BeyerDynamic DT 770 Pro - Hunting for Budget Audiophile Headphones for PC

I am looking for headphones for my PC that are closed back and are sub $170.

I have seen a couple sales for the DT 770 Pro but I can't find any on right now. I was hoping someone could either suggest alternatives or give a rough idea of when they may go on sale again?

AKG Pro ‎K371 is probably your best bet in your price range

  • i've got a pair of dt 770 80 ohm, i also have a pair of MH752's (gaming headset). quite honestly, there is not much noticeable difference between them. i'm sure if you sat there looking for differences, you'd find a few, but i find the MH752's much more comfortable (lighter, less clamping force) and i am of the opinion that most people would not notice any difference.

the problem with "audiophile" headphones is that they often require a DAC/AMP setup to properly drive them, the reason I got the dt 770 80 ohm is because people online claimed that you do not need such a setup. they were wrong. when i plugged them in, i could barely hear anything, even at 100 % volume. i had to buy a DAC/AMP to be able to use them. even the cheapest DAC/AMPs are not exactly cheap.

another thing to consider is the source of the music, if you are using spotify, most streaming services or MP3s, you do not need audiophile headphones

i recommend MH752s. the mic is detachable.

    • Thank you for the suggestion, having a mic is also super helpful! Any difference between the MH752's and the MH751's though?

I'm not entirely sure, I remember at the time I purchased them there was some reason I went for the mh752 instead of mh751, but I can't remember what that reason was.

What I can tell you, is that the mh752s have a 7.1 button that gives surround sound. Great for movies. I saw some people online saying it's not good, but I didn't care as I wasn't buying the headphones for that option, but I tried it and have left it on ever since. I think the mh751 may not have this button, but not entirely sure.

  • Tao tronics wireless, good..and cheap
