, so it should be eligible for this deal. There is nothing in the terms of the deal to specifically state that the older EFTPOS version is not eligible.

      Just keep in mind:

      • The EFTPOS version operates on the EFTPOS network, so you must select Savings (not Credit) on the EFTPOS terminal when redeeming it at a participating retailer. This also means the EFTPOS version can only be redeemed in-store at a participating retailer.

      • There is no gift card exchange facility available for the EFTPOS version, and you cannot ask for a digital version of the EFTPOS gift card to store on your preferred mobile wallet.

      • The EFTPOS version has a smaller set of participating retailers. (I would trust the Ultimate gift cards website for the participating retailers of the EFTPOS version, as participating retailers are added and removed from time to time.)

  • Just checked 4 of my local Coles, none of them stock $50 IKEA, will pass this deal.

  • Anyone spotted any $50 IKEA GC in Melbourne eastern suburbs?

    • @Yola might be able to help later.

I just quickly checked Coles Caulfield, and they only had a few $100 IKEA GCs.
I guess they didn't bother to get ready for this promotion.

  • I found $50 IKEA but they came up with an error when scanned. May have been old expired stock. I ended up just buying $100 ones.

    • Same with me.. the Coles staff said they never seen the IKEA ones before

    • Yes, same for me! The $50 one ikea. The manufacture date is 02/20, probably it’s too old stock?

  • Has anyone found stock of the $50 IKEA GCs in VIC?

    • Couldn't find 50 bought $ 100 instead.

    • I wanted to buy some at Victoria Gardens but there were some issues with $50 ikea cards. They won't scan and can't be sold. Didn't bother to try the $100 ones as I am just after some cheap stuffs.

  • Bought the 5x$100 ikea cards, seems like i got the common activation issue. Checking balance online results with "invalid card".

Anyone else have the same issue?

Hindsight i should have checked other threads of how notoriously bad ikea gift cards are

Waiting 36 hours for activation when the checkout screen showed activated/successful/approved is sus.

    • same

      • Mine got 'activated' after a day

First ever giftcard ive had this situation with, other gift cards are instant.

        • +2

IKEA gift cards are known for taking a while to be activated once you purchase them (up to 48 hours in some cases). Approval and activation are two separate processes; it’s just that most other gift cards are activated as soon as (or not long after) they are approved at a checkout.

Westfield EFTPOS gift cards are worse, because if you purchase it from a third-party retailer (e.g. Coles, Woolworths, BIG W), they are not activated until the next business day. That means that if you purchase one on a Friday night, it will not be available for spend until the following Monday morning (assuming Monday is not a public holiday).

  • +2

Needed items from SuperCheap, so grabbed 2 x $50. Thank you for the heads-up OP.

  • how long does it take for flybuy points to show up, i bought the him card points not showing up getting worried

    • +2

I swear this gets asked every single time this type of promo is run.

The following evening after your qualifying purchase.

      • hehe thank you

        • +2

To be extra clear, you should have the standard and bonus Flybuys points loaded onto your account by 5pm Sydney/Melbourne time on the day after your transaction.

However, there are some cases where the points do not show for another couple of days, so do not panic if they are still missing after the 5pm timeframe.

If the points are still missing after waiting a few days, double-check whether your Flybuys card number appears on the receipt.

          • If it does, contact Flybuys to get them to see why the points have not been credited.

          • If it does not, go back to the service desk of the store you purchased the gift cards from with your receipt and Flybuys card and get them to add the Flybuys card to the transaction.

          • +2

            @WookieMonster:

If it does not, go back to the service desk of the store you purchased the gift cards from with your receipt and Flybuys card and get them to add the Flybuys card to the transaction.

This has to be done within seven days of the purchase

          • +1

            @WookieMonster: thank you

  • I bought a $50 Ultimate gift for Him GC today….and exchanged it for a $ 50.00 Streamotion Multi 50AUD eGift ….when I try to add the 30 digit code to my existing Kayo account, it says offer isn't available to you or may have expired. There is still $10 left in my account from my previous Kayo eGC. Please advise what the issue might be….thanks

    • I'm getting the same issue for Binge with the Streamotion card :( I'm hoping it just means the activation is a bit delayed. Going to try again tomorrow.

    • Was this ever resolved?

      • I bought the card 27/8, still wasn't working 30/8. I talked to binge chat support who said they are having a website issue with gift cards currently and that it needed to be done manually from their end.

After sending through the gift card number on 30/8 via the chat, the $50 is finally on my account as of today (3/9).

Was a bit worried it was a scam, but everything was through the website/email [email protected] and it went through in the end :)

Not sure if I will bother with this one again, it was quite a hassle.

    • The Kayo website is unable to accept any gift cards atm…you need to email them the 30 digit code and they will manually add it to your account.

  • Further to my post above….is there a delay for the swapped Kayo card to be active,?

  • The picture shows $100 denomination IKEA giftcard not $50. Where do ppl get the idea of getting 2000 flybuys points from $50 IKEA giftcard purchase?

    • +1

      Three things:

      • The deal is for $50 and above denominations of the pictured gift cards.

      • Some Coles stores stock the $50 denomination.

      • There is nothing in the fine print to say that the $50 denomination of the IKEA gift card is specifically excluded from this deal. Coles is almost always quite thorough with identifying any denominations (or gift card types) excluded from a gift card deal.

However, judging by my personal experience and other people's experiences, Coles no longer sells the $50 denomination, but it hasn't been removed from all their stores (until this deal came along).
