This gift card is more like a prepaid debit card rather than a gift card that you can load up your online balance
I was hoping to buy via CBA and Amex to make a purchase using 2 'gift cards'.
Sounds like a retailer would only accept 1 and may possibly decline if the purchase is bigger than the balance:

The gift cards in this deal are actually prepaid Mastercard gift cards that work at some merchant types (although don’t ask me which ones). If you attempt to make a purchase at a merchant where the transaction amount is higher than the available balance of a Special gift card, the transaction will be declined (which is what would happen for any kind of Mastercard).
If you are purchasing online, this essentially means you can only redeem 1x Special gift card per online transaction. However, depending on the merchant you are at, you may be able to use the merchant’s own gift card (or even multiple) in conjunction with 1x Special gift card to pay for an online transaction.
If you are purchasing in-store, you may be able to redeem more than 1x Special gift card in a transaction, but this is ultimately up the merchant.
It would help if you mentioned the retailer you had in mind, then we could give you more specific advice.
Just bought $100 Amazon gift card with $100 Special GC (Debit card in fact) via Amazon GC Fest Deal to get $5 extra.
No need to worry so much of transactions declining, net profit $15 by combining both.
