Wilderness Equipment Space 2+ Winter 3 Person Tent $615 (Was $1099) Delivered @ Paddy Pallin

130

Sure there are cheaper tents going on here, but this seems like a good deal for a proper 4 season tent. While it might be an over kill for most people, if you're into alpine camping in winter it might be a good option for you. It is a clearance item so no idea how long it will last, but stock is available at most stores.

The Wilderness Equipment Space Tents series has long been a favourite for hikers looking for rugged reliability without weighing down their pack. The new Space 2+ Winter SO Tent adds space and beefs up wind- and water-proofing so you

can keep hiking even when the weather gets wilder. A larger floor plan means that you and your hiking buddy can store your gear inside, or can even squeeze in a third companion for lightweight summit trips. Expressly designed for Australian conditions, the Space 2+ Winter SO will see you up the Vic Alps or through the Tasmanian Wilderness.

Buyer beware. Like me, you may purchase one and get very little use out of it. I myself have so far been to space precisely ZERO times.

  • "2.5 person tent", good for the extra half.

beats sleeping in the car as rent increases kick in …… heating and cooling would be the same as i currently have … none.

WE hiking gear is very good. Lasts years. And yes, that is even if you use it a lot.

I have an approx thirty year old version of this tent (just can’t put my hands on the invoice to verify, sorry). Only used it in snow once though, back of the Brindabellas.
I also had a WE travel pack I backpacked around the world in late eighties. Back then it was a Perth company but nowadays I think it might be a brand of Sea to Summit.

Another great Australian brand is Mont.

Sea to summit haven't been the WE distributors for a good couple of years. WE went out on their own.

Now is the winter of our discount tent.

I personally don't like the asymmetric shape of the Space tents. And annoyingly it is hard to find a true footprint diagram.

But from memory they are not as long as you would expect, though the steep sidewalls help.

I ended up going with a lighter, better water HH Mont tent.

Also personal preference but I tend to steer away from grey/green tents for winter and towards red/blue/orange for blizzard visibility.

And lastly, these can be found for around $600-800 fairly regularly. But this is definitely a good price for the 2+.

  • Thanks, I've been looking for the right tent for a couple of years and just pulled the trigger.

I don't think that will be too good for the walls, might leave a big hole
