  • Oh my buddha… I just bought the Garmin nuvi30 from DickSmith last week for $78 dammit, refund possible? haha

    • Its not that hard, just say its too small and blurry and theyre usually happy to take it back

  • +1

Ha, this is cheaper than the new map for my old tomtom

    • I was thinking the same thing. It's a shame the updates are not transferrable between devices

  • Wow pretty good. Your either buying this, or spending another 200 +70pa to get live traffic/speed camera info.

  • Thanks OP. Could you please mention 12 free map updates offer by tom tom? That will save a lot of money for the people in the long run. Thanks

    • Is that 12 free map updates or 12 months free or something else?

      Looking at the tomtom website it appears you're only entitle to 1 update within 90 days;
      Latest map guarantee
Start driving with the latest map - guaranteed! If a new map for your device is available within 90 days of first use, you can download that map once for free via tomtom.com
      http://www.tomtom.com/en_au/products/car-navigation/via-220-…

      • On the front page it says 12 Maps, over 5 years guaranteed.

        • Thanks didn't go to the front page.
Small writing but looks like 3 years not 5 to me.
Also even smaller print is the old *conditions apply. If they are reasonable then this is an awesome deal.

        • I guess the conditions will be much like these - all good
          http://www.tomtom.com/en_au/promotions/xmas/

        • Actually it says over 3 years. And it also says "12 BONUS MAPS of Australia when you purchase an eligible TomTom GPS from 13 October 2011 to 31 January 2012." So, that has expired already. I wonder why it's still on the front page though.

        • Yeah I misread

        • The offer is current,

          http://www.tomtombonusoffers.com.au/conditions.aspx

Claims must be received by 14/10/2012

  • How about this one guys: Garmin Nuvi 50 $109 plus postage

  • thanks mate, will be getting this from DS :)

  • $119 at Good Guys with a TomTom case and a TomTom high-speed dual USB charger.
    http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/mt_gravatt/Tom_Tom_VIA_220_GPS…

    • I guess it depends on if you're willing to pay an extra $26 for those items.

      • Yeah true!!

  • tempted to buy one even though google navigation on my phone work just fine

    • +2

I am tempted too although Google navigation works fine on my Galaxy Nexus, and on my Galaxy Tab, and Nokia Maps on my N9, and I've got an in-dash GPS in one car and little Chinese unit in the other… So do I really need this? No, definitely not. Do I want to buy it because it is a bargain? Yes! Damn you OzBargain!

  • What is the difference between the 220, 160 and 180? Is it worth going this over the other models?

    • Basically the differences are in the SD card slot, Bluetooth and screen size

      • are they all 4.3 inch screen?

        • No the 160 and 180 are 16

  • hey, How updated/good are the points of interest on this ?

I am coming from the TomTom app for iPhone which has the google search feature.

  • Hey does anyone know what languages this has?

  • Seems the Dicksmith deal ends on the 11th. Not sure about the other companies deals.

  • The VIA 160, the next model up, is available at Good Guys for $128.
It has bluetooth and voice command. I guess you have to decide if its worth the extra $35
