Hotel/Airbnb Recommendations in Singapore for 1 Week around AU$100-150 Per Night

Hi all,

Looking for recommendations for hotels/AirBNB to go for, and also to avoid.

Going for a week, will be doing a combination of touristy things say (Marina Bay, Museums/Galleries, and eating) - so we're looking around the CBD/Chinatown area, but want to know if other areas are just as good (e.g. we might spend some time in the East).

Budget ideally would be between $100-150AUD per night - so not expecting anything too flash, and we aren't planning on spending too much time in the hotels themselves so just clean and convenient is fine.

Appreciate any thoughts/experiences!

Hah I'm not asking for people to do research for me. More if someone stayed at a particular hotel and liked it, they can post here if they felt like sharing.

    • To answer this specifically, all the research on Hotels.com, Expedia I've done, points me to chains like ibis, or small boutique places with averageish ratings like 6.5-8.0 , so looking for any personal recommendations otherwise it's just potluck

With Singapore it doesn't really matter where you're based as long as it's near a train station.

For cheap and near a train station, V Lavender is good. Usually around the $150 a night mark and it on top of the Lavender train station (Green line which gets you into City Hall or airport) or a 10 minute walk to Basar Julan station (which is a direct line to Chinatown).

Hotel 81 is a very cheap chain as well. Might be worth looking there. I think there's one in Bugis which is fairly central .

when are you planning on going? might want to avoid going around the Dota 2 International tournament.. it will drive up prices, if everything hasn't been booked already.

After the tournament, but thanks for the heads up - didn't even realise this was a thing!

when i saw the title of your post, i thought you were going to be attending lol

  • Not Boss Hotel. It suits your budget, but the rooms are tiny and claustrophobic.

    • Good to know, thanks!

Sometimes hotels are cheaper than Airbnb, and I've definitely noticed lately that hotels are way cheaper than Airbnb

    • Thanks will keep that in mind

Can recommend Hotel Jen Orchard, pretty good location right above MRT and the 2nd best rooftop pool setup in Singapore.

    • Thanks mate! Will look it up

Just a reminder that AIrBnb is mostly illegal operators in Singapore. Some reputable places have permission to rent for less than 3 months but the majority advertised do not. Buyer beware! Good luck with your search. I think you'll find even places like the V Lavender will be above your suggested budget. Some smaller hotels in Little India might be in that range, but don't expect much in terms of quality.

    • Right I didn't know that, cool thanks for the heads up!

      • Yeah I had friends who lost their booking (host cancelled last minute with "leaking pipe" issue) and friends had to book hotel last minute at very expensive rates

  • I recently stayed at Ibis Bencoolen - which sounds like it will fit your criteria.

The hotel is fine, nothing flash and the rooms are very simple. However, the bed was comfortable, AC worked well and was very clean.
Location was great - there is a Hawker centre 1 minute away and a 7-11 next door if you need a convenience store.
Singapore is well connected by public transport. There is a bus stop out front and a maximum 10 min walk two different MRT Stations - Bugis or Rochor. Otherwise if you are up for a walk, you can easily walk through the city to the major tourist places.

    • I've stayed at the Ibis plenty of times. Great location.

And the computer markets are right across the road too
