  • What sort of gift card are we talking here?

    • +1

A Digital Card.Gift card, which can be used to swap for over 100 retailer gift cards listed on Card.gift.

Your energy australia electricity rates do not include the discount (about 5%) as per their website. Can you please confirm if customers signing up via your link will get this discount as well as the $25 sign up credit per EA website?

    • Doubt it.
Signed up here to consider their options…
2 Energy Australia plans (Flexi Plan & Basic Home) - both plans state no discount off your electricity charges or other benefits!

This business gets benefits for referring customers who change providers.

    • Customers signing up via our website will get the gift card from us as per the T&Cs, which is up to $250 but the $25 sign up credit is for customers going direct to EA website, so you won't be getting that.
As per the rates on our website, we publish the offers provided to us by energy retailers and sometimes, they could be different to what's available through retailers themselves

Refer a friend. Provides the option as you go through it. Just got my referral code via email after signing up.

    • +1

You are aware you can't post your personal referral codes in comments, right?

    • -1

      LIAR!

    • If it's not in our referral system, you can request we add it here. Please add relevant details.

    • Thanks for signing up and mentioning the Refer A Friend promotion. Yes, that is an additional benefit you get for using our services. You can refer as many friends as you like and every time your friend/s use your referral code and sign up successfully, then you and your friend will both get $50!

      • So you can get the referral bonus also?

        • +1

          Yes you certainly can!
You can refer as many friends as you like and every time your friend/s use your referral code and sign up successfully, then you and your friend will both get $50!

      • so can you get $250 + $50 using this deal and the refer a friend?

        • That's right!
You will get up to $250 gift card through this deal and you can refer as many friends as you like and every time your friend/s use your referral code and sign up successfully, then you and your friend will both get $50!

          • @cnc: So to make it crystal clear, the refer a friend code will not void the $250 giftcard right?
Since "This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount."

            • @bargaingalor3: Seems…
You sign up for this Deal, to receive up to $250 in cards…
Then receive referral credit when others use your code.
              No referral randomiser requested yet.

              • @INFIDEL: I have a referral code and if my friend wants to use it with this $250 then does my friend get both 250 and 50? Still not clear

                • @bargaingalor3: How did you receive a referral code?

                • @bargaingalor3: This offer is not valid in conjunction with any other offer. Meaning you can send them this link and they get up to $250 in card.gift cards, or you can refer them and they get a $50 card.gift card as do you for doing it. There’s no limit to how many friends and family you refer

            • @bargaingalor3: That is correct.

This offer is not valid in conjunction with any other offer. Meaning you can send them this link and they get up to $250 in card.gift cards, or you can refer them and they get a $50 card.gift card as do you for doing it. There’s no limit to how many friends and family you refer

    • Did you need to switch to signup, or can I just signup and refer friends right away without switching my services?

  • :D

  • Signed up to consider their options in Brisbane…
Need to enter address & contact details.

Only 4 plans from 3 providers:
Alinta (my current provider - so no gift card)
Energy Australia (Flexi Plan or Basic Home - both with no additional discount)
    Ovo (with monthly discount).

Based on bill entered all are about same estimated cost as current plan. So no savings with their options for me.

Ovo is $5/mth dearer but has $120/yr discount ($120 bill credit (incl GST) paid in 12 monthly installments of $10 to offset charges on your bill). Will check it out.

But the $150 gift card on electricity within 60d would be worth the change.
Received $100 Woolies gift card with Econnex when changed provider in May.
As consume little electricity - funds most bill costs.

  • OzBargain Exclusive Offer!
(Link includes their referral code for this offer)
$150 + $100 is significant increase from their offer of $50 each for electricity & gas in July.

  • Does it work in ACT?

    • Yes it does!

      • Does the referral code stack with the gift card on switching offer?

        • This offer is not valid in conjunction with any other offer.

Meaning you can send them this link and they get up to $250 in card.gift cards, or you can refer them and they get a $50 card.gift card as do you for doing it. There’s no limit to how many friends and family you refer

  • My quote was not too bad as I am on a good deal already

  • Is there a minimum period for which you have to stay with the new provider, after switching?
I know it says the gift card would be sent 60 days after connecting, but nothing else about minimum periods.

    • That's mainly up to the electricity retailer's t&c. Check for contract conditions, exit fees etc.
After you receive the gift card, that's it for this business. They earnt a fee for referring you, after you successfully swapped.

Would likely require remaining with new retailer for at least a month…
Swapped with Econnex to Alinta in May for $100 card, they stipulated "In case the switch or connection is cancelled within the first 30 days the transaction would be deemed invalid." Card email arrived in about 60d.

If using a cashback business, you may need to stay much longer. See past CR & SB electricity offers.

There is a 10d cooling off period for contract with new electricity retailer - before swap occurs.
And there may be a delay before the swap due to meter reading - if necessary.

    • +1

  • Rep still haven't responded, if you can sign up with someone referral code to get the $50 as well as to $250 at the same time.

    • You can get up to $250 using this deal and then get your friend/s to use your referral code to get $50 more, as long as they successfully sign up (there's no limit to how many friends/family you would like to refer)

      • I have a referral code and if my friend wants to use it with this $250 then does my friend get both 250 and 50? Still not clear

        • This offer is not valid in conjunction with any other offer. Meaning you can send them this link and they get up to $250 in card.gift cards, or you can refer them and they get a $50 card.gift card as do you for doing it. There’s no limit to how many friends and family you refer

    • Hello,
Yes we can see that your application has come through, stay tuned for updates re your gift card as per the T&Cs.

Thanks again for using compare & connect.

  • Considering this $150 gift card offer…

Already received $100 Woolies gift card from Ecconex for swapping to Alinta in May.

Today received $175 "Qld Govt Cost of Living Rebate" for electricity!

September bill rose a whopping $1.25 - due to higher electricity charges ($17.20 total for month)💰
(use 3.4kWh/d, electric only house, no solar, receive Qld electricity rebate)

Seems I'm being paid for using (little) electricity😊

    • so you mean after the discount it's $17.20 or that's your bill?

      • That's my total bill. (After "Qld Govt Electricity Rebate" of about $1/d.)

Having changed retailer, was worried about increased electricity charges. But it's only $17.20 on new charges, up from $15.95 last month😊

Will take about 10 months to use up the additional $175 "Qld Govt Cost of Living Rebate" for electricity. (Previous annual Rebate to all was $50.) An advantage of not privatising! Will receive a refund when changing retailer.

Over last year or so, rebates & offers to change retailers have been worth more than the bills paid.

        • that's really low, u must not use much electricity. my elderly friend only really uses lights but still have a bill for about $30.

          • @huntress_love: Yes, as I said… use 3.4kWh/d, electric only house, no solar (but considering it)
The Qld Govt electricity rebate slices $30/mth off cost.

Used to live off-grid, so am more aware of energy consumption.

And living in a climate that is much warmer in Winter (no need for heating) & often cooler (but more humid requiring aircon for most) in Summer keeps costs down.

            • @INFIDEL: That makes sense, with such a low bill, you can definitely make money changing retailers often!

              • @huntress_love: Lots of ways to save $… Or even make $!

Like SIM hopping I've been doing for 8 years - saving a lot.

Rewards points from supermarkets etc. Received $130 worth for about $10 spend in a day recently. Posted a Deal for $80 worth of Woolies points for 8c spend!
Summer, earnt 100k Telstra Plus points for a 5 night stay in historic backpackers @$35/n - 5min walk to beach in Noosa… (used to buy a few $80 Belong Mobile SIMs @2k pt each)

Some electricity retailers offer credits to apply against bills, & companies like this offer gift cards.

                The savings add up.

Consider what is unnecessary. Am using USB LED task lighting in the house. And a few Aldi solar powered $8 motion activated shed lights for general room lighting.
Picked up useful strong USB LED lights free with JB Perks vouchers!
Rarely need to use main room lighting any more. Like the lighting. But won't save that much.

Always check what Government & other benefits are available. Especially in a case like your elderly friend. Am often talking with retired people, checking they know the benefits.

As I effectively retired much younger than usual (self funded), was told I couldn't receive a useful (Low Income) Health Care card. After a 4 month battle, received the card which saves me $80 off a necessary health check next week, plus much cheaper medicine costs. (Now to claim back the 4 months of overcharges, through Medibank.)

  • Does this work for moving home and selecting a new provider?

    • Hello yes it does

  • no referall system yet. Can someone send me a code ty.

    • +1

it doesn't stack with this offer, so if you use a referral you'll only get $50 instead of the $150 for ele

      • +1

        ok, thx for the reminder

  • DON'T DO IT! I signed up on MONDAY. Heard nothing. Been trying to get in touch with them ever since. It's now FRIDAY. No replies to emails and can't get through on the phone. So dodgy!

    • Hello. This is quite strange as our local team is open and taking calls

Can you please email [email protected] and will look into this for you on Monday. If you can include your application number and phone number will resolve this for you

    • +1

Usually people complain about the number of messages they receive from a similar comparison service!

      Heard nothing.

Did you receive email confirming sign up, including your application number?
If not - sign up failed, so they wouldn't contact you. (Otherwise need to sign up again.)
Arrived soon after sign up for me.

This service was eager to contact me, as expected - that's how they make their money!

They rang next morning "to help me". Missed call so they sent SMS with information & number if I want to call.

Certainly not "So dodgy!" in my experience.

  • I've signed up with Powershop through you guys. The reference number is S494562, can you confirm that it's been tracked and I'll receive the $250 voucher? Thanks!

  • Hello,
Thanks for signing up through compare & connect and we can confirm that we have your application in our system and your voucher will be sent as per the T&Cs.
    Thanks again.

  • Can you choose a date for sign up? Also can I switch to one of the plans you lost and then switch to another plan in the same retailer and still get the gift card (e.g sign up for agl normal plan and switch to solarsaver)?

  • +1

    Hello,
Can you please advise if you mean: choose a move-in date for a new connection? If so, yes, you can (barring weekends & public holidays).

As per the T&Cs of the offer, to be eligible for the gift card, you need to stay with the same retailer for 60 days after successfully switching over (or organising a new connection) and if you want to switch to a different plan with the same retailer, we would recommend doing it after the 60 days.

    Regards,

  • Hi Rep,

Can you please help double check I will get $250 gift cards? My Reference number is L240556.

    Thanks.

  • Hello,
Thanks for signing up through compare & connect and we can confirm that we have your application in our system and your voucher will be sent as per the T&Cs.
    Thanks again.

  • can you use the referral code under the same persons name but for a second meter address

    • Hello,
Yes you can but please note that you will only get a $50 gift card.
      Thanks.

  • Your comparison yields:

Showing 1 plans from 1 retailer.

That retailer is AGL with the highest rates.
It also picked up the wrong distributor - CitiPower instead of United Energy.

    • if you would like to email [email protected] with your specific details we can look into this.

Occasionally some properties on a border of distributors will generate an error

  • Tried a different address, and was able to see OVO Energy's plans.

@cnc Can you confirm if I switch to OVO Energy for power only, I could receive $150 GC + $50 RAF GC + $120 Winter Bonus Credit from OVO Energy (credited $10 p/m on a pro-rata basis)?

It sounds too good to be true.

    • Hello. The $150 gift card cannot be combined with the refer a friend offer of $50 gift card, though you will receive any retailer discount as per the site on top of the plan.

You can refer as many friends as you like and you will receive $50 and they will receive $50 gift card

      • I thought you said for energy australia the $25 sign up credit does not apply if we go through your site. How come you are saying here "you will receive any retailer discount as per the site on top of the plan."?

        • Hello,
You will get any retailer credit if its available on our website. The Energy Australia plan you are referring to is available to customers if they sign up on online on their website directly.

          • @cnc: Ah ok so it has to state in your website. Ok thanks for clarification

      • The $150 gift card cannot be combined with the refer a friend offer of $50 gift card

Underneath the address search box, there is the following field:

Do you have a 'Refer a Friend' Promo Code?

Are you saying, if I use my mate's C&C RAF code here, you won't honor the $50 GC both ways?
Or, will it invalidate this promotional offer?

You can refer as many friends as you like and you will receive $50 and they will receive $50 gift card

There is no incentive for a friend to use my code seeing this is a better deal.

        • You can receive the Ozbargain exclusive offer of $150 card.gift on its own. Should you refer a friend you will get $50 gift card as will they receive $50 and not the $150 offer.

          Y

          • @cnc:

Should you refer a friend you will get $50 gift card as will they receive $50 and not the $150 offer.

Therefore, if you are a true friend you will tell your friend about this deal, and then refer all your fake friends after this promotion is over.

  • Hey I signed up for Alinta energy via your website. Can you confirm I will get the voucher. My reference no. is M697439
    Thanks

  • Hello,
Thanks for signing up through compare & connect and we can confirm that we have got your application.
    Regards,

    • Can I also check this unique reference code: W063399

      • Hello,
Yes we have got your application and thanks for signing up through compare & connect.
        Regards,

  • Can't seem to sign up with Powershop.

    • Hello,
Have sent you a private message so we can look into the issue.
      Thanks,

  • @cnc Some questions about the gift card itself:

    1. Are you providing us with a Prezzee Smart (Swappable) Gift Card?
    2. When do the GCs expire? 3 months after being issued to us?
    • Our gift cards are card.gift by TCN and have a three year expiry. Feel free to read as much as you want on the TCN website

  • I just checked again. Not giving me good deals. Gave me my current provider as cheapest and two other more expensive options. I suggest you compare deals on the government electricity website for cheapest provider.

  • I wanted to sign up with you instead of cashrewards as you're offering a better deal but you don't seem to offer powershop as one of your providers even though their reference price is much lower and they have a much higher feed in tariff for solar.

    • Hello,
Can you please email us at [email protected] so we can look into the issue?
      Thanks,

      • I did email, after which you did call me, just to confirm that powershop is not on your panel and it can't be done for my postcode in Sydney. I'm going to sign up through cashrewards instead.

  • Hi rep could you please check that my reference L239784 was valid for the voucher?

    • Hello,
Yes we have your application in our system and thanks for signing up through compare & connect.
      Regards

  • The rates are not that good but signed up anyway due to the gift card, will compare with others once I get my first bill.
Is there a minimum amount of time you have to be with the selected energy provider to get the gift card?

    • Hello,
Thanks for signing up through compare & connect. You have to stay with the new provider for at least 60 days after the transfer to get the gift card.
      Thanks,

  • why has power shop been taken out? It was in my quote 2 weeks ago

    • Hello,
Can you please email us your reference number to [email protected] so we can look into the issue?
      Thanks,

  • Hi just signed up can you check if I got the gift card?

    F075464

    • Hello,
Yes we have your application in our system and thanks for signing up through compare & connect.
      Thanks,

  • Does it stack with referral $50? Where is the referral code finder?

    • this offer is not valid with any other offer, though you can refer friends and both of you will receive a $50 gift card on its own

      • so it doesnt stack

  • Never got back to me and not the best deals offered. Missing many power resellers.
