[Audiobook] The Hitchhiker - Free with Subscription (Was $19.95) @ Audible

410
Free for Audible AU subscribers for September.

The Driver:

Ahead he could see only the stretch of unending road, on either side brown-scorched plains of dirt and scrub, above it all a soaring blue sky and blinding sun. Desolation that looked, to him, a hell of a lot like freedom. He wasn’t playing by anyone’s rules anymore.

The Hitchhiker:

Have you ever done something bad? The question was like a clawed hand seizing his guts. It had taken everything he’d had not to whimper, to cower away and beg. But as he’d deflected, he’d told himself to stay calm. To be in control. He had to be in control here.

The Fugitive:

She’d made a mistake. Wasn’t the first time and wouldn’t be the last. Ever since she’d left, all she’d found was more trouble. More fights. More secrets. More scars. Now here she was, still alive but a long way from anywhere, and with options dwindling fast.

From the award-winning author of The Hunted comes a fast-paced outback thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

"The Hitchhiker straps the listener into the chair and slowly turns up the voltage for six terrifying hours. I haven't found a cat-and-mouse game this captivating since Misery." (Jack Heath, author of Kill Your Brother)

"Two things I will never do again after devouring The Hitchhiker: miss a book by Gabriel Bergmoser; ever get in a car with him…" (Benjamin Stevenson, author of Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone)

    Thanks OP

  • Still have 2 credit, don't know what to listen to next…

    • What genres are you into?

      • Sci fi, fantasy, self-help, most genres

We are legion, we are bob. The blade itself. The lies of Locke Lamora. Expeditionary Force. Rivers of London.

          • @Palpatine: I have been reading Expeditionary Force, I like it.

        • The Way of Kings is the greatest masterpiece you will ever encounter, although I would recommend the book.

Red Rising is a series I really enjoyed on Audible.

        • Another vote for We Are Legion, We Are Bob. But it is a three book series.

The Three Body Problem is also great (also a three book series.

14 is a good standalone contemporary mystery that pays homage to the Cthulhu universe.

Yes! Probably the best narrated audiobook I have have ever listened to.

      • Thanks, I give that a go.

Its good, but I have abandoned all hope of ever having a conclusion to this story.

Totally agree with the recommendation for Name of the Wind. Together with the second part, The Wise Man's fear, you'll have over 70 hours of listening.
Hopefully by the time you get through them, the third book will have finally been published ;-)

I really enjoyed the Ready Player One narrated by Wil Wheaton.

The movie was so bad, if I would have watched the movie first I would not have listened the audiobook for sure.

Also Armada was quite good, and also narrated by Wil Wheaton.

I am a Trek nerd, what can do you :D

      • Totally agree
        Loved loved loved the audiobook
        Sorely disappointed by the movie

Just to be clear, this is free that is it wont cost me a credit?

        • +1

The recommendation is free, audiobook costs a credit :D

      • Just logged in to say I can't stand Wil Weaton's narration. To me it sounds as though he's permanently near shouting in an obnoxious way and he has very minimal repertoire of different character voices so it all ends up sounding the same monotone rant. I realise he's very popular and has a following but I just don't get it.

    • If you have any interest, I can't recommend the Mel Brook's Biography audio-book highly enough. It's kinda self serving and rarely self-critical, but by getting the audio version, it's like you've just got Mel Brooks hanging out, telling stories about The Producers and Blazing Saddles.

  • Is it free to own, or free to stream?

These free books are to own.
