  • just bought $200 last week.

    • Buy again and return the current ones?

      • bt the cashback and extra 40% off ended

        • +1

You won then :), you would have purchased roughly $333.33 worth of items and paid $200 with 40%. You will need to pay 293.33 to repurchase.
Do not check OZ for the next 8 hours ;)

        • Same boat, but that's the way the cookie crumbles!

  • Any other offers to club it with?

    • I’m waiting for either cashback or significant discount to use it.

Saw this morning but not really a saving after all the extra % and cashback ended.

    I got this.

Noticed $395 annual fee charge 🤣
    I forgot, fml!

I'm cancelling my card now! Where do I transfer 200k amex pts? Krisflyer or velocity?

    • I ll be in the same boat soon. If you are planning to travel next year, go with Krisflyer. They ve got some good deals Feb onwards. Also gives you better connectivity.

      • Already booked business class may next year, I got another 150-200k expiring points by end of the year.

I'm thinking I extend them, and book another trip 2024? It was hard finding rewards seats 12 months ahead!

        • Yeah. I dont think they take bookings more than 12 months in advance.

          • @Mikedrop89: It was around 11 months, the award seats were difficult to find at 116k.

I got a 22 hour lay over in Singapore! Fml haha

            • @[Deactivated]: I had a productive 20 hour layover in Singapore couple of years ago. Hit the casino.

              • @Mikedrop89: The worse is, I leave Amsterdam at 10am and arrive at Singapore at 7am.

I arrive back in Australia at 7am or something too.

I'll probably get a cheap hotel and try sleep 5 hours, then explore the city for a bit! I didn't think about the casino!

I was like you last week. Got charged $395 annual fee and jumped on chat to cancel. They said they would refund me the $395 if cancel within 30days of it being charged. After going through the whole cancelling process, they asked me why I'm cancelling and what was the reason I initially signed up for the card. I answered $395 was too high of a fee and I signed up for the points. Then they replied and offered me 120k points to reinstate the card (seems dumb they didn't offer me just upfront), so I kept the card in the end and $200 up on the deal. YMMV

really the $400 travel credit, pts and amex offers goes a long way to covering off the $395 fee if you use it.

      • Yeah, I'm on chat at the moment and they haven't offered me anything yet.

If they offer me 120k points I would take it!

Can you still cancel a few months later, or min spend?

      • they didn't offer me anything when I cancel my card

      • Which card and how long have you had it ?

        • Explorer and 12 months exactly

  • Now I need to find another CC 🤣

Though about going down to the essential American Express, but I assume that if I re apply for an explorer in 18 months I won't be eligible for the bonus points because I hold an essential?

    • They didn't offer extra points?

      • Nope

Offered to switch to an essential card, or cancel my card.

I assume when they gave 120k, you don't get amex credit but I would rather a bonus 120k!.

I could bring it up next time via chat, see what they say!

        • same here Offered to switch to an essential card, or cancel my card.

          • @RichardF89: Yeah I should have cancel that 6 months ago instead of keeping it for the whole 12 months because that's not good for flipping though I do really love American Express and they've always been great with customer service.

            • @[Deactivated]: Yea, best service I have seen.

              • @stockastics: Can you cancel and still have flights booked using the travel credit? Would it be a hassle if the flight got cancelled and needing to re-book?

                • @Noppy: I don't think u can use the travel credit once u cancel.

                  • @stockastics: You can book the flights, and cancel the card. You must book flights, before you cancel.

It's seperate, I've done this in the past.

You can't book the flights, and get a refund for the annual fee tho.

        • I got offered the 120k points on top of all the usual annual bonuses like $400 travel credit, seemed like a no brainer so I kept the card. No minimum spend so I could cancel the card today and get my $395 still as it's within 30 days.

I do spend over $6k a month though and have to often pay down the card in between a full month so I can keep using it. Maybe they see me as a big spender.

  • Have the Amex Velociy Platinum. Dont see this offer.
