That is Logan Mega Centre beside Ikea (not Logan Hyperdome or Logan Central DS)
They've been closing down for a while now. Almost no TV weeks ago.
Management is not DS but liquidators, so no normal DS specials & won't haggle.

    • Management is not DS but liquidators, so no normal DS specials & won't haggle.

How does this work? I would of assumed if one went into liquidation then all DS stores would.

      • What I have learnt from discussions with knowledgable DS store managers, DS outsourced close-downs to liquidation company. Liquidators have the experience in winding up parts (or whole) of a business, so DS can concentrate on normal business. So liquidators determine prices, not DS. Still employ old DS staff. But are not on DS stock system & dont have catalogue etc specials. eg spindles of 50 DVD-R were about $13.50 at Logan MC DS, but $2 at DS stores a while back.

  • These days its hard to find a DSE that isnt closing down!

Majority are not closing. In Logan, there are 3 close to each other, so rationalising down.
This was a larger 'PowerHouse' store, in an almost dead centre.

Agreed - that place is a ghost town most of the time. I've wondered most of the businesses there keep operating. Sorry to see this DSPH go as I've bought a bunch of stuff there over the years.

        • Yep, lease must be cheap as chips there for those stores to still be operating.

  • Any sale on unlocked mobile phones?

That 40" Sony TV on the front has a cheaper RRP from the Sony store itself…

    • blame them for having a last ditch attempt at ripping you off? :)

That link is for the US store.

    • I was gonna say the same thing
the price on the TV was way too high for a sale price
heck it's high even for every day price.

I went down there when they weren't closing down, and the staff were very difficult to deal with. I asked if the sales guy if it was possible to get a discount as I was buying three laptops for my business, and he said "no" and turned around and walked away.

I went to JB (20 minutes away) and bought three, and with out even asking the guy dropped the price $72 lower than the ticketed sale price at Dick Smith.

    • I had the same experience. They were confused pricks. JB always flexible on pricing and staff are awesome.

  • Just came back from there. Most of the good stuff has been cleaned out. Only thing of note there was the Nintendo 3ds for $174 and Super mario 3ds for $36.

  • Fanx for the heads up!!

Picked up new Olympus TG820 tough camera for cheaper than USA prices!

  • OMG, I went there and bought a Galaxy note before I saw this post… anyways, they had the original price at 785 down to 550. And now I went on DSE site finding out its 699! Is DSE suppose to have the same price in store and online?

    • From my post above - this is not DS!

Management is not DS but liquidators, so no normal DS specials & won't haggle.

      • Fair enough, I guess it was a good enough price for Aus stock XD still happiiii

        Ty

  • It will awesome if you can upload your receipts…we can price match in other stores

  • I thought they were meant to close down end of last month

  • Went to a DSE Close down in Hay street Perth….all discounts are based on RRP so I think it's a bit of farce…went to buy the TomTom on Special and they said they are no longer part of the DSE Chain. Be careful, only some deals are worth the effort.
