[PC] Rocksmith Plus (Guitar Lessons) Annual Plan $139.95 (3 Months Free if You Owned & Played Rocksmith 2014) @ Ubisoft

140

Rocksmith Plus is now live for PC. Had a bit of a look around on VPN and it doesn't look like there is any incentive to pay in either Euros, USD or GBP as AUD prices are as good as they get.

You get four free months if you previously owned and played Rocksmith 2014. It says that this is applied automatically at checkout, Im not sure how that works if you owned it on another platform, but it does say if it isnt applied automatically reach out to their customer team and they will sort it out for you.

Once you factor this in (for those who own RS 2014) it works out to $9.33 a month, which is admittedly still a bit above the nose, but it does promise to be a lot better than the older versions.

Also if you sign up in the next month you get one months free access to Ubisoft's version of gamepass. For what thats worth.

As a novice guitarist who played guitar hero, I couldn't wait for rocksmith to come out.
Also Rocksmith showed me I wasn't as good at guitar as I thought I was.

  • The sub is not multiplatform.

  • Do you still need the stupid usb guitar cable or does it work with any standard capture line?

      From the link:
How to Connect my Guitar or Bass

There are 2 ways to connect your instrument to Rocksmith+ to enjoy real-time feedback and note detection.
Option 1: Download the free Rocksmith+ Connect app

Use your phone's mic to track your guitar-playing with the free companion app.
Option 2: Use a real tone cable of your choice

Plug your instrument directly to your PC and get analog-to-digital interface.

keen to see some reviews before I commit. Love RS2014, hoping this is better on the learning side though

  • Here is the Rocksmith songlist

Grrr. No Guns n Roses still. Luckily for the hacked version…

Any thoughts on this vs yousician? I believe yousician you can still get vpn discount down to circa $40 a year via Vietnam I think it was..

    • +1

Obviously this is more expensive. However, Yousician wasnt necessarily better than even RS2014. If they can deliver on their promises, and you can afford this more expensive sub, then I think this is the more compelling choice. IMO.

  • Is it me or does the song library seem a little lack luster and random?

  • I learnt a lot of how to play guitar from RS2014.

Shame cable is so expensive and fragile otherwise would keep using it.

    • +1

I bought a $40 Behringer UMC202 interface and it works perfect. No need to worry about replacing the cable when it breaks.

      • Thanks for this will check it out

      • The 202 is showing as 150 bucks. Do you mean the 222?

With those I need to get a quarter inch to RCA ?

        • Sorry, it's the UCA, not UMC. The 202 and 222 are identical except for colour.

          $39'ish on Amazon right now.

          • @TheSnyper: Thanks, I got a month subscription and using the app via the phone. Really enjoying it, but yeah not many songs I like.

  • +3

Genuinely curious - what are the reasons someone would pay a costly recurring subscription for RS+ rather than just buy (or stay on) RS2014?
Especially since RS+ doesn't support custom songs.

    • +1

because, depending on your experience, RS2014 was still ropey at note detection at times, no matter how many times you tuned the guitar

      • +2

Yeah - I AM a crappy player no doubt, but SOME songs just do not detect certain notes no matter how you adjust for them. Luckily only a few but a bit of testing and adjusting would have been nice before releasing those songs.

I'm having a hard time upgrading though. $140 is more than Netflix, Disney etc.

And do I really get that much more than 2014?

  • I learned with Fender Play and now I'm able to "play" some songs.

How is this comparing to Fender Play ? is this for total beginner or you can actualy become a "rock start" if done all the learning ?

  • +2

I tried RS+ during closed beta and I really liked the 'tab view' feature, which RS2014 doesn't have. But overall I still prefer RS2014 + cdlc…

  • +2

Expensive, especially considering how many major artist's songs aren't included. Sure, they'll add more, but I'll reckon I'll stick with RS2014 & cdlc for now..

  • +2

Just get songster app. Its a 1 off purchase and you can learn virtually any song.

    • Songsterr is $9.90 USD/month?
Did it used to be a 1 off purchase?

  • Is this coming to consoles?

I kinda miss RS 2014. I was just starting to get the hang of a few songs.
