Roborock S7+ Mop Solution

Hi All,

Just got my first robot vacuum - Roborock S7+
I have a floating floor board area and before using this robot, I have been using a mix of water & methylated spirit (10-25%).
I've been thinking to use the same, but wanted to hear what majorities of people are using here.

On Reddit / people in US are using OMO Multi-surface Floor Cleaning Solution; and seems that brand not really common here (well, someone in VIC sells it - but at a cost) as yet and targeted for hard floor/ceramic instead.

I wonder what people in AUS are currently using.

Thanks

  • Suggested Aldi Floor Cleaner

I use Aldi floor cleaner diluted on my hardwood floorboards.

Seems to do the job fine.

How long have you been using it for?
Just wanted to make sure you have been using it long enough without any clog to the robot

      • I’ve been using it for almost 12 months with no problems.

I also use the same solution in my bissell for almost 4 years with no problems.

I just use tap water. It's because we have natural timber with varnish on top. The intensive mopping vibrations with solvents (eg Methanol) would dissolve the varnish.
Also, I just don't want to risk putting anything that could corrode something and create a leak given roborock + docking are sooo expensive.
We don't wear shoes inside the house, and it seems to feel clean enough for us.

    Suggested Water

Why not just water for the robot and stick to your water & methylated spirit mix when you mop.

so that I understand, you suggested I use both the robot and the normal mop in combination of it?

Correct…. These machines are not full replacements for cleaning. You'll still have to vac and mop yourself every now and then, but clearly way less. There are areas they just don't get to.

Just white vinegar/water mix should be enough.

      • Oh sorry I was just more talking as a general cleaner that is all you should need, though it’s much less harsh than the OMO solution you said people in us use, so based on that it shouldn’t clog anything.

I use a small amount of iRobot robot cleaner solution, available from bing Lee and Amazon.

Only about a month. Someone in another forum had mentioned they’d been using the solution for a couple of years.

Also Interested to know if there is a safe additive. Some people recommend spraying the floor with a floor cleaner before the robot mops, but im not sure this is a good idea as the robot will suck up moisture / water as it passes over the spray.

  • Pinoclean diluted with water, then I add a few drops of Elderwood oil for scent.
