Jetstar - Starter Fare Cancellation Options

Hi all,

We have upcoming trip for family booked through Jetstar and due to sudden changes we will not be able to make it. From what I read on Jetstar, given there are starter fare there is nothing much we can do. Are there any other options do we have with them, we are okay to settle refund as credit for future trips….

I did used the ANZ platinum card to book this trip but not sure if anything should be covered under there.

any tips/advise would be welcome.

I think you've answered your own question here! Unless the cancellation is caused by something on their end, any other changes will at least require a fee of some sort.

Better off rescheduling otherwise you're SOOL

    • if I reschedule than it will be change of fees I guess…unfortunately seems no way out as plan are change on our end…

  • If they rescuedule your flight for more than 3 hours (happens a lot) you can get vouchers

  • I heard that airlines are more lenient if you have been infected by COVID and are unable to travel.

    • I did read somewhere that telling them one is + for covid may do the trick but that seems more hassle to come up with dodgy RAT's etc…

      • I've heard from a colleague who's daughter faked a rat test to skip school that orange juice makes a rat go positive…

"used the ANZ platinum card to book this trip"

You might be able to claim under "Cancellations" from your ANZ travel insurance. From quick reading of the T&C, you are covered the moment you purchased the tickets (assuming you meet the other basic requirements). I suggest giving them a call.

Otherwise, see if you can re-schedule to a date in the future.

    • that. I will try that.

  • No hope OP. I once lost a couple of grand worth of Jetsar starter fares due to a change of plans. I still get annoyed about it years later.

yap. sorry to hear abt your exp. I may be on similar boat for $250

  • If the card has insurance or you booked insurance and this other event falls in the terms maybe ?

Jetstar won't give the money back for change of mind.

Sometimes you can claim taxes back, on missed flights which can be significant.

  • Hi all update, Jetstar has moved our flights to less than 3 hrs. They advised they can provide us refund if we can demonstrate due to the change "the purpose of the trip is voided"…it was simple holiday trip….can anybody give us suggestion what sort of advise we can give them which could work
