When Do Amazon Subscribe & Save Prices Get Locked-in ?

The prices for items in an Amazon Subscribe & Save subscription change from time to time, but at what point do they get locked-in ?

For example, today I got an email from Amazon asking me to review my upcoming delivery of Diet Coke 1.25ml bottles.

The email gives an estimated total of $19.12 & says that I have until Sunday Aug 28 to manage this delivery.

Is the $19.12 price now locked-in & I will be charged this amount, even if Amazon's buy-it-now price for the item increases to $30 before Sunday ?

Or, does the price depend on the current price on the day when the order is dispatched ? Meaning, I'll be charged $30 (less 10% subscribe & save discount) if Amazon's buy-it-now price increases to $30 on Saturday or Sunday ?

  • for something like diet coke I would expect the price to pretty much mirror whoever is cheaper out of colesworths at the time so i guess its relatively safe bet to just let it run if you are definitely smashing that much cola.

but yes its at time of shipping.

if you feel like you got overcharged just use free return function and re-order later.

i dont know of anyone (other than maybe you) that isnt just using s & s for the initial subscription discount and cancelling later.

    • I now get my sh*tickets bi monthly via S&S

      • i pretty much just buy a pack with s+s discount whenever i smell pennies does a TP amazon post and it gets 100 + upvotes in under an hour LOL

    • Not at time of shipping, time of order.

For example my 1 September group of products was ordered on the 14th august, but then I have until 21 august to cancel or modify, then it’s shipped in another week. The price is locked from the 14th if you don’t make changes, by the modify deadline if you do.

    They don't?

  • You pay whatever the going price is when your subscription comes up to be delivered, you do NOT get a locked in price.

    • Yes, I understand that they can go up & down, from one month to the next, if I have a monthly delivery.

But, my question was whether it can still change for the next delivery, even after they send out the email telling you the price for the next delivery & asking you to review it ?

The Amazon email itself is vague & only gives an "estimated total" and also says that "prices go up or down over time, but you'll always get your applicable Subscribe & Save discounts on top of the current price". It doesn't say if the current price is the price now, meaning at the time they sent the email, or the current price when they actually send out the item ?

They do not specify because they think its so obvious that it doesn't need to be specified, the price when they send out the item.

Wrong. The price is locked in when the order is created, not when it is sent out for delivery. It's the same with your manual order.

They get locked in some days before dispatched on the auto order (2nd+ orders), I haven't looked closely about when, but they certainly can go up and down.

  • If you cancel a S&S does amazon go back and charge you the non S&S price for items all ready delivered?

      No

It gets locked in when the actual order is created. If you’ve already been sent the email to review upcoming deliveries, it’s locked in. Go to the your orders page and you’ll see the date the order was created and the price.

    • This is the correct answer.
