    Haiii ya

  • It’s a great rice cooker

  • There are newer generations of rice cookers.

    Nevertheless, good price.

  • apologies for hijacking, anyone know how to get a replacement inner pot for Panasonic rice cooker (SR-ZE185WST)? Genuine will be a bonus. Thanks.

    • Same here, I got the 10 cup one and saw some ebay seller selling replacement pot but not sure if it fits or not.

I have an elderly relative who is looking for a rice cooker that doesn't require specific measuring of water etc - anyone familiar with anything like this?
Bit of a weird request I know

    • It’s got graduated measurements in the inner cup for 4 different kinds of rice:
      White
      Jasmine
      Brown
      Something else

I know there’s the finger method but this Is easy too..
      Does that help?

      • Thanks but really looking for a "set and forget" type of thing where you pre-load with say, a kilo of rice and a litre of water, then when you want rice you can press a button and it goes

Probably doesn't exist now I'm thinking about it!

    • Use the rice measuring cup to add the water. Double the amount of rice usually does the trick.

      • yeah their sight is going so measuring using the right cup, up to the right line, making sure it wasn't spilled etc are all hard for them
I was imagining certain types of bread makers where you throw everything in larger containers and the machine portions it out.

        Thanks for the tip though!

      • double the amount of rice or the water is double the amount of rice?

        • Water is double the amount of rice

    • Sadly there doesn't appear to be, not unless silicon Valley have a rice maker with a subscription service and barcoded rice packs ect.

  • Goes to a computer store to get a PC, at the cashier, would you like a rice cooker with that?

    • I’d be willing to bet they sell it so they can mark down their lunch room copy as a line item

      • similar to JB Hifi branching to home appliances. Recently HT also branching to Home category

  • Had this for 10 years, though now doesn't seem to control temp as it used to.

Any good suggesting for something within a similar price range? Up to $250 etc.

    • Why not buy again? You know is good for at least 9.5 years

He wants an upgrade for next 10 years not same device for 20 years.

        • It's a rice cooker, I'm not sure they have a ton of upgrade paths here.

        • Correcto. Im just not sure if the tiger ones are worth the extra cash.

      • I may, but i also want to know how much better my rice game could be with a more expensive or alternative option.

  • Got one, though had to pay $5 shipping

How can a 1.8L rice cooker claim to be able to cook 10 cups? Its max volume would be ~3 cups of white rice and ~2 cups of brown. False advertising.

    • Depends on the size of the cup. These rice cookers come with a measuring cup.

      • Clearly this one comes with a measuring cup for ants. It needs to be at least three times bigger!

        • +1

Have you seen the cup or just assuming things?

          • @RSmith: If it can genuinely do 10 "cups" of white rice, then the "cup" is 90ml (1800/2/10). A human size cup is 250ml. Thus, this "cup" is approximately ant-size (three times smaller).

            • @iseeyou1312: Cup for drinking is measured differently from the cup for cooking rice.

Now please don't make it obvious that you don't have much idea about rice and revoke your uninformed negative vote.

How big is a cup of rice?
A single rice cup equals about ¾ US cup which is the same as 180ml. A single serving of rice weighs about 90g, in uncooked form, which equals ½ cup. After cooking, when the rice doubles in size, It becomes 1 cup. Some people use ⅓ cup uncooked rice for a single person serving.

      • So this cooker is claiming ⅓ of a cup to be a cup, and can cook 3⅓ cups of uncooked white rice at a time. Clearly not what most people think of when hearing a cup, either for rice or otherwise, thus the volume of the cooker should have been included in the OP.

  • Aldi rice cooker for $59 bucks is fantastic. Cooks perfect rice every time, flawless.
Looks pretty much the same as this Panasonic rice cooker.

  • If anyone has this model can you weigh the metal pot. I know this sounds od but the weight tells the quality of it. I have the aldi 10 cup version so curious of the difference.
