Robot Pool Vacuum

Hi all,

Looking to purchase a pool robovac that does the pool walls and operates from a power point.

From the research I've done, seems like quite a costly gadget 🙃

Any recommendations from the OzB community?

Thanks in advance

  • I have a prowler 920 and am happy with it

A lot of robots are just rebadges of others. Does get a little confusing and hard to compare.

  • Bought one of these. Not cheap, it works well, but steps remain a bit of a challenge

  • I have a Maytronics DB1 and its great. Its old power pack done broke but got a new updated one under warranty.

They are costly, BUT if you don't need to use it all the time, take it out, give it a hose off and store it away and it should last a very long time.

  • I've got a Dolphin S200.
Brilliant little device, expensive but does a good job. Just chuck it in, switch on. Let it run around for a few hours & pull it out.
Then clean filters & put it away.

The DB1 (aforementioned) and the S200 (both made by Maytronics/Dolphin) are similar. I think the DB1 is cheaper but not 100% sure of the difference.

    Personally i wouldn't want a pool cleaner with a 240v cable attached..
    https://robotzoo.com.au/pool-cleaning-robots/ look good…

but then I'd not have another house with a pool..
    YMMV

  • It's going to depend very much on the pool parameters.

    Surface material (tile/fibreglass/vinyl/pebblecrete etc).
    Slope of the bottom.
    Wall/base angle.
    Presence of steps/ledges/ladders.

  • I've got a Zodiac…older model of the CX20 they now sell and it hasn't missed a beat in 5-6 years.

I wouldn't say it's great on steps but otherwise it's amazing.

It was around $1000 at the time but worth every penny :)

    • Got the Zodiac FX18 as ex demo. Would buy again, but stairs aren't great. Had to buy the improved filter to get more fine dirt out though.

  • I have a pool cleaner ii. It uses the pump suction to mechanically wheel itself ‘randomly’ around the pool. It doesn’t get the steps however.

It pretty much lives in the pool and aside from sucking up the occasional palm frond or pool toy and jamming, just keeps going.
