Cheapest .com.au domain

Hey guys, im not too educated on how to build/run a website, but i recently came into a some goods that i would like to sell (probably on eBay). As i'm do not know how to really code a website, i couldn't possibly setup a store from there (though i'd love to), but i'm more thinking of just purchasing the specific .com.au domain i have in mind, and let it re-route to my eBay store..

In any case..

Whats should i look for when purchasing a domain?

Do i need "hosting", or a "server", and what does that do to your website?

(Looked at the people posting on the hightek bargain, but unfortunately i missed out)

Sorry if these questions are a little basic, but i've even surprised myself at having no knowledge on this matter whatsoever.

Thanks alot for all your help!

  • If you will be creating webpages then you need hosting on a server. The server computer is hosting your webpages on the Internet. You also need a domain name (example.com) that directs Internet users to your website on the server of your host.

If you are just directing blah.com to your EBay page, then you will just need domain registration. In the account details, there should be something there to redirect your domain to a webpage. Check out any of the deals here.

    MYOB

    Cove

Although, those specific deals are expired, the companies seem to be legit.

  • Both MYOB and COVE promotions have unfortunately expired. The cheapest .com.au at "everyday price" is probably Name.com.au — they are part of Australian Style group/bottled domain so they are legit. There are occasionally promotions from other companies that can give you cheaper price (or free!)
