  • Anyone used these cameras, how are they compared to other brands like Dahua or Hikvision, TPLink, etc.. with similar specs?

Also any ideas on how much is the installation cost?

    • +4

I bought the same NVR but with 4x 4k cameras. They are super crisp and work well. Human detection is 90% accurate.

Install cost me $600 from a licensed CCTV installer.

With 8 cameras, the 2TB HDD will not record a week worth of footage - you will need to upgrade to a larger HDD

      • Thanks for sharing your experience, how is the night vision?
Some of the cameras I've seen have a crappy night vision and auto change to black&white mode?

        • +1

Night vision is good for the price I paid. If you do not need 8x 4k cameras, I would look at the 4x 4k camera + NVR package as it is half the price

        • Night vision is great, I think it's reasonably clear

        • Night vision is black & white unless you have very good lighting. There are other models with color night vision

      • Hello,

        Thanks for your attention.

This product RLK16-820D8-A comes with a 3TB HDD. Sorry for the inconvenience caused by the wrong title, it has now been corrected.

they would be mid tier, not up there with Dahua or Hikvision
but id suggest better than TPLink or Swann etc

the firmware for the newer AI cameras are finally getting pretty decent, but the nvr software is still playing a bit of catch up.
for example some settings can be changed directly connecting to the camera, but not available in the nvr software.
or you cant update camera firmware through the nvr.

some also suggest running their cameras through another POE switch, and just setting them up as RSTP devices to get better customisation.

      • I am looking at getting Dahua ( to be on safer side), but that cost almost double compared to this offer..which makes me think again….and again and again…and I can't get anywhere…

    • Similar experience, very happy with my 4k cameras. Human detection is too sensitive in my opinion, so I don't use it (have a Eufy doorbell)

The app works great and stream is quick even on 4k.

  • Nothing on the 4 camera version I guess…

      • Title still wrong. Still has the RLK8

  • I have.Zosi cameras they are trash. My cousin has these they are amazing. Responsive app is good too. Wish id got this system instead.

    • +1

I have bad experience with Zosi too…I believe they are worst camera in the world 😩

  • It says 15%, not 25% off. Unless im doing it wrong?
Edit. Had to click the coupon and then add the code too

    • Hello,

      Thanks for your attention.

      Yes, you are right. 160 coupon(10%) +15% code=25% off

      • How long is this running for?

      • Can these units be connected to an alarm activation?

  • +1

not sure if anyone knows.. how "safe" is Reolink, that is, is any of the video being transmitted through their/3rd party servers or is it solely contained to your own home network?

  • OP I have a question; Is it possible to connect a 4G modem to the NVR for installation of the system in a remote area, and will this provide mobile 4G access to each camera (PoE), or the NVR, and be accessible via the Reolink app on a mobile phone?

    Thanks.

    • +1

You can try asking that in the reddit reolink forum. I think you should be able to but I'm not 100% sure. https://www.reddit.com/r/reolinkcam/

      • Thanks for the link Elyxar. I'm hoping the rep can answer as likely it's been asked before.

  • Does it require a separate power source as the image shows three plugs with a power inlet?

    • Hello,

      Thanks for attention

No need for a separate power supply. Power, video, and sound run through a single PoE cable, making the installation simple. Cameras come with 60ft 8Pin network cables so you will find it easy to get everything up and running in no time.

And the power inlet you see is used to charge the camera when the camera is not used with the NVR so that the camera can be used alone.

    Any deals for the RLK8-842D4-A

  • Wrong unit. RLK8-842D4-A not RLK8-820D4-A.

  • RLK8-842D4-A 4K Vandal-Proof PoE Security Camera System

  • Is RLK16-820D8-A equivalent to model rlc-822a?
