the app barely runs on my phone. Not sure if they're improved it as it take up alot of memory to run.

My wife has the same issue, however she's using a Samsung s8+ lol. I've got an S20+ and noticed it's just starting the slow up on my phone too.

It hasn't. Still a pain to run on either of my phones. Slow as hell and often stops responding on my Mi A2 Lite (which is a slower, budget phone). Seems to run fine on my Pixel 5, but can't place orders online because it keeps telling me to turn on location settings, even though it's already on.

Runs fine on OP9 / Android 12. Ordering online is no drama. Only issue is if I click "find a restaurant" sometimes it won't show any restaurants (this is fixed by retrying, or picking nearest online enabled restaurant).

Oh and shake n win is bugged, requires me to exit and go back in again to do my daily shakes.

      iOS is fine

    Is their coffee any good?

    • +3

It varies by store but often no, not really. With sugar/sweetener and choc powder it reaches about 7/11 level. Probably wouldn't pay $2 for it but if it's free it's drinkable I guess.

On the other hand, the wrap is great.

I've been really disappointed in 7/11 coffee since roughly the last 3 or 4 weeks.I normally get a flat white. Really disappointing. Last time I got a large I added a tsp of instant coffee to make it drinkable.

Lately I've been doing 2 x small shots and filling with warm milk. That's actually quite good.

Yeah I forgot the cult like following 7/11 has. It wasn't supposed to be a compliment haha.
HJ coffees can also get made suspiciously fast which makes me wonder if they just have coffee pre-made and just add the milk.

@pennypincher98: That must vary from store to store then, because at least at my local I can see them working the machine with the ground coffee and the coffee tamper

@OzBarAnon: Out of interest, do you know if your local was a Jack's Cafe (before the national labelling)? I find they produce far better coffee. Those stores I can confirm actually make the coffee.

@pennypincher98: Maybe. It's been a while, but I think they might have actually changed. I recall trying their coffee once years ago (2018 I think), and it was just a straight machine one like at a petrol station, but at some point they upgraded to the current setup. I didn't return after that ($3.50 for that tier coffee is a scam) until 2021 so I can't tell you when the change happened.

        • I believe a large has extra water added, so it naturally won't be as strong.
I had a large once due to a promo and it was not nearly as nice compared to the regular size.

Incredibly inconsistent, especially if you get flavour in it. Overall it's not close to maccas IMO.

Their app is atrocious, their coffee at my local store is passable, and their drive through service is diabolically slow, but this isn't a bad deal.

Not as good as the small wrap or jacks breaky roll meal deal for $5 a few weeks ago, but still decent value.

    Recommending the competition.

Thought I would just add that on the shake n win the other day I won a free Jack's brekky burger. In a meal this goes for over $11, so definitely the most substantial thing they've ever offered for free.

They're also not taking the get your 5th coffee free on cards anymore - they will only accept through the app. However the policy seems to be inconsistent between stores, so suspect that one might be a localised thing. The problem they stated to me is that workers aren't taking back the cards after it's ordered at the drive thru.
