Amazon Warehouse "Used Acceptable Large Cosmetic Imperfection (s) " 38WN95C 38" Monitor. Am I Going to Reget It?

I just a bought the LG 38WN95C - 38 inch Ultrawide Curved Monitor for $1167 on Amazon Warehouse with saying "Condition: Used - Acceptable - Large cosmetic imperfection(s) on bottom or back of the item. Item will come in original packaging. Packaging will be damaged".

Anyone want to speculate what the damage could be?

If there was anything wrong with the screen it would say it but what kind of large cosmetic imperfections could there be on a monitor?

Often it's just the packaging that's stuffed.

I did get a durable ipad stand (https://www.amazon.com.au/Durable-Rotation-Anti-Theft-Charco…) that had a similar description to you, it had a bit of wear on the foam feet and had some sand on it so I think it had purposely been used and returned, but it was so much cheaper than new I was happy to accept the condition and will just replace the foam feet with some from Bunnings.

I've bought another ~20 items with "damage to the product" but it has always been the box/packaging that was damaged :)

Just return if you're not happy with the condition.

I speculate that one or all of the following happened -

One of those AI forklifts backed into the racking and crushed the box and cracked the rear of the monitor, screen still looks and functions fine though.

Someone bought the monitor and opened the box with a chainsaw accidentally hitting the back of the monitor.

Someone bought the monitor, opened it up, took the panel out and replaced the panel with a cheap one.

Or more likely someone bought it, discovered it was too big for their desk and then returned it.

    • In a scenario that a monitor is returned by the previous customer, Amazon is going to sell it as a brand new monitor instead of a used monitor to minimise its loss. Source? I paid for a brand new coffee machine but received a used coffee machine that Amazon resealed the box but forgot to wipe clean the coffee powder and water left in the hopper and water tank inlet.

Large cosmetic imperfection(s) on bottom or back of the item.

I doubt they would sell it if the damage was extreme, they seem to overstate the damage so people are pleasantly surprised when it arrives…

I think you'll be right, it probably just has dusty feet or the likes…

Make sure you report back and let up know ;)

    @I Smell Pennies

    • I’m no expert, and it sucks as I really would like to know as well (I’ve never bought something with an acceptable tag).

But as others above stated, it could be just minor damage or barely any damage (they seem to overstate things). I’ve purchased things that said was damaged and turned up brand new

Would be interesting to see what OP’s experiences are. Keep us updated OP and best of luck!

  • Check the warranty too, is it full 3 years manufacture warranty or just DOA

    • When I asked about a 3080 ti recently, they advised it was only 30 days and not the original warranty of item

  • Never bought a "monitor" from Amazon warehouse. But in my experience with all types of other things with the same description "Large cosmetic imperfections" from Amazon warehouse what I received did not have a single mark on it. The only way I could tell it wasn't "new" was the damaged packaging which had been taped together with sticky tape.

Most recent item was a white wrist rest for a mouse. Not a single mark and I would definitely notice any marks on white.

Edit: Also yours says "Bottom or back of item". You have nothing to worry about in my opinion. The white wrist rest I ordered was "imperfections on top and sides of item" and it was squeaky clean.

If anyone would like an update - Monitor was sent with Toll and they lost the entire package. Refund will be granted in 3-5 days.

    • That honestly sucks. I was so excited to see what condition it was in

    **** ANOTHER UPDATE ****

Toll found it and it was just delivered lol

The box was very slightly damaged - small dent on one of the corners.
Opened it up and there was an Amazon return slip inside so it was preowned.
All the cords were sealed and there was still plastic protection on parts of the monitior.
There is no damage anywhere and works perfectly.
Manufacturing date on the back shows 03/22.

So it looks brand new and never used.

    Pretty chuffed tbh.

    • "There is no damage anywhere and works perfectly."

Yeah that has been my experience with basically everything with "New/Used" condition tag option/price.

It's good to know it applies to expensive items as well. All my items were cheap so I wasn't too sure.

      • OP said the listing stated:

Acceptable - Large cosmetic imperfection(s) on bottom or back of the item.

So OP got it in pretty much brand new condition and I'm guessing free too since the refund? Very lucky!

There is no damage anywhere and works perfectly.

        Enjoy your new monitor OP

    • Link to purchase? Lol

      • There's only one mate, and OP bought it :)
