Young Padawan, 50% off RRP doesn't mean jack with Razer.

    $121 is pretty average.

My bad. I'm used to seeing Razer products marked up so much, especially at stores such as JB and others. If mods want I can delete post.

    • So true, this is only a good deal for people who only goes to JB to shop for Razer products. This keyboard has long been around the $100 mark.

Cool one. Actually been looking for a keyboard for my laptop. Is the Red Linear switch loud?

    • +2

Red are quieter. Blue is the loudest (AFAIK).

      • Green is Razer's version of Blues. Loud and clicky.

      • What about Brown? Sorry for asking but I'm such a noob and different company with their own switches make my head spin.

    • I own this. the red optical switches are next to silent. Doesn't have a click or a loud clack sound like mx reds. It feels more like a deeper laptop scissor switch. That being considered I wouldn't recommend this. You can see my comment below for reasons why.

    • I think I was at JB once and they had a lil demo device with all razer keys in a row, I stood there pressing them for 30mins lol and I guess I'd rate them yellow - orange - red - purple - green, from most soft&quiet to most clicky&loud.
My favourite was the purple in the end, because I wanted a bit of sound and a bit of feedback (the others were 'mushy' to me', and green was a bit 'obnoxious' (I have this at home)) and purple was a good middle ground.

I'm actually not sure. I would recommend watching some YT videos of the switches in action. Sorry I cannot be of more help. Hopefully others comment.

  • I own this. It can be a good keyboard if you're happy with Razor software and function (FN) key layout. It is next to silent and great to use at work. I find Razor software infuriating. You can't remap the FN key even with the Razor software, you have have the software running to remap anything and have to use it to set the lighting. I get around some of this by Microsoft power toys to create hotkeys. The keyboard doesn't have profile saving to transfer it to a new PC with the same settings without re-installing the software.

I also have an anne pro 2 which is nicer being bluetooth and the software lets me remap my fn key to Capslock so I can use wsad for the arrow keys. Would recommend this any day over the Huntsman mini

    • I've had a similar experience with the Razer Pro Type Ultra. Great keyboard apart from the function keys issue. It would be so simple to implement a function lock or put some memory on the keyboard to save profiles, but on a "professional" keyboard you can't use F4 to lock cells in Excel, for example, unless you either have Synapse running and disable media functions, or unless you're happy holding the function key every time. Suggest people reflect on whether that's an issue for them before buying any Razer keyboard.

Anyone have any red switch full keyboard recommendations (at a decent approved OZB price of course)?

The Corsair K68 red is good. It's usually around $130 on Amazon, I think the most it drops is maybe like $100-110?… I've used the K63 which is the TKL version, lasted years until I spilled Gatorade on it. It survived water spills but the sugar is a sob.

Thanks mate, very helpful. Will research into it :)

Had an issue with this freezing my taskbar. YMMV

  • This would be a much better buy for $10 more

If you look around enough you should be able to find a gasket board with more features at similar prices

    • +2

Not sure why you're getting negged, this is accurate - razer dosen't make good keebs. A gasket mount board would be far better built and would be a lot nicer to type on.

      • The same people that would probably neg me for recommending even a QK65 because it isn't a gamer brand and they have never heard of these other brands. I went from a Corsair to a Skyloong and GMMK and they were miles better. Using a QK65 and a Portal at the moment XD
