Signed up to league pass last year - via this post - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/668775.

Have just got a reminder that it is up for subscription for ZAR 839.99, which works out to $72.18, which is ok, do I risk it and cancel it in hopes for another half price deal!

    • Don't cancel guys. Your payment method might not go through when you sign up for a new sub. I tried creating new accounts, 3 separate credit cards and even a Revolut card.

      Just renew and speak to chat. It's pretty easy to get a discount. I ended up renewing for $38 (443.99 South African Rand)

      • Currently new accounts trying to pay are having issues, but if someone has a NBA account with a payment method already attached, that will go through. As long as it hasn't expired.

  • I got the same email. Then I emailed them to request for cancellation. An agent cancelled my subscription but gave me a 30% refund offer if I keep my subscription.

    Basically I will be charged with the amount in the email. Then 30% discount will be applied in a form of a refund.

    Total approx will be around $50.

  • The cost of League Pass has been cut by 56%. Not sure if this is worldwide or just the US, but something to consider.

  • I tried to update my payments details (new CC) but you can't at the moment, there is no "edit" button for payment details. I talked to chat and they confirmed that this option is unavailable at the moment and can't be updated until 16SEP (Aus time).

    They wouldn't confirm when money is debited, only saying late September.

  • Logged in today to check and the plan is to be renewed at R443.99 in mid Oct, which is cheaper than R739.99 they stated in the email. Works out to be $40.

  • So I got my email 31/8/2022 stating I would be charged ARS 2879.99 ($30 AUD) on 29/9/2022 for League Pass renewal of the upcoming 2022/23 season.

    I cancelled my sub with intent to explore other country prices. However unknowing at the time prices would not be available on NBA League Pass until 15th September.

    Fast-forward to present day I found Turkey Lara 439 ($36 AUD) to be most effective as that is the Premium (multiple-device) option, which IIRC Argentina did non offer. Unable to confirm because Argentina NBA server appears to be down. For comparison Australia's Premium is $209.99.

    I then tried to sub to the Turkey Premium League Pass but went I clicked on "Subscribe" it brought me to next pre-season game view. And now when I tried to reactive my existing Argentina sub it says "$8760.01/YR".

    Overall seems like NBA League Pass may be broken at the moment for cross-country VPN re-subscribers. Not sure how other peoples' experience has been.

      yes it seems like subscriptions aren't being properly registered

    • Hmm, I'm in a similar situation. Got the email on 31 Aug with the same price, which I'm happy to pay. But checking the NBA app today, it now says 8760.01/YR. I've just sent an email to clarify the actual amount that I will be charged. I'll be quite annoyed if it's the increased 8760, considering I never cancelled my subscription.

        • Thanks. I have subscribed the last few years and got my renewal email showing 1260 Mexican Pesos so just under $100 AUD. In the plan details on the website it says $960 per year which doesn't make sense.

          The only downside is that all the emails are in Spanish.

    Has anyone purchased a new subscription or has everyone been auto renew?

    I tried to purchase a new subscription with Argentina, Turkey and South Africa and I get “We are sorry, your payment could not be processed. Please re-enter your payment details, use a different payment method, or contact your financial institution.”

    I was trying with a Commbank card.

    Digging through previous topics the last person who had this issue changed their currency to USD when purchasing the league pass which in previous years you had a drop down that let you do this, now I don’t see that option anymore.

    Anyone else having these issues or have any potential solutions?

    • When I subscribed I did get the message, and I tried another card and it went through.

      You could also try apps like Bundll or Revolut if you need a different card but don't have other credit cards.

      • What card did you use? I keep getting same error message as Slidabear. Have tried a few Commbank cards and my Hiver visa card.

    I just tried NBA TV on PC or mobile, with or without VPN to Argentina (my subscription country), and I couldn't watch any of the contents anymore. Getting the same error message as the post, "out of country blocked because client is neither in home country nor in content portability region"

    So it looks like the days of getting NBA League Pass through VPN in other countries are gone. Unless someone can find a workaround?

    • I've had that message in some browsers and not in others. NBA app still plays games also.

    • I renewed my subscription with NordVPN via Turkey last night and all seems to be working now - Tried through PC and iPhone

      • Ditto, was able to purchase Turkey sub last night.

        Looks like NBA TV has partnered with Microsoft and made major changes to their app. Games loan and play much smoother now.

  • Can you change from monthly to annual without using a VPN? Pay about 12aud/mnth through South Africa at the moment. Games still seem to work in the android app without a VPN

      • Yeah not good, had signed up mid season and only planned to keep it for a few months. Have emailed support to ask to change to annual at the ZA prices listed above.

        Haven't been able to watch games on a browser, but it's worked on the latest Android and Android TV apps without a VPN.

      Mine plays games but under profile-> subscription it asks me to subscribe.

      On the PC some browsers give the message you mention.

    • mine is getting the out-of-country error message on PC using Firefox and Edge (Turkish account, with or without VPN)…am on the monthly plan which is still active…

      • what browser/OS are you using?
        I run linux and windows, and in Linux FF/Chromium I get out of country/drm license messages, but in windows it's fine.

        • am using Edge and Firefox on Windows…tried clearing cookies but I still get the error message on PC, tried using Nord Turkey VPN, still get the error….but I just tried it on my new TCL Google TV and it worked…BUT I can only seem to watch condensed older games on the Google TV app

            @ken70657: people who had a subscription for the previous season and already have a card added to their account can pay fairly easily it seems.
            but trying to pay on a new account it doesn't like it

            • @bohn: this! luckily my card was on their system from last season. I cancelled hoping to get a cheaper rate.

              when none of my payment methods went through, I asked chat to reinstate my subscription with a discount lol. a few people denied my request but finally got someone who was able to reinstate.

        guys … do not cancel your auto renewals hoping to get a cheaper rate. your payment method WILL NOT go through.

            • @dirtykent: Oh crap. I cancelled my renewal a few days ago in anticipation of signing up to a cheaper country/rate! I suppose chat won't be able to help me now, will they? I can still sign up for 839.99 now though and I'm saved payment method is still a valid card.

      • So, I couldn't find live chat to ask for a discount. I reactivated my cancelled subscription that previuosly stated 839.99 rand. After reactivation, it suddenly shows as 443.99! It won't be deducted from my card until 10/18, when I signed up last year.

  • Hi all - cant for the life of me remember which currency I purchased in last year but it says on my plan that I will be billed on Oct 18 for L235 / yr. Anyone know what the hell currency that is? Cheers

        • 1319.99 HNL is Honduras Lempira - i was using the same but paid via Paypal. This year I can't edit payment information and NBALP is saying transaction via Paypal failed last night. Have tried almost everything and about to give up. Will try Turkey with a new account i guess

          • @kofnek: Ha I am the exact same, does your plan details change to L currency though? I just went through that today and had no luck with new accounts and turkey, it kept declining my cards and then locked me out for too many attempts… hopeless

            • @Madfrega: Found a few Euro countries that accept Paypal (Greece for example) but they are about $90 AUD.

              I think Hungary was the cheapest with paypal available at $87 AUD so not a big difference. Not sure if either of those countries need VPN to watch though.

    • Don't worry, I went into my account and reactivated my subscription that I had cancelled when it said 8399.99 rand and now it's magically 443.99 rand a year! Winning!

  • for those that renew through Argentina, when i login and check Subscriptions, it says

    Account Status : Active
    Plan : 8760.01
    Next Bill : 18 October 2022

    but the email i have, says "Your League Pass subscription for access to the 2022-2023 season will renew on September 29, 2022 without you doing anything. On that date, you will be charged ARS 2879.99 using the billing information you have on file. The price includes any applicable sales tax in your jurisdiction."

    any one explain the above?

    • My email, although in a different currency, had a higher fee than what was stated on my account when I logged in and also says 18 October.

        Actually, just checked it and says “next bill 17 October 2023”

        And was charged $30.82

          • @Madfrega: No idea.. My renewal email said I would be charged 29 September, but the app (and the web version) said I would be charged 18 October 2022.

            I checked this morning, was still showing October then I emailed support (said I was originally from Argentina but currently holidaying in Australia) and then I checked about an hour later and it charged me the correct amount as the email stated

            Support contacted me back asking for all this information, so just ignored it

              • @Madfrega: I had the same issue. I have paypal saved which seems to be a problem now.

                No way to change payment info to a credit card. If you find a fix please let us know. I suspect they might be looking into overseas purchasing accounts since the viewership have skyrocketed in Argentina and South Africa last few years :)

                • @damonop: Well I potentially stupidly just cancelled it and tried to sign up again even using new emails and they didn't work either. Will have a play around over next few days. Using a turkey vpn came to about 40 bucks however it was declining my visa card payments. Very frustrating on the eve of the season that's for sure!!

                  • @Madfrega: My only solace is the subscription failed today and said the next payment will try to come out on 18/Oct, so hopefully the website is sorted or a workaround is in place until then.

                    Annoyingly it does seem to not like my paypal account, but I can change it to my credit card to fix the issue.

                      • @Madfrega: I can't. That's the problem. If you login to the web interface you can find payment method in settings, but there's no option to edit. Just says my method is PayPal and the payment didn't go through which is incredibly frustrating

  • Side note, via a Chromecast the playback is utterly horrendous. Stutters and buffers sometimes every couple of seconds, then randomly works fine for a few mins. This new app is seriously broken

    • It seems like I might be changing quality settings repeatedly but doesn't stick with low quality if I set it. Also subtitles randomly comes up and no way to turn it off

      • Strange. Probably due for an update. My firetv works well, and the NBA android app too. PC has some things not working

  • Got the monthly Turkey deal for A$4.50 back in April. so far it is still working and gets renewed every month using 28 degrees, without a vpn…but watching it on Firefox it buffers and does not allow me to change the streaming settings to a lower quality option unlike in the past.

  • Has anyone used Revolut and was able to pay for LP? I tried to look at Bundll since @bohn used it, but it looks like they’re not taking any new users.

    I previously paid via PayPal thinking that’s a better way to pay for it but now paying the consequences….

  • For those who have trouble getting the new credit card to go through, here's what I've done and worked.

    Originally I had my VPN on (to Argentina) and during the payment process when I input the new card info it will tell me that it cannot be processed.

    So what I've done is that I turn off my VPN, then go to league pass to login. Go into your account settings and update your card there first and it will update (note that I tried to update this with VPN on and doesn't work). Then once that's done you log out and turn on your VPN and go back to the subscription page (which should now auto populate with your updated card) and your payment should then process.
