What Did You Do When You Encountered $#¡+ Toilet Paper?

I had an experience with a few sheets of a well known brand of toilet paper which I would not want a repeat of again. This had me thinking about what you would do with the roll and unopened packs.

Upon inspection (photo may be added if I can find the option here) I can see one side is smooth to the touch but indented with a visible pattern and the flip side is ROUGH to the touch with raised dotting of the visible pattern.

I guess if there was a standard way of loading the roll on the roll dispenser, you might be able to have a household use the smooth side without any thought. But there is usually a fight over the sheets unwinding against the wall vs. unwinding away from the wall.

Easy solution here, the ones who think the toilet paper should unwind against the wall should be sent away and never spoken about again, because they're wrong.

Smooth for early stage broad strokes.

    Rough for detailed finish work.

Whack a smear of sorbolene at the end if your derriere requires it.

    Couple of ideas -

Put some into the car for emergencies when you wont give a crap about the paper for your crap.
Also, use to clean the toilet instead of chux, pine o clean wipes etc. Just spray on whatever you have, wipe and flush.
Or, give it to a cat.

    • Yep, going with the 'use it to clean'
      Thanks

But there is usually a fight over the sheets unwinding against the wall vs. unwinding away from the wall.

Get rid of the "unwinding against the wall" heathens from your house and your problems go away. Likely a lot of problems go away.

  • I think I'd be happy with your paper given your description. Unless you count the house brands as well known I haven't used a well known brand since - well not since generics appeared. Where has the 2 ply gone? Is there anything still available for 13¢/100 sheets? Honestly, as long as the toilet paper doesn't fall to bits when its gets wet I'm happy. Delsey unbleached 1ply 1000 sheets per roll used to be good a long time ago. Dimples are nothing to get upset about.

    • Agreed! Where has 2 ply gone. I'm such a wierdo coz it's one thing I'm fussy about. And I'm not fussy about brands etc. 3ply is overkill

      • My theory is that the manufacturers are focussing on the higher margin products due to a shortage of woodchips and perhaps labour. The only 2 ply availabiilty I've seen was this product online now out of stock again which was 17¢/100 sheets up from the 13¢/100 that generic toilet paper was the last time I bought some.

        • Managed to pick some up in-store for $4.50 which equates to 14.4¢/100 sheets for 260 sheet rolls. Seems that the unit pricing I last saw was incorrect or I imagined it. It's marked as made for Woolworths so it seems Woolies have picked up on Aldi's trick of giving generics brand names.

Use it to clean the toilet?

Wipe all of the toilet surfaces from top to bottom using a cleaner that is safe to flush, then flush the paper when you’re done cleaning.

    • Awesome idea. It didn't fall apart quickly when wet either.

Put this out when you have guests.
    Remove it when they leave.

  • Wet it lightly with water and all toilet paper becomes smooth.

    • Yeah no, on the Poop soup express

      • Have you never used a bidet?

  • I posted about it on ozbargain…

Just put the toilet paper unwinding away from the wall like any other normal human being. What sort of heathens do you live with???
