About $20 more expensive than the Crucial M4 at B&H, but the Sandisk one seems to be quite a bit faster (especially in terms of write speed). Should be worth the $20 extra I reckon.

Info from B&H:

Fast Load Times for Demanding Applications

From boot-up to shutdown, the SanDisk® Extreme® Solid State Drive offers exceptional performance with sequential read speeds of up to 550 MB/s and write speeds of up to 520 MB/si. You will experience fast load time, less lag time, and rapid response for gaming and other graphics-intensive applications.

Cost-Effective and Energy-Efficient

With SanDisk® Extreme® SSD, you can simply replace your old hard drive and boost your computer performance rather than buying a new computer. The Extreme® SSD stays cool and quiet during operations and consumes less power than traditional 7,200 RPM hard drives** so your battery lasts longer.

Compatible with Most PCs and Laptops

The SATA 6 Gb/s SanDisk® Extreme® SSD is backward compatible with SATA 3 Gb/s and SATA 1.5 Gb/s. It works with any computer that has a 2.5-inch hard drive.

Rugged Drive Engineered for Reliable Operation

Built with no moving parts, the rugged SanDisk® Extreme® SSD is both shock and vibration resistant for reliable operations. It is rated at 2 million hours Mean Time Before Failure Δ (MTBF), so you can depend on it as a long-term upgrade solution.

  • for those in melbourne, cheaper to walk into a shop and buy.

there's probably similar pricing in other states/territories…

    • You are right, I noticed PCCG had them for $249+postage when I ordered 2x120GB this morning. $12 postage, so BH is still a little cheaper, but not by much. I would rather pay the $10 (<5%) and buy local.

  • Cheaper delivered than ordering in Australia by $10-20 (according to staticice sellers shipping) but you would have to wait longer I guess

Sorry buddy. MSY sells this locally for $239 with an Australian Warranty.

So paying $251.86USD which is approximately $260 with paypal conversion rates is a horrible deal since it's overseas.

These are under $250 picked up from a number of places locally. I'm not sure what the warranty is like on the US imported ones, but if you have a local store I'd get it from there to make things easier in the event of a failure.

    • and supporting local stores & money staying in Australia!

2million hours? How many years is that? I need reliable hdd tht last till i die :) and maybe pass it on to my younger ones after i die! Is 2million hours enough for 2 life time?? Hehehe

Adding 'Hehehe' does not make an unfunny statement funny.

  • When will people get that its not really about sequential read/write speeds; if anything it's about 4K random reads/write speeds.

The other reasons why the Crucial M4 is renowned is because is uses the Marvel controller, as opposed to the Sandisk Extreme and many others that use the Sandforce controller…

if you have a branch nearby (pickup, no cost for shipping), it's $239 at MSY, no model number listed on the pdf but i'd guess it's the same (G25 Extreme). not sure about stock either.
