Amazon credit can be used to buy other (non-amazon) gift cards too

    • I wonder what people are buying for this $5 credit… Why this is so popular… Genuine question

      • +2

Essentials are always on sale at Amazon (nappies, Pepsi, quilton, omo). You're not really forced to buy something you don't need.

  • Can you use ShopBack gift vouchers to pay for these or do they only allow card as payment for gift cards?

    • +1

Not for the Amazon gift cards but yes to the rest of the list (Google Play Store and the specialty gift cards)

Use the suggested method above by @nicholasv

  • +2

5% isn't enticing but have a + for 'just looking around'

  • Did they ever reach the 5000 customers limit ?

  • Does it require entering any promotional code?

    • AGCFEST FOR $5 Amazon Credit on $100 Amazon Gift Card

  • Can you apply Amazon credit to a not-yet shipped order?

    • +1

I just purchased a card and applied it to a pre-order. The option to do so was in "Order Details" so take a look there.

  • +4

So only one $100 Amazon gift card or we can buy multiple gift cards and still get $5 for each gift card?

  • Can you buy multiple Amazon gift cards, and still get $5 for each $100 gift card?
    Thank you

    • +3

      One per account

      • How about buying 1x Netflix $50 - get $5. Then buying 1x Amazon $100 - get another $5 (theoretically it's different category)?

  • damm it. Just bought 2x100 Amazon gc yesterday.

    • are you buying iphone?

    • Same here. Bought $250 gc yesterday for the airpods pro 2nd gen discounted

  • +3

To those who is after Amazon gift cards,
you'll need to enter the promotion code AGCFEST, as per T&C
    https://www.amazon.com.au/b/ref=s9_acss_bw_cg_GCF_2a1_w?nodeā€¦
Otherwise you won't get your $5 credit
OP please update the post ASAP

Also you don't have to purchase 1x$100
2x$50, 5x$20 or 10x$10 etc is also fine as long as total is > $100

I've received my $5 credit 30 mins after my payment.

  • Bought one GC Amazon $100! Nothing else interesting to buy.

    • did you enter the promo code?

      • Yes, I did.

However, I was somewhat looking more into this gift cards deal :-/

  • +1

First time having a problem… getting "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase." Must be doing something wrong.

    • try type it instead of copy and paste, when you make your payment at the order page.

      • +1

Thanks, but still didn't work. Underneath my order total, it says "Qualifying offers:
GC promotion" but not sure if this means I'm definitely registered for the promo?

        • +3

you are one of the 5,000 if you see that
just wait for up to 2 days for the credit to arrive

          • +1

            @TanedaR: Thanks!

          • @TanedaR: thanks, also answered my question. i thought the value will be deducted from the payment directly.

    • +6

You probably entered it twice. Happened to me. I applied the code and it looked like nothing happened. I applied the code again and got the error.
I purchased anyway and got the $5 credit after 10-15 mins

      • +1

        I can confirm this. ;)

  • Also getting the message: "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase."

Tried re-typing the code manually with the same result.

Maybe the promo has hit the 5000?

    • +1

make sure it's $100 gift card
      worked for me at 2:23AM

      2:47AM 24 minutes
      after purchase received email

Thanks for purchasing $100 or more of Amazon.com.au Gift Cards. In accordance with the promotional terms, we have now automatically applied a $5 promotional credit to your account which can be used on eligible items shipped and sold by Amazon AU.

      • Also worked for me.
Ordered at 4:20AM and got the benefit confirmation at 4:21AM.

"Thank you for purchasing from Amazon.com.au.

Your recent order xxxxxxx entitles you to a promotional credit which we have added to your account. This credit can be applied to your next qualifying purchase."

        Thanks OP!

      • I have this as well: In accordance with the promotional terms, we have now automatically applied a $5 promotional credit to your account which can be used on eligible items shipped and sold by Amazon AU. The promotional credit must be used by 31 March 2023.

Just wondering that the $5 wont show on our balance right?

        • +2

The $5 promo credit won't show on your gift card balance.

To see it you will need to add something shipped & sold by Amazon Au to your cart, then go to checkout and you will see that $5 has been taken away from the total with a message about promotional credit.

  • I get ā€œThe promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchaseā€.

  • +2

It didn't work for me…'The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.'

    • nvm, it worked.

  • "Your promotional credit can only be used for purchases of eligible items shipped and sold by Amazon AU and will be automatically applied during checkout."

Does it mean I cannot use the credit to buy from non Amazon AU store? That's a bummer

  • 'The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.'

    • +3

At checkout do you still see this?

      Order Summary
      Items: $100.00
      Delivery: $0.00
      Order Total: $100.00

      Qualifying offers:
      GC promotion

If so, the error you are getting is because the promo is already applied.

      • Oh, I still see this: Amazon GC promotion and GC promotion. I bought anyway, let's see if it applied. Thanks mate

  • Only 4000 clicks at the moment but seems party is over?? Only first 5000 applicable

The first 5,000 customers who enter the applicable promotional code ā€œAGCFESTā€ in the ā€œredeem a Gift Card or Promotional Codeā€ box at checkout when purchasing $100 or more of eligible Amazon.com.au Gift Cards in a single order will receive a $5 promotional credit that can be used on a future eligible order (ā€œOfferā€). Offer available between 12:01AM (AEST) on 20 Sep 2022 and 11:59PM (AEST) on 26 Sep 2022.

  • Still working for me, 5 min ago

  • Say you bought $500, then you want to buy worth $300 on amazon, does it acts like a debit card and you still have $200 change, or do you have to finish the full value of the card in one transaction?

    • Credit is in your account, you can use in across multiple purchases

  • +3

Shopback: Bonus 3% cashback on $100 spend on giftcards, +2% for Amazon gift cards making it $95 for a $100 gift card
Half the comments: no dice, not a big enough discount

Amazon: Bonus $5 credit to use on qualifying purchases when you buy a $100 gift card, making it $100 for $105 (with some restrictions on the bonus credit)
Comments and votes: shut up and take my money

    • I guess not big enough discount for the trouble of having to follow up 2 discount+ waiting 60 days to get $3

  • Can we buy Amazon prime yearly sub with a gc? My optus subs is expiring this month. Will they increase the price here like in Europe?

    • +1

      Unfortunately, no.

Pity this isn't Apple gift cards, the nice man from the ATO on the phone insisted that he couldn't accept Amazon ones.

    • Now that Amazon is stocking more Apple products, Iā€™ve been told that the ATO policy on accepting Amazon Gift Cards will change very soon! I get a call from a random person at the ATO every so often, so Iā€™ll remember to ask next time

  • +1

Very first time when we apply the code, it doesnt show any sign that its applied but if you try again it shows error. I bought it anyway and received the promotional credit in 20 minutes.

    • This ^
I know some people mentioned above that they could see a note "promotion applied" but I didn't see anything (it's still early and coffee didn't kick in yet perhaps…)

Edit: took me less than 20min to get confirmation. Oh the thrill of not knowing whether you messed up and missed out ^^

  • Ordered 5 minutes ago with this email now

Thank you for purchasing from Amazon.com.au.

Your recent order 249-40xxxxxx entitles you to a promotional credit which we have added to your account. This credit can be applied to your next qualifying purchase.

  • Itā€™s just saying that I canā€™t use the code. I wonder if itā€™s been exhausted?

    • Now that the code has been plastered all over OzBargain, the little (even if it is in capitals) dude is pretty tired, thatā€™s for sure. But, like the Energizer Bunny, or an Amazon warehouse employee with a pee bottle, I expect they can keep working until the end of this promotion, so donā€™t worry

  • Code worked - then asked to varify the card on file - then the code didnt work. Guess limit reached?

    • +1
    • Amazon ā€œlimitsā€ are generally fictitious

  • Worked for me on the $100 Amazon card, thanks OP.

What I did was apply code in checkout, didn't ge any message, but when I went to apply it again it said it couldn't be applied. Bought the gift card and got the email about 5 mins later.

    • Can confirm same experience.

  • Mine worked - Ordered about 5mins ago and received confirmation for the $5 credit

  • Only one per account or we can buy as many ?

  • +2

I tried the code earlier and as some people said, nothing showed up so I tried again and it then came up with an error message.
I then tried doing it again from scratch by removing it from the cart and adding it again, but it comes up with an error message straight up.
Not sure I will take my chances.

    • Same for me, not going to buy this time

    • +2

As long as it shows this at checkout:

      Qualifying offers:
      GC promotion

You should be fine. It appears to show an error if the code is already applied.

      • Thanks mate. Took a punt as I could see that message at checkout.

      • this was correct. I got the email that $5 was applied after around 10 mins

    • +1

It will work, mine was the same and I got it.

      • Yep it did. Just received the email confirming the benefit.

  • +1

The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase

    • Check on the right - if it says GC Promotion then you've already applied it

  • +3

Also received the message: "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase"

    • +1

Check on the right - if it says GC Promotion then you've already applied it

  • When does the credit expire?

  • Promotional credit will expire at 11:59PM (AEDT) on 31 March 2023.

  • I applied the promo code, said successfully redeemed, but didn't give me the credit. So I suspect it's hit the 5000 customer limit.

    • cannot be applied to the account - it's all gone!

  • +1

The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.

  • I didn't need the code, it took 10% off automatically at checkout

  • Amazon site didn't say need the promo code, I bought Netflix $50 gift card and received the $5 promo credit.

Not sure where OP got the code from, Amazon didn't mention need a code but I clicked through the Amazon promo page.

    • +1

You need the code if you buy the Amazon gc. You bought the Netflix one, different offer.

  • Thanks Op. Just found the amazon gift card on the website and applied the code there rather then cliking deal link and code worked fine.
Edit- Received benifit confirmation email after 3 mins

  • Coupon code worked just now on $100 Amazon gift card, and $5 benefit was applied within a few minutes. Thanks OP!

  • For those who are wondering, I bought $100 amazon gc after applying the code and received $5 promo credit in a few minutes.
I then purchased a $50 Airbnb gc (doesnt have any promo code) and received the gc and the promo credit in about an hour. Do note that I paid $50 for the Airbnb gc and removed the auto applied $5 promo credit that I had.

    • So no code required as it will apply no matter what?? Is that what you're saying?

      • No code for Airbnb gc that I bought.

  • used the special gift cards offer for $10 cashback on 100 spend and applied the promo code so $15 bucks saving nearly confused myself

    • What's the special gift cards offer? Can't see any

      • Similar to shopback super swap
