JB hifi have magic the gathering products from the Strixhaven set going cheap. Whilst not the best set alone it does work well in chaos drafts or just cheap option to pull the rest of the collection a little cheaper. Normally set boosters going for a little less than $10 now going for $3. Also have cheaper prices for commander decks, collector packs and draft.
The different decks have different values, but are sold from the distributor as a display of 5. That means if you let people choose, you rapidly end up with 0 of some and 100s of others.
Now I remember why I quit that game and never looked back..
I quit paper but still play a few hours a day of Arena. Mainly brawl format though.
I only started playing Commander recently after not having played Magic since 2008. What a joke, a new set every month, brand new mechanics (some poorly thought out) every set and now to top it all off the new "UN…" set coming out will have some cards that are tournament legal. I think Wizards have truly jumped the shark with that last revelation.
@annarchon: Not to mention the secret lairs including everything from Street Fighter, to Fortnite, to band posters. Makes the fantasy theme we've played with for decades feel really cheapened.
@Sleeqb7: Don't forget the upcoming Dr Who crossover! I love Dr Who but I honestly don't want it part of MTG LOL.
@Monojoker: on the subject of cross overs i actually am pretty keen for the warhammer cross over LOL
@annarchon: I remember back when there was only boosters or the 60 card starter packs. There was always the secondary market but it felt like everyone had the same chance. Now you need to get set and collector boosters to try and feel like are getting the intended experience.
Imagine if Willy Wonka decided to release a $45 chocolate bar and only put the golden ticket in that release.
