[XSX] Forza Horizon 5 $39 Instore @ Target

640

Just spotted in store at Target Chatswood. Considering Forza games will become delisted eventually I always make a point to buy the disc rather than just use Game Pass for the series.

There is no online listing I could find so might be worth checking your local stores.

Also includes Xbox One version

Thank-you OP šŸ™‡ā€ā™‚ļø I'll check my local on Monday.

Forza games will become delisted eventually I always make a point to buy the disc rather than just use Game Pass

Agree. Though I'd like to buy them straight up so that I can leisurely plug away at them, especially if my playthrough is completionist and runs >100hr.

Do you think new prices get any cheaper than $39?

How cheap would second-hand prices go?

    • +1

I believe they gave away the last one they delisted digitally for free (unsure which series) if you had purchased any or some DLC….

I doubt Forza games are ever going to be really expensive given the volume of sales.

    • +4

While EB/Gamesmen have never and will never be considered indicative of a reasonable pre-owned market, each of them are selling FH5 for $79 pre-owned on their websites. Even happier I picked it up brand new for half that!

To compare to an already delisted from sale game, Forza Horizon 3 is still $34 pre-owned at EB

      • Does anyone actually buy pre-owned from EB?

  • +2

Damn, still waiting for a good deal on Horizon 5 for PC. It's the only game I play, and keeping on purchasing gamepass is a bit of a pain.

  • +3

Yes they delist these eventually, but they will likely put out a complete edition with DLC etc towards the end that will cost less than this. I bought FH3 (for the 3rd time) near the end to get all the car packs and the DLC I didn't have for less than $39 (pretty sure it was less than $20)

Spend the $40 and grab gamepass for a year.

Played this soulless game for maybe 60 hours and uninstalled to make room for the superior Horizon 4.

    • +2

What's the playtime threshold for a game with a soul?

    • +1

Lmao I'm curious to know from the people who negged me what makes 5 better than 4

      • 5's map is basically all desert and a small bit of forest and swamp
      • 4 had seasons which actually changed the map and made a difference in how you drove - 4 is the same all year round and only has weather effects
      • 5 basically has non existent AI cars in free roam. You could drive half the map and not see a single car
      • Graphics are basically the exact same between the two - nothing majorly different between the two
      • I've got Forza 5 and was disappointed to learn that we couldn't play split screen. Curious if Forza 4 allows split screen?

        • Looks like only Motorsport has that functionality unfortunately.

      • "5 basically has non existent AI cars in free roam. You could drive half the map and not see a single car"

i too had this, but after some googling i found that if you put the game into offline/single player mode, and the regular traffic would spawn

        • +1

Well by that logic you have two options

          • Play online and see other drivers only hanging around the horizon festival areas or fanging it offroad towards waypoints OR
          • Play offline and see normal AI cars along roads

Horizon 4 had BOTH - a lot of traffic along roads AND you'd see other drivers online also navigating them

          • +2

@SnowDragon: yup, ive played all the horizons but i played 4 the least, i wasnt a fan of the narrow euro roads, the one based in australia was great, so much open free roam :)

      • Kinda agree. I reckon I only spent 3 or so hours playing FH5 before getting bored…

      • I don't think they were negging you because they disagreed with you on FH4 > FH5

    • +1

I didnā€™t neg you, but I found it intriguing that you put 60+ hours into a ā€˜soullessā€™ game. Iā€™ve personally enjoyed 5 more than 4, though I like both. 2 is still my favourite.

  • +1

    Great game

  • Any options for getting this price on xbox series s? Not really looking for a game pass sub as I barely get a few hours a week to put into gaming.

    • +2

Gamepass can be had for 3 years very cheap

      • Using the eneba deal I stacked 3yrs for somewhere around $70-$75

    • But the whole point of XBSS is game pass.
I find the Series S such an interesting machine in the context of the console market. While the CPU is far superior compared to the One X, the GPU is inferior. I think itā€™s a niche product suited just gaming on a 1080p monitor with game pass. Now that GPU prices are rational though, for $500 AUD you could build a banger PC with an RX 6600XT for $350 that would beat the snot out of the Series S. and then you get much cheaper games, epic and prime giveaways, etc.

      • +1

Yea, if I were buying, I would've gotten the Series X with the disc, but this was a gift

      • +6

So you have a $500 budget. You get a good deal on a RX 6500XT which is roughly in-line with the performance of a Series S. How are you going to build the rest of the PC for $250?

  • +3

FYI all - the game isnā€™t actually on the disc - its just a small digital licence file

    • +1

      well that's normal

you always had to download gigs and gigs of content before you get started

    • +1

Like halo infinite - no game on disc

    • thanks… do you know if it will it be possible to activate this online and play on my discless xbox series s?

      • +3

That original comment isn't literal, what they meant is that you'd need the disc in there and it just downloads the whole thing anyway (at least it would on Series X), keeping the disc in the drive to prove you've paid for it. There's no way to use this with a Series S.

        • +3

Itā€™s literal, there is no game on disc. If u offline = no play

      • +1

Unfortunately not - there is no code, you still need the disc inserted to act as the licence file for a full game download.

Iā€™m hoping they do a GOTY version at some point with all the content actually on disc.

        • Pretty sure the last GOTY version was for Forza 2?

        • Their new patent will allow the player to authenticate any Xbox physical disc through an external disc drive, and then the player will be able to access that game digitally from the Xbox Series S store.

Seems like a lot of work compared to just selling the console with a disc drive already in it.

USB blu ray drive isn't really that cheap. Cheapest on Amazon is around $101 with the average being between $120-150.

Add markup for "gaming" and you might be paying close to $200 for this xbox external disc drive. I've seen people selling the Series S second hand for $300

          • @Agret: Authenticate on your pc or xb1. Like buying a phone without a charging brick.

            • @bargainatoraah: It would be authenticated on the console itself, same as normal Xbox Series X except it doesn't let you install/play from the disc due to using a regular USB blu ray drive not supporting the XBOX DRM key stuff that the drive in the console normally has. You would need disc in to play as that is your license code so to speak but the game would be delivered as a download rather than anything copied off the disc.

  • +2

Considering Forza games will become delisted eventually I always make a point to buy the disc rather than just use Game Pass for the series.

Just pay attention to gaming news and you will see when the game is going to be delisted. It's usually 70% off digital and then there is a very cheap complete DLC bundle for cheap to go alongside it.

  • It will only be delisted when thereā€™s a better version available. Just stick to gamepass and donā€™t waste your cash.

    • +1

Horizon 3 is still the best Horizon game so no.

      • Thanks :)

    • +1

They get delisted after 4 years due to licensing agreements expiring.

  • Literally Vocho: The Game. It's good though

  • +1

I remember getting Horizon 3 for about $3 digitally when it was about to be delisted. If you have purchased digitally you can still redownload even after games or DLC get delisted off the store to buy new

  • This deal is still running - I picked up the last one of Forza Horizon 5 at Brookside Target here in Brisbane. Still $39. Have yet to play though as it is downloading 100Gb of updates!!

If you can find it this deal is still running.
