Narrative-driven medieval adventure game Pentiment will be released for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles, and Windows 10/11 PC, on November 15th 2022; Game Pass pre-installs and Microsoft Store pre-orders (A$29.95) are also ready now.

Pentiment Releasing on November 15

Obsidian Entertainment and the team behind Pentiment are very happy to announce the game will be launching on November 15 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10/11 PC, Steam, and with Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. Pre-orders for the game are open today as well as pre-installs being available with Game Pass.

Explore history in the modern time through the style of illuminated manuscripts and early modern woodcuts. Pentiment is a narrative-adventure game set in 16th century upper Bavaria in the time of the Holy Roman Empire. You will take on the role of Andreas Maler, a very clever journeyman artist who gets caught up in a series of murders and scandals that spans 25 years in the fictional town of Tassing and Kiersau Abbey.

It will be up to you to decide Andreas’ choices, from his educational background and lifestyle to how he investigates the murders that happen around him. From sneaking into the abbey library late at night to look at secret documents, to playing a round of a tavern’s favorite card game to get information from those who are playing, it’s up to you to choose how to use the precious time you’re given to investigate the suspects. Every decision and accusation Andreas makes carries consequences that will impact the tightly-knit Alpine community for generations to come.

  Why would you pre-order the game when you can simply sub to game pass for a month, beat it, and get a whole bunch of other games besides?

    That's what I'd recommend for most people, definitely.

    For me personally, this is basically a Cadfael/The Name of the Rose adventure game and I'm so horny for that I've preordered it on Steam to have a permanent copy.

  I have no problem with additions to subscription services being posted to ozbargain, and I understand that those can be toggled off at a profile level. But there still needs to be some aspect of the addition that makes it a "bargain". For example a game that previously cost a large sum suddenly being available more cheaply as part of a service. A new product being launched at it's standard price and coming to a subscription service it was already confirmed for since they day it was revealed is not a bargain by any metric.

  That said, hyped for this game.

  I am soooo on the fence about this game.

  I love the team. The concept, the and bits of story, adore.

  But I feel like I keep sliding off the art? I don't know why, but I wish it was more, like, Monty Python, or something? I can't put my finger on it.

  But, yeah. I'll play it on GP anyway.

  Someone described a autopsy scene as reminiscent of LA Noir, and I enjoyed that.
